Moore the best Bond??? Please!! Too soft to be taken seriously. Connery will always be the greatest Bond....followed by Brosnan....then Dalton. I even prefer Lazenby to Moore. I admit it may be due to the fact that the Moore Bond movies tried too hard for hackneyed humor.

I got my first replica. What i have to do?
jkerouac replied to ryaku's topic in Introduction/Rules/Support
One other very, very important point. If your watch comes with a THIN RED LINE, do not remove it. If you do, the TRL police (closely affiliated with the mattress sticker SWAT team), will be after you in no time. -

Always a good idea to polish a new arrival. You'll love it even more. I presume your new watch is SS. I use a cloth sold specifically for polishing jewelry--one half has a gentle cleaner, the other half provides a deep polish. Cost $5 or so. Other people have thier own solutions, including Cape Cod cloth, car wax/cleaners, but you should search the forum for specifics. Skip the soft scrub and brillo pad. Some people say it is best not to set date when time is near 12:00. Many date machanisms are a bit different. My suggestion is to be extra gentle as you become familiar with your watch. -
Thanks. I was asking about the good, but the information about the 'bad' is at least as valuable, if not more so. Members need to hear these things.

Makes you feel good about security at our military based, doesn't it.

Bump. My RWG is one of my favorites. It's beautiful, comfortable, and I wear it often. But it detracts significantly from my enjoyment of this watch to know that other participants in the project were stiffed. That's why I contributed to this fund.

Thank goodness I'm a newbie again so I can ask basic questions guilt free. I just received an IWC GST chrono from Joshua, and he recommends this burn-in process: I generally assume that the most vulnerable parts of a rep chrono are the pushers. But on my other chronos (a Venus Speedmaster and a Venus Pan 192), I just let them run. I love watching the big sweeper and subdials run. I use the reset functions when I actually want to time something, which is rare (once a month, perhaps). Otherwise I let them run. I mean, what's the point of having extra hands if you almost never see them in action? I'm going to follow Joshua's advice for the first 30 days or so. But after that, I don't know. So here are my questions: 1) Do you follow burn-in periods on your chronos? 2) After the burn-in period, do you use your chronos sparingly, or do you simply let them run? Thanks in advance for sharing your insights.

Uh, officer, is this really crack I bought? Man arrested after allegedly handing pipe to cops for an authenticity check The Associated Press Updated: 6:31 p.m. ET March 22, 2006 TAMPA, Fla. - A man is behind bars in Tampa after allegedly asking two uniformed officers to test a crack pipe. Police say the man doubted whether he was being sold actual crack cocaine, so he approached the officers and asked them to test his pipe so he could be sure. Turned out it was the real thing. Authorities say the man was arrested after the residue in his pipe tested positive for crack cocaine. He's listed in jail records as a security worker at MacDill Air Force Base.

DT, You didn't tell us what you received. Inquiring minds want to know. Congrats by the way. Hope your luck holds.

Leaving for Italy tomorrow--what should I bring?

I'd be surprised if the same street vendors aren't still out in force peddling fakes directly under the nose of the authorities. Let us know what you find. And enjoy your trip, -
Based on your choice of smilies I assume you are joking.

I love Omegas, and both the SMP and Planet Ocean are great watches, but let's face it -- the choice of watch for James Bond has less to do with the "cool factor" and everything to do with the manufacturer paying beaucoup bucks for key product placement. In Omega's case their big 007 Seamster billboards and magazine ads doubled as ads for the watch and ads for the Bond franchise. Movie makers drool over stuff like that.

Somehow I don't think they were trying to say that Legos or that the Danes are racist. And if that is the message that people get from this poster, then it isn't very good advertising. Actually I don't think it's a very good advertisement. As for your second statement regarding Denmark's challenges with immigration (or any country's, for that matter) and whether Muslims can ever adapt, that is a second larger discussion topic.

I love this Watch. Omega Speedy Limited Edition
jkerouac replied to GarKinG's topic in Rep vs. Genuine
A classy looking watch. Wear it well. Quartz is a step up from the non-functioning or pseduo-functioning chronos that are available at the low end, so don't be swayed by critics. If you enjoy the watch and find its functions useful, then you don't need any more opinions. Yours is the only opinion that matters. -
Welcome Chino. I hope you find all the answers... and discussion...and cameraderie.... that you've come to expect.

