  1. Ok.. it has come down to this.. sheezz... comparisons of 2 reps .. HBB.. at least we are stepping it up a notch instead of reviewing reps and genuines it is now reviewing reps to a copy of a rep... ... edit.. i should say a copy of the V-1 ceramic.. since it is the same maker.. ma bad.. I was really pleasantly surprised after opening the box and finding that the PVD Bezel is not all that bad and at a glance even on close inspection you would really have to know ceramics and HBB's to tell the difference in Bezel.. granted this is not the polished bezel that should go on the Black Magic . but I rather like the soft tone of the brushed ceramic on my SS/ceramic version .. Let's take a LOOK.. again the Black magic PVD is the "lite" version and i should point out the PVD appears to be anodized.. there is only a slight difference in the finish of the ceramic to the PVD.. seems like there are more "fibers" in the finished ceramic but the dials look good together.. the ceramic BM has the same dial i believe.. the lite .. red colour on the chrono second hand is a bit matte compared to the V-1 the most obvious difference is of course the AR.. but this is fixable ..chieftang or K2222 the Lite version even has the serations on the side of the bezel both have gaps at parts of the bezel .. at the same areas the height differs by a fraction of a mm.. the lite version is a bit shorter in height and notice the light reflects more off the ceramic bezel same crown and pushers rubber starp .. the lite version is a little softer than the version 1 but not noticable on the wrist. case back and rotor are the same as is the serial numbers.. lite version ceramic version I would not have posted this comparison but the difference in cost and the fact that the PVD bezel was a welome surprise prompted me to post this comparison. Thanks for viewing and I hope this adds to your decision making Lani
  2. The genuine crystal is amazing in that it would appear at times that the crystal not only disappears but actually looks like it has no crystal .. kind of freaky at times thinking that the dail and hands are exposed.. Also, the AR does not look very 'heavy " on the coating , yet the quality is superb... genuine .....is....... Genuine
  3. still...."hurry up and wait",... not yet
  4. since the crystal does not appear to be AR'd i would side with the white dial.. and the white would be good with formal wear.. so you need at least one white dial..IMO
  5. It is still available... i believe a genuine was used in the replication by Joshua (Perfect Clones) PM me if you have any questions..
  6. 21600 vph .. no ar.. still good rep.. same makers as the SOSF (lite version) .. although it would need to go out for AR genuine.. replication.. edit:.. given the scarcity of the correct spacing in the Omega's ..until the speedmaster date,.. sonner or later I will probably get this also.. what can i say..
  7. I understand Arch... didn't take it personal.. you are 100% correct in the fact that i went with what other members whom I thought had more knowledge that myself.. ...even monkeys fall out of trees..... meaning no one is infallible.. so it is a lesson well learned to verify all info before posting, or putting an asterisk next to the statement.. I should know better after the time that i have been here.. so i will take this as a learning experience and be mindful not to repeat it.. I try and learn by my mistakes .. insanity is defined as doing the same thing expecting different results.. so, no worries.. hey, what happened to all the stuff everyonee else has.. .lightning bolt,.. stars .. agree... unfriendly .. Lani
  8. As i understanfd the BCE white dial .. the correct colour is a little egg shell white.. the colour of the dial differs depending on the lighting.. in sunlight it will be bright white.. and in twilight it should be a little cream colour.. this is supposed to be the correct dial colour.. remember the stick dial and the numerals are very different in dial design with the difference in concentric rings ans the way the light bounces off the dial.. IMHO I could be wrong.. but that is how I understand it to be..
  9. thank you .. i now stand corrected and pleasantly so.. i should do more research as now "it's all good".. ok lello commented he will have DW.. i have a gen. crown and it's going for relume as soon as the DW is available.. if one thing good came from my blunder it's 'learning" to do the footwork before posting as i am sure this is the first time it's happened.. so i will learn form the members that have gone down the same road.. .. and now can pass it on.. so do you guy's think the 11 marker is a bit off or is that an original genuine flaw.. or am i crossed eyed??
  10. once again.. an example of abusing a good thing...when i send parcels to Ziggy i don't bother to check with tracking or Ziggy.. that equates to "trust" .. Ziggy has a long before Me .. track record of efficient and honourable horology work.. Good,.. qualified Horologist are trust worthy.. and IMHO .. i am not even concerned with the time frame.. that said.. has anyone ever had a problem with Ziggy.. Ziggy usaually fixes "our" problems.. gotta respect that..it's not like going to have your bracelet sized.. as most "watch smiths" can do only that nowdays ... oh yeah and change batteries Value Added = Ziggy and J**.
