  1. On some sites, it says 44mm, but Watcheden states 50mm (Man size!)... I do not think it is a 50mm watch. I cannot imagine someone making a watch of this class and price (in the 60K USD range) make a monster at 50mm. If it indeed were a 50mm watch, imagine how much gold they had to put into the case, man! The Hysek website states 44mm, but 63mm lug-to-lug, so it is a 44 then, but I think it will wear pretty large. A used SS version is put up for sale at the norwegian FINN site. The guy states 44mm without the crown, and wants 65K NOK (about 12,000 USD). Retail price for a new SS is said to be 14,000 USD.
  2. Just spottet a (Joerg) Hysek Abyss Explorer rosegold on Youtube, from a dealer Sino. Searched our trusted dealers, but very few seem to stock these models from Hysek, saw a couple at Angus, but it was not the same model as the one on Sino. Then I found quite a few different models at Watcheden. Anyone pulled the trigger on one yet? The different gold, TT and SS versions all look awesome, but quite expencive, in the same range as AP and HBB. The dealer does not say anything about AR either, but it looks like AR from what I can tell by the pics. The ones on Angus says nothing about AR, but the Sino-guy say they are AR. Since Sino is not a trusted dealer I will not risk anything, at least not 0,5K USD. This seems like a very sturdy, heavy and impressive watch. The GEN in rose gold is about 60K USD... In the same league as AP and HBB then, I recon. The maker, Joerg Hysek used to design watches for TAG and several other well-known brands, but made his own High-End brand lately. Happy friday
  3. Spring is in the air, even though it is still more than one feet of snow in our neighbourhood... Was talking a walk in the sunshine with junior, and the sun made my IWC dial look so nice, I had to take a snapshot Happy friday
  4. Ordered this strap from Steinhart, it is an IWC Big Pilot style, but I decided to try it on my Steelfish, since it has the same lug width (22mm). What do you guys think about this combo? Happy Saturday BTW; was windowshopping the other day, at our local AD, by random they had a brand new Steelfish with vulcano black dial in their window. This is the first time I see a GEN to compare with my own. Apart from the arrow second hand on the new style SFSO, the look is out of this world. I tell you, the AR and the 3D effect on the dial is spectacular! Even looking through a window 3 feet away, it was no problem spotting the obious flaws (or weak spots) our rep world has to strugle with. At least on this particular model. And the finish on the case and the bracelet (silky, sleek satin SS), nothing we can hope to have on an averidge rep, as far as I am concerned. But I am curious about the newer models, my was purchased back in may 2008, and it is still running well, btw. The socalled "double AR swiss standards", as they claim on the newer models (e.a. SA 2009), is it really getting closer to the real deal as far as AR is concerned? The double bluish AR on my SFSO is nothing close to the gen AR. I was literary shocked when I saw this watch in the window, it was so nice, that I would have bought it, if I had the NOK 21,000.00 (approx 3500 USD) incl.VAT. They also had a Chronomat B01, btw. It was more than twice the price (approx 56,000.00 NOK), to blingy for my taste, but a very substantial picece. A bit larger than the SFSO also.
  5. Good morning to you all. May I suggest the German/Swiss brand Steinhart, or the US version Debaufré? Seems like very good build quality, and most of the models have sapphire with double AR on the inside, ETA movements, waterproofing from 300-2000 Meters on several models etc. Some of the models are homage designs of well known swiss brands, but the diver models Triton looks real sweat, and has also very good lume (Superluminova), even multicolored lume on some models and lume on the Bezel inlay as well. Pricing from 300-800EUR.

    Friday WC

Happy Friday afternoon, folks Had to add one more thing, this is the GEN: http://www.worldtempus.com/en/news/top-news/detail/article/1274100196-iwc-50000-swiss-francs-for-the-big-pilots-watch-edition-saint-exupery/

    Friday WC

Had to add some better pics - notice the PR has advanced over the hours since the first pics were addet just after 10am! BTW: this is the 2.edition Big Pilot St. Exupery Edition (working PR) with tobacco dial and "platinum version" - only one made in the whole world of the GEN! A little stupid with a rep of a 1 only worldwide piece, but then again, you will probably never meet the person with the GEN, and if you met another guy, it would probably be a REP guy The fish crown is wrong, as well as the engraved back, but who cares? Also the recessed date issue and the strap is not true to the GEN, but who has seen the GEN??? The only example of the GEN by the way, was sold at a Charity auction for 50K CHF!
