  1. Hi there Spitfire. The 359 is the V2 version from PureTime. OBS: because of datewheel issues, all of these latest versions of this series use the low-beat (21.600) 7750 movement. No big deal really, but you should know what your are buying, I did not get aware, before afterwords. Since the second hand is so small, it is not possible to see the slightly slower beat rate from the movement than the GEN highbeat (28.800). I also got the DSSD from same dealer. As I have learned later, they say the dial on the socalled Trevor version (also called V7) is better than the one I got (Asia Superclone edition, but this one with a Sellita movement). You can tell from the hour markers, they have too thick metal rim, and the GEN has flatter markers, also the marker at 12, 6 and 9 is better on the V7. But supposedly, the V7 case is not so good as the one I have. The pearl on mine is pretty good, but a little to dark in colour. The GEN is a little whiter, and perhaps slightly bigger. Possibly the easiest tell from a GEN, is the finish of the bracelet, and the HE valve on the GEN is slightly recessed. But it is a very nice watch, and it is very comfortable to wear. If I were to buy (and could afford) a GEN Rolex, I would consider the DSSD above anything else. They retail at NOK 69.900 here in Norway. Almost 12.000 USD, about 11.000 USD too much for my budget
  2. Hi to all fellow members I finally got the whole collection gathered to take a few photos. This is the first time I have taken all of my watches out of the boxes and wrappings at the same time, having them lined up for a shot. Hope you enjoy (forgive some lesser quality on some pictures, it is my cell phone camera, but still some of them turned out quite nice).
  3. Good evening here from Scandinavia. We are still in the darker time of year, but sun shines longer each day now, and after april starts, day will be longer than night (12 hours +), reaching a peak here where I am, in mid-summer, when sun sets at 11:30pm and rises at 3:00 am. But, in this dark time of year, the lume on our watches, are somewhat interesting. I have now aquired about 12-15 reps, and out of those, a few has a really remarkable lume, considered not beeing superluminova models. So I am interested to know about all of your knowledge and experience, if you charge the lume in the evening, perhaps 1 minute under the bedside lamp, how long does it stay glowing within terms of still beeing visible and time beeing possible to tell, without turning the light on, and the curtains are still closed? My best experience is with the V6 DSSD with Selita movement (movent is either Asia superclone, or ETA, or Selita in this case), lume is the same on all of these variations I guess. Only difference is the engine. My DSSD has a blue evenly glow, on the pearl it gets a little dim after a short while, but the hour markers and hands stay lit within reasonable force to be visible until I get up in the morning. We are talking 7-8 hours, and it is still dark in the bedroom when I get up at this time of year. I must say, I have not seen this on any other model I own. The SFSO superrep has good lume, so has the PAM162, but they do not stay lit for so long. Even the old PAM225 Slytech has one of the best lumes I have seen for this older models without superluminova. But they are not clearly visible in the morning. How long is your GENS lume visible, if some of you have one or more? I have heard many speak of even GEN lume does rarely last all night. Many is very strong a short while but dims out after 10-15 minutes. Happy weekend, and to all you Scandinavians, we shall soon see a lighter season, and need not mind the lume, good or bad, for a few months!
  4. Hi folks. I have the old "super-rep", blue dial, swiss (verified) 2836-2 movement. This new model has better hour markers, flatter numerals at 6-9-12, closer to the Gen. But I think the pearl is slightly too big, as it also was on the old model. Bracelet on this looks (from the pictures) to be a little better finished. My bracelet is not very well finished, especially the clasp has some course finish at certain angles here and there. Bracelet is possibly the biggest tell, GEN from REP. The Gen bracelets are truly superbly finished with soft, nice angles and no uneven cuts, surfaces and lines. Lock on my clasp is a little slow. You don't get the "click-with-a-statement" as you should expect from a watch in this class, if it was a Gen. The lock on my SA V3 is much better, but not super. They do the new Oysterbracelets better, if one should compare. The lock on my DSSD is super-firm and nice, even I should want somewhat better overall finish of the brushed surfaces.
