  1. Nice collection. I do like that Pam next to the Bentley! What is the model number, is that what they call the Regatta Flyback?
  2. It is a hard position to be in. Firstly, if this has been your grail watch for 3 years, and you have always wanted one, your desire for the watch will not disappear. Secondly, will you think in a years time, 'I wish I had that Daytona on my wrist now, instead of that clapped out rep I bought that is now sitting in the drawer' or 'I'm glad I still have that 10k in the bank to buy another rep Daytona'? If it is the first buy it. Thirdly, what would the resale value be like on this watch (I am not too knowledgable about the Rolexs). If the resale is good, and in a years time you think the second of the two thoughts, you can always sell it on. If you are in a stable position, with a secure job, and you can afford to buy the watch, without having to worry about how to pay the next bill, go for it. At least then you will have experienced your holy grail watch. If it doesn't meet your expectations, then sell it on. However, I have a big feeling that you will love it, and in a years time, be looking back on this night as the turning point in your watch collection, and have one of the most sought after Rolex's in your collection!
  3. If it is the UPO as offered by Andrew and Joshua etc... - then their new rubbe strap is the best version to go for. I have heard very good things about this strap, having a much more genuine feel to it than the other versions. If you have the Silix 'UPO' you will need to use his strap.
  4. Nice watch, and what an aircraft you get to fly there! What airlines do you work for to get to fly passenger jets such as that?
  5. Personally as long as it is clear what work has been done, if some hard work has gone into it I don't mind paying upto a certain point to allow the seller to recoup their money. Blatant overcharging for a watch that can be made for much less is another matter. It is ok for the members who have been around for a while who can spot it, but less informed people may well end up buying a second hand watch for alot more than they should have. Free market yes, but this community is here to protect people, so I feel that to a certain extent we should be able to advise people if a watch is overpriced. If done in a friendly manner through PM first, then if needs be, put a little opinion into their thread that the watch in questioncan in fact be bought brand new for cheaper! Respect for the seller is upheld, and the overall objective of RWG, to protect the community is also observed.
  6. I'm still undecided between the SMP and Swiss HBB;
  7. Looks brilliant! One of the best PO's I've seen!
  8. I never offer the information, but if someone asks me whether it is real or not then I am straight with them. For me I sometimes find that people are more fascinated that it is a replica rather than a genuine. 'it's a replica' 'haha very funny, nice watch' 'no honestly it is a replica' 'wow, didn't realise they made them this well...' and the conversation goes from there Having said that, it all depends on the situation, if someone with a cruddy rep called me out, and was the smart [censored] type, I may reply with something along the lines of, well yes it is a replica, but as you're so obviously wearing a genuine, why would I spend x amount for such a bad quality product! He thinks he's fooled me, but I know what a complete @rse he is
  9. It may not be as accurate as the SOSF but it is accurate enough to warrant being put in the same class as the SOSF. In terms of accuracy I would put it just behind the SOSF, but way ahead of watches such as the UPO.
  10. Looks like the pre ultimate, no AR, no stick marker after the 10 on the top sub-dial.
  11. Im not so sure, there aren't huge boundaries between my gens and my reps!
  12. V2 has the mark after the 10 on the top sub dial as per the gen. Has slightly better date font, the double AR, hand lume was better colour and the bezel was slightly better finished. I believe the graphite is probably the most accurate along with the white if it is still available. The two tone version is available in the V2 also, can get them fomr most of the dealers I believe.
  13. Congratulations on such a great vintage collection!
  14. They wear very niceley. They aren't bulky looking watches, it wears slightly bigger than a navitimer, but doesn't seem as big as a SOSF or UPO
  15. SOSF! I have one for sale in the for sale section as we speak (page 2)
  16. I think that these new great replicas make buying gens more futile for people who wouldn't buy gens or who aren't in the position to by gens. However, I think that people who prefer gens or are in more of a postiion to buy them, replicas dont make them less valuable per se, but they would select their gens/reps according to taste and what watches they really want the gens of. As for the price of the rep/gen, I feel that with the increase in prices, it has become more of a consideration when buying a replica. I would certrainly buy the asian movement SOSF over the swiss now, due to the price of the swiss version. The ability to poick up a gen SOSF for
  17. Great choices! Does that Pam have a 7753 in it? Enjoy your holidays!
  18. It is all so true that even gens come through with some flaws. My SMP has a slight off centre datewheel for a few of the numbers
  19. Just read the item description, it says white/silver sub dials, which would be true to the genuine
  20. Dial colour is black, but the AR will give the dial a blueish appearance in some lights due to the coating giving a blue hue on the crystal. I haven't seen any clear pictures of the subdials so can't comment on those
  21. If it were not as wide, and had diffeent case screws it would have potential for being quite a looker, to me it looks like the deisgn team ran out of ideas!
  22. I'm not a Rolex fan, but those two are very nice! How big is the black GMT?
  23. My 2000th Post Since I can remember, I have always had a fascination for time pieces. I remember being so excited about receiving a
  24. Very nice, with double AR coating and Swiss datewheels that would be a great rep!
