  1. I feel like I'm more and more anal about watches as I stay here longer and longer... I don't know if it's a good thing or not. Sometimes ignorance is blessing. At least I can save a lot of $$ on watches. Back to the topic. I think sometimes we will need to know where we are at and what price point we are talking about and adjust our behavior/expectations accordingly. As for doing business, it's best if both seller and buyer can come out winners.
  2. Isn't that if you drink two of those 18-year ones, you've gotten yourself a 36-year one? Sorry, I'm being stupid Not a drinker myself.
  3. Our Costco here only has Cartier, Tag and white dial Breitling SOSF ($1999).
  4. Kasi: Size is no problem with me as I normally wear Skyland or SA. I was attempted on a blue one as well, but I don't know how accurate the blue is. Do you have any pictures of your blue one? Chronoluvvv: Thanks for sharing with me your white one. It's really nice! It's my other choice. Do you know if the gen one is silver dial or white or off white like the SOSF?
  5. Yeah, gen RXW is a homage of the original IMHO. I have never done any business with southerncross, I bought mine from the bay. The rep rep looks ok. Pretty good price. You can do some molding on it, but it will be difficult to find a sapphire crystal for it that looks like one on RXW. Vaccum makes pretty nice fiddy homages with sapphire crystals. He sells his for approx 600 bucks (two year old price)
  6. Hi all, Lately I have been wanting a Breitling Bentley Flying B. I know the rep may be thicker than gen, but it's just so hot! I like all the different colored dials, but I'm planning on only getting one. Could you please tell me which one is more closer to gen? Wrist shots are also appreciated (try to figure out how big it will be on my 7.5" wrist)! Thanks!
  7. Some links for you: Gen is very nice, well finished. One thing I can tell rep from gen is the shape of the crown. On gen, the crown is very flat on top whereas it's some what domed on the rep. On the gen the sapphire creates interesting vertical distortion on the number 6 and 12. Here is mine: Ever since a Rolex dealer serviced mine, I have never opened my case. But, these are what I found on the web. Sometimes the best way to tell a rep from gen is to open the case. Good luck!
  8. Thank you NaviChief! Here is mine. As you can see, the dw is sunken.
  9. Thanks K! I have two coming on my way. Can't wait to show them off... you'll see
  10. The bezel insert doesn't look gen to me, which leads me to question whether the case is gen.
  11. Breitling Movement Base Movement B01 Calibre Breitling, first and only in-house movement B10 ETA 2892-A2 B11 Lemania 1873 B12 Lemania 187 B13 Valjoux 7750 B17 ETA 2824 B18 ETA 2892-A2 B19 ETA 2892-A2 B20 Valjoux 7750 B22 ETA 2892-A2 B24 Valjoux 7754 B26 ETA 2892-A2 B30 ETA 2892-A2 B33 ETA 2892-A2 B34 ETA 1185/86 B35 ETA 2892 B36 ETA 2892 B38 ETA 2892-A2 B39 ETA 2892-A2 B40 ETA 2892-A2 B41 ETA 2892 B42 ETA 2892 B43 Valjoux 7758 B44 ETA 2892 B45 ETA 2834-2 Note: The ETA 2892 movements used in Breitling chronographs have been modified by the addition of a chronograph module by Dubois/Depraz.[citation needed]
  12. It's in Bentley Flying-B Chronograph (Cal 44), Navitimer 92 (Cal 30), Navitimer Olympus (Cal 19), Navitimer Heritage (Cal 35), Navitimer QP 95 (Cal 18), Navitimer 1952 SE (Cal 41), Navitimer Spatiographe (Cal 36), Navitimer Twin Sixty (Cal 39), Navitimer Twin Sixty 2 (Cal 39), Navitimer Premier (Cal 40)... They are pretty much all over the board with modified 2892 movement. The problem is, to franken Navitimer, one not only needs to source the movement, also the dial and correct case... That becomes difficult IMHO.
  13. I don't mind that at all. Navitimer with date button, I can live with that.
  14. Metal? That's interesting. I thought they are more stable than rubber... I'm no chemist, I could be totally off base. I certainly don't want anything that has lead in it at least.
  15. I don't think you will necessarily develop a rash before anything happen. For example, birth control patches don't develop a rash, yet the chemical gets observed into your body. Some of them have been proven to be harmful.
  16. Because you said no one could guess what that is... My guess is it's one of those vintage Breitling chronos.
  17. Dude, This is not a funny matter. Don't we all want to wear our favorite pieces with good health. I mean will it disturb you a little bit knowing something would harm you... I know we can get into a car accident or fall off stairs at any moment or do some stupid to cause immediate harm, but that still doesn't give permission to not care about the little things.
  18. Hmm... I don't use those neither... But, I see your point. I guess what I worried about mainly on the rep rubber since they were not regulated by anybody. It's really up to the rep manufactures. The probably use the cheapest and widely available material they can find. As for the deodorants, I think they are regulated. I mean we won't buy rep deodorants.
  19. From looking at the quality of the deployant and engravings, it doesn't look like gen to me. Since I don't have anything here to compare, I could be wrong though.
  20. I use to not liking rubber straps at all, but for some reason they really look good on Breitling. Now I'm torn Any doctors or chemists here??
  21. Hi Pete, I see. I hope a Navi will come out soon that has better case... Good luck with your search and project! Cougaree
  22. Seems to me there are some many materials to make rubber straps, silicone based vs natural rubber vs some other kind. What made me starting to think about this topic was that I recently noticed there were warning labels on some of the black rubber stuff sold in the stores. The message is something like this rubber may contain lead or things, birth defect, etc, etc. My question is should I be worried / cautious about the actual material that makes our favorite watch straps? The rep industries are certainly not bounded with any liabilities. Any thoughts? Hopefully this is an interesting topic for you.
