it is really the luck of the draw.. if wild life and game chooses to open your parcel "to the US" and it is without the proper CITIES certificate it will be contacted and sent to the forensic lab for inquiry as to the type of Hyde... if it is determined to be on the Endangered species list (reptile) then it will be confinscated. this has happened once to me,.. my other parcels were not opened.. (mainly reptile from Canada).. so it is not guaranteed.. but I believe you are inquiring about reptile straps being sent "from" the US to Asia.. therefore this is easily answered by making a call.. if it is not legal without a cities certificate and it is going to say a country such as Japan.. then that would be cause for concern.. if it is going to say China or other Asian countries then you take your chances and hope for the best. BTW... CITIES certificates are very troublesome to obtain (I answer your question with facts that I have experienced so "you" can decide what's best...)

the genuine also comes with black crown lever.. will upload pics tomorrow.

I had issues with a gator strap shipped to US from EU .... call Homeland Security and ask.. not illegal to ask.. i think only reptile hide going to overseas .. then coming backafter it has been manufactured into a retail product do you need CITES certificate.. but .. just call with a caller ID block on your phone and inquire.. it may be totally legal, rather than guess..i have no trouble sending it to Canada ... but I'm not sure about Asia.. it would not be US customs involved but the country that it is being sent to..

It would seem this thread has grown into the "drama' of pug's reputation... sheez... i think certain members should focus on what the topic of discussion is .. that pug intended... not should "pug" be compensated for reviews .. this was not the topic ..IMO the "principle" of this thread needs to be focused on... not the "personalities" I think polls are just adding to the drama... it seems like the consensus would be ... No .. members should not be paid for reviews.. no matter how good they are .. or at least that is my stance.. no one is questioning pugs character or integrity .. but by defending the person.. it would seem like this is the case.. which IMHO ...IT IS NOT.... nor was it ever meant to be Now i read the review.. and it stated that the dealer sent this rep to the member and "asked" him to do the review.. so it was not solicited.. ...PERIOD.. and pug took the initiative to ask the members .... not about "him" but about the principle of the action... so if anything can the "principle' be focused on and not the "member" who posted it...
-
I think the point should be brought up ..... If a member is asking a collector for a gifted watch in return for a review that would "sell" his or her watch .. then the question of ethics should be raised.. if a collector approaches a member and asked for an honest review.. good or bad on a watch .. then that should be taken into consideration in deciding guidelines edit.. but then again what collector would gift a watch for a negative
-
First off,.. Hat's off to Pug for having the integrity to step up to the plate with this topic.. IMO it can be very controversial (to say the least) .. and everything does happen for a reason.. I have been contemplating adding a disclaimer on my threads of new releases stating that all watches that I post are paid in full by me and are not gifted in return for any "reviews" or positive post toward the collector for the purpose of monetary gain.. I have been .. let me put this correctly .. because I don't feel that I am in the same "league" as bytor, Pug, nor Pix... they to me have the "suavivity" (yeah I made that word up) .... in their reviews with studio pics and great presentation... What I attempt to do is give members ... the same visual as "I" see it meaning ..natural lighting and a "real time" kind of image... I attempt to list the points of interest.. and the "fixable" flaws that up until recently all reps have had.. do I post bad negative reps....no because i do my best not to buy those.. i trust my collector to tell me yeh.. or neh.. and if a genuine has been disected or if it was reped from pics.. But notice I do not list my collector.. and for a very good reason,... i do not represent his product line..and actually I have PMed some members with this fact.. when asked to name my collector.. I do not do this on the board (naming my collector) or if I have .. I have changed my mind set on that.. the reason being that "to me".. (i speak only for myself and not as a hint to what should be done by others) this would be tantamount to "advertising" IMHO For me.. ethically I would have to be aligned with a company to accept any complimentory products... thus I would "be part of the team" and with being a part of the team I would have to "back" and "support" that team .. weather I think that they are right or wrong...this brings up another issue ... If I were a collector that was not investing in product development .. as was started by Honpo ... I would not get the exclusive selling period as the collectors that invested in the genuine watch would.. would this lead to mis-information... ie. false rumors about my competitor? .. which could divide the RWG or groups into taking sides .. this is evident on the forum IMHO. Yes there are certain collectors that do not have access to the replications that some do .. and I believe it is like any other commodity.. they invest in what the factories produce.. they have a vested interest in the product.. All support and warranty that I get now I have gotten for the last year .. before I started posting new releases ... and this is how it should be straight across the board for all members ... our factory collectors ..IMHO are the best as far as replications .. if there are better for the price i have not seen them.. My collector has never pushed or requested that I post a "review" .. I do this in part to give back.. for information .. because without information we are "lost' in all areas of life... In closing I enjoy the great reviews by Pug..bytor and pix... it does not "bother" me that someone may recieve complimentary items .. in other words I am not lobbying to reach this level .. i only speak for my fellings pertaining to me .. and how "I" approach this topic.. thanx again Pug.. Aloha Ke Akua Lani

Checked the lever and the replication is identical to the genuine, I rather like the contrast of silver and black (case set).. with that said my Overlord should be out of customs on Saturday.... as stated by other members, it is not a timepioece that I would put on a lot.... but cool to have in my coolection to wear occasionally

