I would love to see a rep of a UN Maxi! If they develop a reliable movemtn, they can put me on the waiting l;ist!

I think there are too many colour combinations in there, maybe the basic panda dial and red hands, but the yellow in there makes it look cheap in my opinion

It's all cyclical. It won't be long before big watches are back in. However, I would pay no attention to it, wear what you feel suits you best. I went through a phase of wearing a Fiddy, and a SOSF. However, since wearing smaller watches in the 40-42mm range I have found they suit MY wrist much better, so I now opt for slightly smaller watches - nothing to do with fashion, it's just what suits my wrist size best. With a suit, I have always felt that a smaller watch is best in MY opinion, but in the casual context I would wear whatever I want - still longing for the Super Avenger!

I know that on this board we have some very knowledgeable people in the area of business etiquette and norms, so I thought I would throw a question your way. I have a commercial internship with a company in the summer, and am looking to buy another suit to rotate with my current one. At the moment I own a black three button suit, with a very subtle thin pinstripe. I have been looking at either a very dark grey two button, or a dark navy three button. I would like opinions on what would make a good addition to the wardrobe? I'm not really looking for brand recommendations, more the style, buttons and colour. I am 5 11" white male, short dark hair, with an athletic build. Many thanks in advance!

Congratulations, the Seamasters are great watches. With the black version, I would also recommend trying a Nato strap on rotation with the bracelet, it gives it a nice alternative look!

If you're trying to make it as per the gen, it is necessary, it makes a huge difference to the appearance of the dial. If you were asking about an Imega SMP I would say not to bother, however, due the BCE coming with AR in gen format, I would definitely have the coating applied, it makes the watch look much more authentic and expensive!

Nice purchase, they look good with the black dial! Try the rubber strap, makes a nice change now and again!

It is similiar to when the Japanese started importing cars into the UK. At the time it was novel, and many were scared to buy them. Look at them now though, I would take a Jap car over a European car anyday, maybe we will see the same with the movements!

I think in time they may well be just as good as the Swiss counterparts. All we have to do is look at the new A7750 movement that have been reviewed by The Zigmeister. A good service and it should run a smoothly as a S7750, which of course would need servicing if it hadn't already been. Hopefully in time these asian clones can match the quality of the Swiss ETA's Another thing to bear in mind is that the Swiss ETA's that we buy are probably knock off ones anyway. I say this in reference to The Zigmeister's other post where he mentioned that the only way to be sure of a serviced new movement is if it comes fully packaged as original.

Yes they are indeed, I know a few people that have had good experiences with them!

For me it's not the fact Im getting a better movement, as to be honest, even the ETA movements from the factories could be questionable, they're not necessairyl oiled and brand new form the Swiss factories (very unlikely) For me it is getting what I pay for. It might look and taste like a banana but if I paid for organic, and I get some cheap GM version, I'm not happy!

I agree. I think we reached the peak during last summer. We were receiving some great replica's with genuine Swiss movements. I have lost a lot of confidence in buying replicas Before, it was a good way to collect watches of high end brands for cheap. Now it is becoming unpredictable and quite expensive.. It is strange, when I first started out, the high end reps are the ones I was looking at, now I find myself looking at the 100USD reps, for me that is where the fun lies, having an accurate watch that is disposable. If we are going to start getting asian movements in place of ETA, all well and good, but they must be advertised as this, otherwise we shall indeed see a massive downturn in our replica community, with 'little white lie' threads coming through again. On the other hand, the introduction of asian clone movements could see the reduction in price of reps, making the replica hobby more affordable again. Let us hope it is the latter.

I think you're last statement there sums it up Andreww. Looks like that post from months ago might be dragged up. We should benefit from cheaper prices if a cheaper movement is being put into the watches, and they certainly should described with the correct movement. I just wonder sometimes if it is easier for dealers to turn a blind eye to it than to keep checking what movements come in the watches. If this is the case, it is very disappointing!

Well Im a 21 year old student and wear clothes similar to the ones posted above. I am careful with my money, and have a nice savings account from when I was working full time as a partner in a construction firm, so I have bought a few gens etc... I would never assume someone owns a rep just because they're not wearing a suit. I went to a Lamborghini meeting a few years ago, the majority of guys there were sporting Breitlings, Omega's and Rolexes, but just dressed in shorts and tshirt. None of them were waering a suit, or obvious high brand clotheswear. Besides, even if someone doesn't have a huge bank account, a 4000USD watch isn't impossible if you have a passion for watches. It would be down to prioritising your expenditure. Another example, someone I know owns a Hawker Hurricane, and with all due respect to him, you would think he lives very rough. Has a clapped out old car, rough clothes, but I am pretty sure he has more money that most people I have seen wearing nice suits and Pams. Very unassuming guy indeed!

I have always thought of Rolex as being a high end watch, but have thought as IWC as being the next stepping stone up the league of watches. Perhapos this is because they are rarer. For me Rolex has become a somewhat cliche, if you have money you buy a Rolex without much thoughts as to what you are buying (I know this is a massive generalisation and I am sure many do give mor thought process to it. But I see buying something like an IWC as something different, going against the grain and buying something a little more understated, but much more appreciated by people who know what they are.

You might be thinking of the APROO which has the 21.6k 7750? The Nautilus is meant to come with the ETA movement