  5. Hah, even the rotation of the date font they got wrong. And of course, wrong subdial spacing. I must admit, I avoid all of the date at 4:30 models, with 7750. After I got my PAM162 with 7753 and no recess date, I am simply not able to digest anything else in this class. Conclusion is; it it is anything else than date at 3 and a 7750, it is a no-match for me. As far as for this particular model rep: Charlie-Romeo-Alpha-Papa.
  6. If we were to compile a list of watches most likely NOT to be repped, I think maybe this one would be among the top 5 or 10 on that list... http://www.hodinkee.com/blog/2012/3/1/the-greubel-forsey-quadruple-tourbillon-secret-when-you-need.html
  7. Finally Friday, and I go big, way big - XXL, an example of design careless of funtion, only purpose is fun Almost like drinking beer out of those 2pint jugs they have at Munich October festival - So how do you folks like to sport those 48,2mm?
  8. Here is a documentary from the guys in Essex finding goodies in the street drain... http://www.vgtv.no/#!id=49439
  9. Happy Thursday folks. So it is getting closer to Weekend Wristies as well Here is my PAM359 V2 on my selfmade Jack&Jones Belt strap. Made from a J&J Belt, dates back to 1997, so the leather is really soft and worn. It is still very raw yet, I am thinking of making some stitching arount the lug ends, since it is very uneven. It is made from 1 layer of leather, meaning the holes for the lug bars are straigth through the egde of the leather, kind of difficult to make evenly, but I managed in a way. It may not win a contest, but as a first time try, I am satisfied for now. Only tools used, a carpet knife, a flat end screwdriver (to punch the holes for the buckle) and a spring bar tool to carve the holes through the edge of the leather for lug and buckle bars. Enjoy responsably
  10. Hi. You should look at the clip with "Aleksander". The judge (one of the four people in the seats in front of the stage) Yosef is the only dude not native norwegian (the dark guy). He has the Montoya piece.
  11. Hi to all AP wristaholics this evening. Just though I would share this with you all: Last evening on Norwegian TV2, on the show called "The Voice", the hiphop artist Yosef from MadCon, was sporting a truly spectacular piece: Juan Pablo Montoya Rosegold Limited Edition ROO. Now I got to think - the guy can afford it, but what is the chance of such a rare piece, ever entering the Kingdom of Norway? They only made 500 pcs, and retail price was about 47.000USD. Now they sell for almost double: http://forums.watchuseek.com/f30/ap-royal-oak-offshore-juan-pablo-montoya-rose-gold-26030ro-00-d001in-01-a-215883.html So, what do you think? Did they ever import this one to the only AD in Norway carrying AP, Urmaker Bjerke, did he get it abroad, or is it in fact a REP??? It is possible to see the show on the website of TV2 http://www.tv2.no/underholdning/thevoice/video only thing I know that can tell the tell, if the outer edge of the Carbon Fibre Bezel is polished, it is a rep. The GEN is brushed, as far as I can find from info on the forum and elsewhere. Any opinions? PS: Former Aha-member, Magne Furuholmen has what I am pretty sure is, a Rolex Milgauss with green sapphire. So these musicians, the seems to know about their watches
  12. Good evening and happy Saturday to all fellow members. This post is ment as a general questions to all, regarding what we have seen in the media, on tv and elsewhere, of rare and expensive watches, in particular if we are not sure wether they are true GENs or in fact reps:-) Who knows, even famous people can wear a rep! If they can afford the GEN, no one will ever ask the question anyway? Especially if they are after a very rare item, with long waiting lists for months and months (is it not years for particular Pateks?) I think most people never have the knowledge to see what is GEN or rep, if there are not very bad made items, or it is a Rolex on a person not likely to afford one. I also think the small percentage of people like us, who is well familiar with reps, are maybe much more aware of what the flaws are, and have a much more observant eye to the detail so we are more likely to spot the rep in a setting were GEN would be most likely. As an example, last night I saw the TV-show "The Voice" on Norwegian TV2. One of the judges, local celebrety Yosef from hiphop group MadCon, sported a truly spectacular piece - the Limited Edition Juan Pablo Montoya Rose Gold AP Royal Oak Offshore. He is a person who can afford it, but is he really a person so interested in watches, he would spend 60.000-80.000 USD buying one? It was made only 500 pcs, and the retail price was about 47.000USD, but it is so rare and considered a collecors item, so they sell at almost double that, this one for 78.500USD: http://forums.watchu...1-a-215883.html On the other hand, the item is so rare, only 500 were made, so the chance of 1 of these showing up in the only AD store in Norway carrying AP, (Urmaker Bjerke) I regard as unlikely. Maybe he got it abroad. What can be the market for such a watch in Norway, where the general public look down on those more fortunate, and an unwritten law called "Janteloven", say that