  8. Happy friday! Something for different tastes
  9. I recently have noticed quite a few norwegian "celebs" in the press and on tv, wearing some quite fancy watches. I was not aware of this until recently but quite a few of the popular brands, we see as reps here on the forum, is seen in norwegian magazines, tv shows etc. Interesting to know if any other norwegian rwg members have seen this and if you have spotted any reps, or are they all genuine? Example 1: Rema-king (Rema is a big norwegian grocery store food chain) Odd Reitan (a well known norwegian billionare) was on the cover of a norwegian business magazine last month, and on his arm unmistakebly an IWC Big Pilot 7 days, I am not sure if it was the 5002 or 5004. I have no doubt this was a gen, he is worth more than 1 billion USD. Example 2: On the popular tv-show IDOL and X-Factor, the head judge, Jan Fredrik Karlsen has been spotted with several watches, one of them looks like a Big Pilot. Example 3: Well known actor and movie director Axel Hennie on the tv-show SENKVELD, wearing what I belive was a chocolate Big Bang King rosegold. The watch was huge! Example 4: Tour de France winner and well-known norwegian atlethe Tor Hushovd on the same show as above (last year I think), as far as I could tell, wearing a Breitling Bentley 6.75 with black dial (steel bracelet). Example 5: the hoast of the same tv-show, Thomas Numme and Harald Rønneberg, both is now wearing what I belive to be Omega Planet Ocean 45mm. I think Harald had his PO also last year. Example 6: well known stand-up comedian and tv-show entertainer, Kristian Valen. He has been wearing Graham and Hublot BB King in different occasions. Last I saw him on tv I think he was wearing a Breitling SA on a strap or another chronograph model, maybe BCE. He sure seems to be a fan of big watches. Has anyone other examples as well? I think most of these are gens spotted, but it would sure be funny to spot a rep among all these well situated gentlemen:-)
  10. What brand is this? Anyone who knows? At first I thought it might be C1 RG, but it is not.
  11. Great review and pics, Lankai. I have been waiting a long time for them to get this piece right, but it still does not look as my expectations, compared to the gen. The best thing would be a bezel from the ET V5, a gen ETA2836-2 and use the rest from PC newest model. I will not pay nearly 400USD for a model with wrong bezel inlays and asian clone 3135. I do not understand how they can charge ETA price for a model with asian clone, which is basically just a modified Asian 2836. And it does not look anything like a gen Rolex 3135, I have seen pics. So what's the point?
  12. Hi! This is my second or third topic in this forum so far, but it has been a helpful year beeing here so far. I have no Rollie from before, I have a SFSO swiss ETA and double AR (blue dial), a Concord C1 and a PAM225 with an off-the-forum dealer 26MM lug with steel bracelet polished and satin combo. A beast of 280grams. Now I want a watch to go with a suit and dinner jacket. I need some expert and advice and possibly from someone who has dealt with both of the models I am refering to: Our trusted dealer PC carry one blue tt sub made by Noob Factory, updated with 2008 model serial no's at rehaut and engravings RolexRolexRolex around. With the Asian Clone ETA 2836-2 it is just over 200USD. The other one I am considering, at 10USD more, is the newest edition, with a slighty bigger case (oversize case, 2009 update model Submariner with ceramic bezel) - from the pictures I can tell the 2009 has a bigger case, especially the lugs are thicker. IMO it looks rather bulky, whereas the older model looks more slick, and streamlined, almost like a comparison between a Volvo and a Ferrari Both of them have 18K plated tt case and bracelet, but the 2009 model seems to have a more realistic pearl, as far as I can tell from the pics, anyway. I am not willing to pay another 100USD for the 14K wrapped 2008 model, or similar for the 2009 Model with Swiss ETA. I frankly do not trust the movement to be a genuine ETA from all info I have found on the forum. They charge you 80-100USD extra for Swiss ETA, compared to Asian Clone. And, how much better is the 14K wrapped bracelet on the 2008 model, than the regular 18K? No option on 14K wrapped on the 2009 model, though, and it is about 30USD cheaper with the same swiss ETA, than the 2008 14K triple wrapped. But if you choose the 2008 with Swiss ETA and 18K bracelet, you save 80USD, and end up paying only about 40USD more than the same version with ASIAN Clone ETA. If I were to choose the 2008 non-ceramic bezel, is it best value for money with Swiss ETA and 18K plating or go all the way and strip it down to 18K and Asian clone. I am not willing to pay well over 300USD for swiss ETA and 14K wrapped. Oh, it is damn hard to choose on my own, hope for some good advice out there...