Thanks very much for the follow up. I will have the same done for mine. I could do the glue myself, I suppose, but I would probably be too heavy-handed and create problems later. Until then I check the pushers repeatedly by gently turning them. But that is not a long-term solution.

You realize of course that whether UDub or UConn wins, the Huskies will advance in the tournament!

Great pictures, Sub. I just received mine earlier today, and my photographic skills would not equal yours. You definitely do this watch justice. By the way, when I was polishing my GST for the first time the lower pusher fell off. Fortunately it wasn't too hard to find and I was able to screw it back on. But I wonder if anyone else has run into this problem (loose pushers)?

One of the most bizarre aspects of life in the U.S. (and there certainly are a lot to choose from) in my opinion is college sports, particularly football and basketball. We encourage our institutions of higher learning to be farm leagues for the major professional sports leagues. Guys who will earn millions as soon as they turn pro, spend 4-5 years with scholarships and (all too frequently) pseudo educations as rewards for playing on colleges' "amateur" teams. The rationale is that they bring in money for non-sports programs by giving alumni teams to root for and brag about. In my opinion, both football and basketball should both just have semi-pro or development leagues (like baseball's minor leagues) and let the pro clubs foot the bill. And let colleges and universities focus on education and academic excellence (now there's a concept.) Having unburdened myself of this rant, I have to admit that the NCAA basketball tournament is the most compelling annual sports dramas in the US. For me it ranks up there with the Tour de France and close to the Olympics and soccer World Cup. So who are your teams? And who do you think is going to win? I had three favorites in this year's tournament. I have degrees from Boston College and Illinois. BC is still alive and faces off against Villanova first, and then would meet the winner of Georgetown/Florida. I think they have a very good shot at making the Final Four for the first time ever. I live in Seattle, so the University of Washington is a hometown favorite. Unfortunately, they booted my second alma mater, Illinois, from the tournament. But I won't hold that against them. They have a tougher challenge facing them in Connecticut. If they can handle UConn, then they ought to make it into the Final Four as well. The other two brackets are tougher for me to call. From the Oakland Regional, the key game is Gonzaga/UCLA. UCLA has the heritage, but Gonzaga has been extremely competitive in the tournament for some years recently. I'd love for them to pick it up a notch and beat UCLA. In the other half of the bracket, Bradley is my underdog choice. They have often had good, feisty basketball teams. I'd love for them to move on. But the Final Four pick for me is either UCLA or Gonzaga. The Atlanta Regional seems like Duke's to lose. I want to like Duke because their school has the strongest academics in the tournament, and I prefer strong academic schools to win over schools whose only claim to fame is sports. On the other hand, Duke is a perennial favorite, and I generally root against perennial favorites. But this bracket has a 1, 2, 4 and 6 seeds, so any one of them could break through to the Final Four. For me this is a wild card regional. So who is going to take all the marbles? As much as I want BC and Washington to go all the way, BC has a better shot because they've played in the ACC and lost to Duke by the slimmest of margins. I would also have no complaints with either Gonzaga or UCLA. But then there is always Duke. If someone can knock Duke off in this week's rounds, then the Final Four could be wide open.

Some years ago my brother picked up my girlfriend, sister, and me in Lugano and drove us to Florence. He had just gotten a new video camera. He spent much of the trip filming and driving at the same time. Fortunately he did not do this on the AutoStrada when he was cruising at top speeds. But I still watch the video every year or two and it's great fun reliving those memories. In that spirit, I hope you were not driving or skiing too fast when you took these pictures. We'd hate to be responsible for any broken limbs. Of course on the other hand, if you did have an accident you could always convalesce with Ken. We look forward to your April pictures. From what I hear, central Europe has a lot of snow this year.

Which Of Yours Gets The Most Female Attention?
jkerouac replied to statikman's topic in General Discussion
Ken, I was going to say that the woman who notices my watches the most is my wife -- as in, "Is that ANOTHER new watch? How many do you have now?" The solution is to not let her see them for the first month or so. Then I can respond, "No, I've had this one for a while now." -
Take Jjah's count, 87 plus FirstWave's 19 = 106 Add my 8 -- no wait, the doorbell rang just as I started to respond, and the mailman brought #9 (who'd a thunk it?) -- so the new total is 115.

I can just imagine you, jtb: "Excuse me miss, would you like to see my Plongeur? Perhaps you would like to handle my Plongueur as well?? It takes a licking and keeps on ticking." Just be careful the boyfriend is not in the vicinity.