you should not think you are better than anyone else", and showing off ones wealth is regarded as rude or over-the-top posh. If you are wealthy, you should hide your wealth, shut your mouth, and pay your tax, which in Norway is from 30-50 % of income, depending on how much you make. But the celebreties of the new generation, especially the ones in the music business and general entertainment, and maybe people with an exhibitionist mind, give the crap about this "jantelov", and do as they please. It is not uncommon over here, newspapers writing about this and that person, spending a crazy amount of money, like buying a supersportscar worth 3 mill USD, or a Yacht at 150 mill USD. The rich people should rather sport a low profile, and send what they do not need to the tax department, and sending the rest to any good cause organisation, like "Save the Wolves" or "Save the specled frogs with yellow feet" - or similar type of narrow interest and political correct enviromental organisations. God forbid, if you spend what is considered a two years salory for the averidge worker in Norway, on something so useless as a watch! But noone looks at you as the weird fellow, if you spend the same amount of money on a sports car, spending half the year in the garage, since we cannot drive Ferrari's here in the wintertime. "Oh, he is passionate about nice italian cars, and he can afford it, that is understandable - most of the male population would, if they had the money". But spending the dough on watches, that is a totally different thing
  13. Hi there Dustcollector. Be careful with that URL. It is a scam site. See the Dealers link section on this forum. Perfect Clones has only one URL, and 1 only. I have been dealing with PC for years. Customer Service is top, it is important, as in this business, there can always be issues, even if they send QC-pictures for you to approve. This is the nature of the way the watches are being manufactured and distributed. There is no true full final QC-check before shipping, since the level of standard or level of finish considered OK by the dealers, may not be considered OK by the customers. Since there is no such thing as a perfect or GEN-like standard REP, they let the customer decide if it is ok, by sending pictures. If the dealer you choose, does not supply QC-pictures, it should go as a warning sign. All of the power dealers on this board, have this as standard nowdays. Good luck in this valley of shadows
  15. Hi. See the answer is given already, but when I looked at the initial post and pictures, I was thinking of the SD: Because of the sharp, well defined teeth on the crown and the bezel, and the shape and font of the datewindow and datewheel, I would say GEN right away. Also the shape of the coronet at 12'o clock. The polished frame around the lumefill in the coronet is thicker on the GEN, than on (most) reps. Saw this at a review of the Noob GMT-Master II-C. Regarding the PAM, maybe GEN because of the CG-lever tightly placed against the case. Now we now they are GEN anywhay, but nice to see my initial thoughts were ok.
  16. Happy Friday to all fellow board members. Here is my brand new PAM162F. A7753, no, absolutely no sunken datewheel. Build quality is unsurpassed by any of my other items. Enjoy responsably
  17. Happy Wednesday to all wristaholics! So I aquired a DSSD, newest N-Factory with Selita swiss movement. By coinsidence, since I planned for another item, but they were out of stock, so I landed on this one. I must say, I like it more and more. The bracelet is not top, have asked for a replacement (see last two pictures), but the rest is very nice. Only thing I do not like, is that Rolex have designed such a narrow bracelet on such a big lump of a watch. 21mm at Lugs, and it tapers to 18 at clasp! The watch is 43-44mm, and about 17mm thick. Nice with long sleeves, but I do not think it look quite as good with short sleeves. Must wait until springtime, and see. But it is quite comfortable, if you are used to heavy watches (like 47mm PAM, SFSO etc). I especially likes the glossy ceracrome bezel with inlays and the thick, dome sapphire. The distortion at certain angles is very mesmerizing to look at (see pic). I discovered that after wiping the bracelet clean with a cloth used for cleaning lcd-screens (it is very soft, with some alcoholic solvent) made it much more sparking and shiny. It must have been quite dirty when sent from the supplier. Was grey and dull at first sight. Much better now. Brush/satin finish is very nice. Enough words.-.. Here it is, enjoy responsably, as they write on the beer-bottles
  18. Hello. Though I would slip in with a commet as well. Just got mine DSSD. Bracelet in generic is good, but mine has some serious finish issues. I am utterly supprised, as I red some topic regarding the best rep bracelets available, and this was regarded to be one of them. I find that finish and overall quality is essential to this, not only the function and wearability. Please see pics. I doubt these are easy to fix my self, so I filed a complaint to the dealer, asking for a replacement bracelet with acceptable finish and quality, equal to the finish and quality of the watch itself.