@Takashi .... were the 2 slevins from the same collector ? And are they of basically the same quality movements ? It's my understanding that these reps are stalled in part because of the availability of sourcing enough movements, so at times whatever movements (if they are of equal quality) can be sourced may be used.. but not for the purpose of more profit.. And to clarify my post not to debate it ... the question was posed as to mainly the inner bezel.. so I presented the "facts". and the truth of the fact is the slevin has the better inner bezel component.... When I post these comparisons it is to give the members the opportunity to judge for themselves which rep they would like or not like... watches , like women are a personal choice, ..some like only one .... others like a variety ... and others like them all The later two are if you are single and unattached (disclaimer) So I am not saying the Slevin is a better overall rep ... if I had to choose .. I take all three I like the 06 for it's basic style ..... the 07 for the added look of the sub dials and colour .... and the slevin for the inner bezel and bracelet... so what does that mean ... that I'm a good judge of reps......or ... I'm easy but not cheap ... again I'll let you decide...... Oh and one other thing... how does everyone get such good close ups without blurring out the pic ? i can't find my manual for my camera... yup I was one of those kids that didn't like to use instructions when building my models

OK PamM... instead of giving you my opinion.. I'll try to give you the data so you can decipher for your self what you want to do.. ..... OK family photo .. if it were just for the aesthetics it would be a hard call .. they all have their own uniqueness .... this would be the inner bezel at a half click .. to align it properly .. it will slide out eventually.. .... this is the alignment on the last click .. so we are short of proper alignment ergo you have to manually align it to half a turn.. .... same with the previous Cousteau.. half a click will align it note:.. the inner bezel on both CD's .."hops" a little when turning it too quickly.. but it is not loose when stationary ....the Slevin on the other hand is spot on ,.. it does have a fraction of a mm "play"but when the crown at the 4 is turned all the way it flushes with the chrono hand and 12 marker the function of the bezel when turning is 100% improved over the previous 2 cousteau's IMO .. the inner bezel is flat black on the slevin (FYI) so .... Pam .. your major question is regarding the inner bezel.. because IMO all other comparisons ... all three are very, very good quality as far as dial, crown , pushers , all are "solid' but the one defining difference is the inner bezel.. there is no comparison .. slevin hands down.. ....notice out of the box the day date on the slevin is much better in alignment than the CD 06 and 07.. but this is a mute point as they need to be swapped with the genuine ETA.. if you so choose.. just an example of perhaps a little better attention to detail from the maker of the slevin.. ...... aesthetically the 06 has a flat finish in the subs ... while the 07 has very defined concentric rings in the subs .. note also the orange in the 07 is more of a burnt orange than the digital orange in the pic.. also flat in colour On the slevins sub dials you will get a satin glow since the subs are lightly ringed.. but harder to discern because of the black dial.. the AR coating on the CD's are excellent .. maybe not as good as chieftang or K2222 as far as quality but very good by industry standards..however the slevin is lacking double AR it looks like single .. and if it is double .. (leaving room for the benefit of the doubt) it is in fact very very weak. the crystal on the Slevin has a higher apex on the dome as it is smaller in diameter than the CD's, this may add to the weaker AR look that already exists..but fixable, chieftang or k222 .. better that ...than the bezel... ... AR .. almost a none entity the weight on all three are exellent... I am no expert on the case backs (nor the watch for that matter) so i will leave that to the members more knowlegable the slevin has the Rubber strap which is softer than the CD.. which in my opinion before the Porsche Flat six and the Paul Picot chrono came out was the best rep strap (CD's) .. bar none... it is better than the slevin ... but what makes the slevin very different in my opinion is the bracelet... .... so you have a pros and cons .. all three are well made but the inner bezel is the major contributor to the Slevin being more mechaically sound ... so what would you rather have as far as a flaw ... IMO is the question.. I've probably left out some concerns so if any questions .. let me know .. i will do my best to get you the A aloha, Lani

so i post questions and i get labeled with "WTF" .. so now opinions are only for the few that think they have the only say on the forum? so post only what these members want to hear or you'll get zapped with this icon?? mmmm ok if that 's the direction these icons are headed are they really positive?
-
who is your collector? is it the lettered marker?
-
IMHO "rating" or "grading" is it the same? Is it a popularity contest? Is it a "trade" of compliments? Does it give a feeling of control or power to be able to "not grade" or grade everything? When someone grades almost every post .. does it give members the "feeling" of .. what? When stars can be given out randomly does this then become in appreciation or a matter of acceptance into a group or group of members? Just some questions I ask myself as to what is the rating or grading system really do.. does it create negatives or does it "motivate" the positive, in the overall information process of the forum ? Does it enhance the social significance of: be with us or be without us ? Does it enhance Politics or is it just a fast way to compliment ; is the star warranted or just a "feel me" signature? Just a way of massive fast posting? Intent and purpose .... Short fall .... ????? Who knows.. everyone has their own intent and purpose.. i guess time will tell if we are here to be graded ... appreciated .. just be apart of the whole.... or whatever.. maybe it's about replicas..... ...... Just food for thought

HBB Lite PVD Bezel vs. Ceramic
lanikai replied to lanikai's topic in The Two R's Watch Reviews - Lani & Ubi
Up date .. PVD bezels are on their way then they will go to avitt .... to see if the ADCL coat will come close to replicating the polished ceramic look -
You are psychic CF.. I'm in for 4.. thanks

Awesome review Pix . only thing lacking is the AR .. but even without it for the price it's an amazing Rep. IMHO ..too much emphasis is put on wrist "size' and not on what the dial and watch "look" like... big watches weren't meant for just people with huge wrist... after all it is meant to look oversized.. which is part of the look of the pocket (watch) size time pieces.. just my 2 lincolns.. Live strong and wear it well

Congrats It... looks "SOLID" GREAT LOOKING PIECE ... great pics LIVE STRONG AND WEAR IT WELL. Lani