  11. Breitling SOSF on leather......
  12. if u notice the genuine crown is a little larger at the area where the logo is.. thus the area with the teeth is not as exposed as the rep crown .. which has a shorter 'head' as i will call it.. thus the teeth and edge are closer to your skin.. and the second reason..(this is really a 2 part concern) .. the chrono being a thicker movement,... the case 'rides" higher on your wrist ergo.. the crown is not as close to you joint.. conversely the regular auto movement is thinner thus flatter on the case back, ergo... riding lower on your wrist.. so the crown will "sink"into your wrist.. the fit of the bracelet also is affected by the thickness of the case.. so the same links taken out from both bracelets will have a different fit due to the thickness of the case because of the movement.. I wear my bracelets with enough room to fit my little finger between the clasp and my wrist .. not loosely and not tight .. just a semi snug fit.. to allow for my wrist to swell with diet and temperature.. i like it a bit loose but not overly loose, with this fit the crown is not a problem and the bracelet does not 'swim' on my wrist .. it's a little cooler also.. but .. if you can get the genuine crown and tube because eventually you will have to replace the rep ones anyway... i just got the chrono done and i am ordering the regular crown and tube also.. the mechanics of the watch with the genuine feel better also.. genuine crown.. rep crown see the difference in the in the tip of the crown.. genuine has more rounded tip with genuine crown notice the difference in the height of the movement and how it rides on your wrist.. so the bracelets will differ in size naturally.. I know it's a long winded explanation to a simple Question... takes longer to write it out..
  13. actually the colour of the dial seems to be darker blue in the natural light without direct sunlight.. and in flourecent lighting the AR gives of a purplish hue that makes the dial appear to have the purple tint.... what do you think of that observastion lello??.. does the dial (genuine) give off different hues due to the AR and the satin finish?? and great, I was going to inquire about your DW on these movements.. thankyou for that~!!! and yes .. i noticed the stamping on the case back was a liitle off .. but I am more concerned about the dial.. not only the swiss lettering but the 11 marker seems to be favouring the 12 a bit.. if you can come up with a correct dial .. that would be awesome !!!! but i am happy with this one as this is the first rep. Pam that i have gotten where the CG is very .. very good .. as far as flushness to the case .. perfect tension in the lever and flushness in the lever and CG, also the right amount of pressure on the crown.. which will be modded with the genuine anyway.. so really its hard with the Pam reps to have all things measure up to our standards .. so the lesser of two evils is the one i really want.. but i hope U can get all of those to be great !! here's some pics in natural lighting without direct sunlight
  14. if you look closely in the right lighting.. the sub seconds dial has very fine concentric rings; through a loupe you can define them.. don't know if this is on the genuine or just the machining of the dial.. it would appear to be purposely put there..
  15. Panerai 229 Firenze cool enough for the rubber strap Vintage White and Red Logo Omega Speedmaster Date
  16. your talking about the crystal right the dial is sausage.. and the mag is better than the 092 especially from a distance of 1 meter.. no comparison to yours .. but still a whole lot better than the 092.. check out the 12 marker are my eyes bad or is it favouring the 11 marker? .. and yes the font on the DW is a bit off .. this has perked my intrest in Pams again though
  17. ok .. so I'm back.. got my PO back from Ziggy.. Genuine Dial... Crystal.. Crown and tube .. relume hands and pearl thank you for the fantastic work Ziggy !!!
  18. personally .. lellos DW are closer to genuine. or "like" the genuine.. but this is a vast improvement over the past years.. when the font was the asian eta. or swiss eta font.. you should look at the overall build.. IMHO instead of individual flaws that will probably never be perfect .. unless you put a lot of $$ in Mod work, i think the panerai rep can be like a fishing pleasure boat.. you just keep putting more money into it.. so i have a limit for how much i want to put into it.... and u still have to source the parts.. genuine parts will not fit.. so for me this is a great improvement over the previous model.. edit: the crown.. ziggy has moded the genuine crown to fit my 029 it is thinner and has more "teeth" refer to my post on bazonkers thread ..his 229 post.. i have pics of the genuine crwon.. as far as I know only Ziggy hs been sucsessful in modding the genuine crown to the rep. ... the CG if you can ever get a genuine .. can not fit.. regading the engraving.. most of the movements come from a 'state" run factory where contraband is off limits.. thus when makers engrave a rotor, they do it seperately from the movement factory.. it runs into extra cost passed on to us..the majority of the population never heard of panerai.. so for my purposes .. it's all good..
