It's a little different when you are born and raised there ... going elsewhere is not the same, at least in the UK... and going to Europe means learning a new language. Not easy for everyone
And salaries are not high enough, it is more than 5 times my salary just to go for that USD$ 500k apartment.... ONE bedroom... crazy. And in a rough neighbourhood with the local Albanian and Kurdish mafia...!
A friend says it's about time for a house price crash and advises me not to buy now. He's renting and waiting, but it's ok for him, he can always take his savings and move back to New Zealand!
The Nautilus is also drawing me in, must resist!
I have the above mentioned already, but must confess I have never worn the steel Ingenieur. It has stayed in the box with the plastic on, hasn't even been tried on! I love the titanium AMG Ingenieur though
I think so, but since this foot injury (December 2006) that heas kept me from playing football (the real one), I've gotten so fat and lazy I should start playing again in the next week or two. For 5 minutes.
And there I go missing out on the EOD
Didn't know there were any until seeing the post saying they were all bought up! Oh well, good luck to those who got one.
I found an apartment locally that is double the price V can get his house for... and it also needs complete refurbishment. Such is big city life, only a 100 miles away
1-2 bedroom apartments can go for ridiculous prices here. Many people say this area is rough yet a 1 bedroom apartment (with no parking available) costs USD$ 500,000 at the bottom of the street
Once I find a cheap place, that'll be no watches for a looooong time.
Godd luck V-man.... hope it goes well.
Yes, I have the same feeling too. Look at the current issues with the poor quality components in the Big Bang...
Best bets if you want tha Asian 7750, is if it's in it's native layout, ie. seconds at 9, subdials at 6 and 12.
The PAMs with only running seconds at 9 should also be ok, as the chrono gearing can be stripped out.
1 or 2 more reps and I'm out... they are getting too expensive for me now.
If the price is ok on this, this could be one.
I'll have to concentrate on finally getting my existing ones modded so they are even better, as well as a small project I have (as soon as I find a Jimmy CG).
two-tone sub with silver or gold serti dial with diamond markers. I have a MBW version of this with solid gold midlinks, don't know if they will still be around as I got it a while back and it's still fine. You could also get parts, such as the dial, crown, bezel, bracelet etc if you wanted a "realer" version. I reckon that could cost you around $1500-2000 to put together.
You can pick up other good watches at cheaper prices - used PAM188 or 196 with 7753... silix had a wite dial Chrono Avenger with ETA 7750 and white dial for around $500, but I think it was the incorrect bezel (closed 4 and bad pearl) but otherwise it is great.
If you want a ceramic fix get a J12 with the ever reliable ETA 2824 ... no chrono issues there.
Even the new average quality PAM187 with ETA 7753 is probably a better deal and likely to last a lot longer !
If you or I were loaded, we'd probably be sneaking looks at the genuine!
For under $800, I would recommend the Cartier Chrono with ETA 7753 ... a much more reliable movement, and a striking watch to boot.
I don't mind a big bust ... if it's a girl
Seriously, this has put me off this. Potentially unreliable movement with no easy ETA transplant. Way too expensive a risk
Last week walking through torrential rain with a silix PAM036 on rubber strap... was worried it let in water (as I was wearing it on the right wrist exposing the CG to the rain) but it was fine. And I managed to get my lunch home without it getting wet