  19. Finally Monday - finally received my new PAM359 "best edition V2". Great piece, but the AR is not very strong. Only single sided, but so is the GEN, they say. Wish all a nice week to come
  20. Hello to all wristlers. Finally Friday All blinged out today (oppose from "casual Friday") with FG Day-Date II with the black "zebra-dial" , PC - swiss ETA.
  21. Good evening to all Tuesday wristies. My choice of today, the PAM225 Slytech sub. Since I felt there was time for change and the ss bracelet was gettting waaay to heavy, I made me self a new strap, this afternoon. It is a chunky beast, so it deserves a chunky strap, raw and uncut. Made from a think leather belt, so the strap is the same thickness. (Oh, and I modifed (changed) the pearl yesterday, another topic on the mods in the PAM section)
  22. Hi guys! Thanks for great tips. I have looked at both, and seems they have some great items there. Only issue, I must consider the wifey and dragging more watch stuff into our house:-) So, in the meantime, and since I am very unpatient, I thought, "what the heck - I will try to make my own strap! So I just did. Another post on this forum today - please have a look and see what you think It is posted under PAM225 pearl mod, since I took care of that thing first, yesterday, then today I came up with the make my own strap idea.
  23. Good evening here from the high North. A new mod is coming up. I was bored this afternoon, took an old belt, and made me self a new strap. Pics will follow... Update: pics of my first time ever selfmade strap. I used an old leather belt, so the strap is as thick as a belt - I used a carpet knife, and another strap as stencil for this one. I used about 1 hour 30 minutes from I found the materials, until it was finished. It ain't exactly pretty, nor exactly nice, but it is a unique piece, and since it is customized for my wrist, it has only one hole for the buckle I will consider to work more on it later, but here is the raw, uncut edition ("directors cut") - hope you enjoy these amateur pics - it is only with my cellphone. And, remember, I am not at all a handyman, so beeing able to make this my self, I consider a great challenge, and reaching a milestone in this hobby. It is maybe not good, but it can only get better from here
  24. Hello everybody, and happy Tuesday. I have been having this mod in mind for a long time, but only recently did I have the necessary tools and parts to make it happen. This was also one of my earliest reps, I think the second one (first was SFSO socalled superrep). This is one chuncky piece of steel. Even if the gen is Ti, it still makes an impressive presence on the wrist, and since the GEN is a 300 pcs worldwide item, chance is small someone will spot it, even it it is the wrong metal. But there are so many other flaws. I focused on the easiest one to try fix: For those of you familliar with this rep, you all know the pearl is the biggest crap (why do they never attempt to make a decent pearl on the reps, seems the easiest thing?). Only recently, the new breed of reps seems to have pearls similar to gen or at least looking somewhat similar. To accomplish this, I used the PAM225, a wrecked 21J "Yachtmeister" and some watchtools, some transparent tape, and some superglue. The new pearl is actually the hour marker from the dial of the "Yachtmeister", just by coincidence it fit like a hand in a glowe in the "tube" of the old pearl. The old pearl was really nothing more than some lume in a hole, covered by a misaligned small glass crystal. I wrecket it with a tool, covered by tape, so there would not be small pieces of glass left all over. In the empty hole, I put the hour marker. This is what it used to look like and then is the result in the next pictures. Hope you enjoy, and remember, this is my first mod ever, so I understand if someone thinks it looks like amateur work, but are we not all amateurs, if we are not educated watchmakers, making it a living?