  13. Josh' old site has been down a few days. I found he had announced a new domain (collectors forum). But I found a site looking almost like his, and even with the same logo. But the e-mail adresses and login does not match. I was searching for Perfect Clones, before I read his announcement. Have you seen it at www.perfect2clones.com ? Is this also his site or a copy from someone else?
  14. Here is a collection of gen pics, from different angles. Hope they can give a clue to the nature of the date windows as well as the gloss, or non gloss dial. http://www.luxury24.org/deepsea_seadweller.htm smab
  15. It seems like every time Trusty or Josh site is down, both of them are. It's been like that over the last year. Maybe they run trough the same server or host or something.
  16. Thanks for the details about the models I was not aware that there were two Arktos and got confused when I found the 092 and another one, also called Arktos, the 186.. And the book of Mike Horn sounds very interesting also Since we up here live close to the Arctic circle, we are in many ways into the polar stuff:-) Would be nice to have a watch (rep) that has some connection to that as well.
  17. You are telling about the Arktos, but the PAM 252 is not the same model as the Arktos. The Arktos (PAM 092) came much earlier than the North Pole GMT, and the two watches was launched as a dedication to two different expeditions. The Arktos was lauched in connection with Mike Horn and his journey around the arctic circle and the North Pole GMT was launched a few years later, in 2006 in connection with the winter expedition to the North Pole, with Mike Horn and Borge Ousland. But I am sure the Arktos is a very nice watch as well.
  18. I am thinking of buying a rep PAM 252. As I was looking on EBAY I found what is probably the real deal. Some way, the watch on the pics just have that "genuine" look, even though I can't explain what the "genuine" look is. Some opinions? Here it is: http://cgi.ebay.com/PANERAI-PAM-252-NORTH-...%3A1%7C294%3A50 At almost 10K USD, I guess it is a collectors item. They have made only 500 pcs of this beauty. One of the reasons I want to get a rep, is the fact that the signature of the two polar expedition members are on the case back, and one of them is a norwegian, as my self. Borge Ousland was the first person to traverse the Antarctica Continent, without support and he is obviously a famous polar expedition man. He was one of the two men participating on the expedition, in which the PAM 252 was dedicated to. The other one, Mike Horn was together with Borge, and they reached the North Pole, unaided, in mid-winter. It means they spent almost 70 days of night, as it is dark at all hours at this time of year up there. And at temperatures down to - 40C/F. The PAM 252 even have a special soft iron inner case, to avoid the strong magnetic field from the earth at extreme lattitudes. An impressive watch, I guess. Is this the "best" rep PAM out there? I guess there is as many opinions as there are persons on this forum, but the rep does look strong in the reviews I have found so far. I am thinking of getting it from one of the trusted dealers on the forum. I have purchased only on rep prior to this. The PAM 252 is ment to be my birthday present, for my self, as I have my 37th birthday next month. My first and only rep so far, is the "ultimate" Breitling Steelfish Superocean with swiss ETA 2836-2, steel bracelet and blue dial. It has double AR and I like it very much, though it has some minor flavs. It keeps time within + 8-10 sec a day, which I believe to be acceptable. The "beast weighs 206 grams (7 ounces) or almost a 1/2 pound. I am sure of this, because I put it on a kitchen digital scale. It was even heavier than I expect. How heavy is the PAM 252 in comparison? I guess it is somewhat lighter, due to the rubber strap? Anyways, have a nice weekend all you rep fanatics out there