  19. I am infatuated with the colours of the Omega .."Vintage white and Red Omega Logo" and started thinking of Art and colours.. to me, man cannot duplicate what nature has evolved .. so I needed a day .. or morning to "mellow" out with hawaii's rain forests.. waterfalls .. etc... along the way i found .COLOUR.. that went well with the Omega's ... Splash nature..not enhanced Red Ginger my all time fav for photos or on canvas... the "Bird of Paradise" I don't know if this belongs in the Omega area .. but I wanted to post the contrast in colours with the new release Omega "Speedmaster Date" I hope you liked the small hike around my Aina.. Thanks for viewing Lani
  20. Panerai 104 overall a good buyu.. we've been waiting for this one from last year .. worth the wait.. instead of the negatives let's go with something positive first.. the cyclops has improve no match for chieftang though .. but an improvement over the 092.. although the cyclops on my 229 is a bit better.. no distortion on that one.. and the AR is pretty much as the genuine is .. although to compare the crystal to a genuine Panerai is like comparing apples and oranges.. but for my purposes let's say i am pleased.. the dial is a bit off.. from the l swiss made L to the marker at the 11 I will leave the detailed review to those who are more knowledgable with the panerai's .. but here are some pics [attac ment=19195:IMG_2269.JPG] thanks for viewing lani
  21. just arrived.. PAM .. 104 and 229 the dial on both are a bit off.. but I am very happy with the improvements in the cyclops,.. AR... and out of the box lume.. still going to Canada though
  22. Just when You stop thinking about it .. it arrives.. Thanks to Ziggy I have a PO with a genuine: dial,.. crystal,.. crown-tube and hands lumed to match the dial I opted not to go with the bezel as that would exceed "my" ceiling and get sort of close to a used genuine.. so anyway.. pics believe it or not the lume shot ws taken just in the shade.. add on the wrist shots thanks for the great work on my PO Ziggy !!!
  23. keeps getting better... but still ..no cigar.. still better over all.. saved your cyclops for somrthing special.. still undecided as this one on the 229 is better than the 092.. but i would not use it on the 092 either
  24. Congrats Baz... the long wait is finally over !! but it was well worth it ... with a few things that would really bother me if i keep looking at them..(which i tend to do thinking I can make them dissapear by "willing them away") if I could add to your pics.. mine aren't as nice ... just some things i noticed to..sorry forgot my manners .. iis it ok to elaborate with pics?? Thanks Baz.. sorry this is a very eclectic post.. I pressed the wrong key someplace.. scuze this is the bomb.. just a few things of note.. the dial looks good.. although the L swiss made l is kissing the 6's butt... that's 1.. the 11 marker would appear a bit off to the left..(but that could just be me).. the sub dial is sunken and matte the rest of the dial a satin finish midnight blue.. although the Ar adds to colouring it a bit on the Azure blue/purple when in different angles..but without the AR present it is a darker Blue...there is great improvement from the last attempt at the cyclops and font !! you are able to see the font from a good distance away.. no distortion .. like in the 092 from last year... the genuine can be viewed clearly when you are well away from the timepiece.. unreal optical in the genuine. $$$$.. the lume is good (out of the box) but still needs a Ziggy lume...the spacing of the lettering appears to be perfect except for the L....., colouring is white.... the markers and numerals appear correct and the lume colour is great.. as far as i can tell to the gen pics. what I really was happy about is the CG.. this is the best one (that I have gotten) to date.. very flush and look at the lever dead smooth with the CG .. i hope all the 229 reps are this way.. *if your CG lever is loose U may try filing the seat of the CG just a fraction of a mm.. i put a genuine crown for sample next to the rep .. the genuine is thinner and has more "teeth" .. the outside is polished as opposed to satin on the Rep.. (auto) have the thin crowns.. All in all it keeps getting better and better .. it was worth the wait.. now off to Ziggy and hurry up and wait .. again LIVE STRONG AND WEAR IT WELL.. BZ
