.. Makes 3.28 usd a gallon for regular.. seem cheap huh?.. everytime i think of liter i see me drinking a 1.5 liter of water in no time.. man the cost of european travel... I met with bikers from Germany once and they explained what it takes to get a operators license.. at the time it was about 6000 usd... that doesn't even include the motorcycle
-
Know what you mean .. my buddy's boat now is costly to run.. used to tkw it to the neighbor islands.. and deep sea fishing... then Bam it gets too costly to have fun
-

with the holiday's upon us .. it is inevitable that there is all of a sudden a shortage of crude.... here in Hawaii the cost of driving went up 25 cents a gallon in under 2 weeks and it will go up again another 25 cents within the next 2 weeks.. What do you pay in your country and does that curtail your traveling?.. myself, I put on 3000 Miles a month .. so i usually read something while the pump is sucking money out of my wallet.. i am up to 87 usd every three day's now... how about you Edit:..3/20/08 .. regular... now @ $3.55 usd and rising daily

... i need a good sense of humor around watches
-
.. NO.. not at all just takes a little patience.. this bracelet was more stubborn than the 3717 black dial .. don't know why but those pins were really easy.. dutchy ... If I can do it anyone can
-
sorry i take so long .. but it's not easy to take the pics .. hold the tool and the bracelet and watch the football game at the same time... and i lost the first post when the patriots scored and I (muscle reflex hit the table with my hand in cheer and BAM.. the post went into cyberspace

Slai.. if you can see the pin will not fit .. or the bracelet will not fit into the pin... either way .. you need to make some room for the pin and if you try to hammer to start with the bracelet in the holder .. how are you going to see where the pin tool is? in this position the lever will not work properly... not enough room where the pin in the bracelet is for the tool pin to fit .. the lever will not work in this position now there is just enough room for the lever to function properly believe me it is easier this way than trying to hammer it out all the way ... these bracelet pins a pretty brittle.. don't ask me how I know

i was asked by a member about the 3717 bracelet.. so here goes.. I used a link for example instead of the whole bracelet.. the bracelet is too wide for the pin to fit into the tool so I take out the pin tool and hammer the pin out 1 or 2 mm manually using a styrafoam box so the pin in the bracelet can come through the foam on the bottom leather hammer 4.00 usd craft store ok just enough .. (stubborn pin) the spring and the pin will still not fit into the tool.. so i can use more force without damaging my fingers or the bracelet i insert the bracelet into the holder and manually hammer with the bracelet secure ok now the pin can fit into the spring and the tool is good to go as normal depress the lever as normal then remove with your plier as normal.. careful with that skinny joint.. don't twist.. use tension not force.. I did not find it easy the first time around in removing the spring bar on the bracelet .. so I improvises.. with your spring bar tool depress the spring bar then stick a tooth pick in the opening ... then use you SB tool to depress the other side and BAM... the bracelet falls right out.. don't know about you but "I" wanted to use a hammer until I tried this..I was not born to work on watches hope this has helped.. I.. have got to get my crystals to chieftang.... the 3717 with the AR is BANGIN... without it it looks good but man .. .... @Merlin that strap is looking good... anyone konw where this comes from it is a EU store? so all the 3717 needs is AR, DW.. which Raymond directed me to .... and .. truth be told i am now gravitating toward that black strap (or brown) that is in the pic by Merlin

I know you make many contributions to the forum Stephane... good thing for the Gators in Louisiana ... Man the AR coating makes such a difference on the black dial does the genuine have such heavy AR?
-
OK.. fair enough ... if some how you felt that I was trying to "slam" you.. then that is a "misunderstanding"... sorry you took that personally.. i thought you were funning and I mistakenly joined in.. and yes every moment that passes is history ... and my comment about Movie stars and such was the fact that I don't have an attracttion to Panerai because they wear them but as i said .. i have an affinity towards Nostalgia ... : I (that is the buzz word) I don't ... but you do.. and that's all good.. not meaning it is right or wrong.. not everything that is posted has to be that way...I am sure you have posted comments that would disagree with someone .. but it seems that what i said was taken in a very personal context.. not intended i assure you... I make no excuses for what I said I am not targeting what you said or in the context that it was used V ... it is very simple actually ... I don't (but maybe you do) consider celebrities to have "created" panerai... reality is what each person may concieve it to be.. My post was directed at another member.. i choose to do this .. instead of PM.. I did not think i had anything to hide or was skating around anything.. simply that i found those books would be interesting.. more so the legendary volume ... it was just that no more no less maybe taking a look at "death by character assasination" would do everyone a bit of good..

about a year ago I thought 180 usd shipped was a "not bad' price..... Ha.. ha... only 1 year.. the deep blue of the dial and contrast gold (plate) got to me..
-
Thanks for the Post Stephane.. Ordered 2 more gator straps from Kurt... great choice for the IWC Pilots ... waiting for the 3717 to come back from my collector .. swaping the dial out.. I don't think I'll make Chieftangs AR run though.. next time the Watchboys brown gator for the pilot is being auctioned in the GD area and K222 donated a AR coating.. plus I am throwing in a bonus strap for the winner.. check it out .. this is my 3717-2 Spitfire .... this will be complimented with a Watchboys honey brown gator...but the ss for now

Thanks lanikai for the OP link. As you look so fond of OP history, may I point you to the book "Panerai Historia" by Giampiero Negretti? Maybe there is some English translation out there. Yes.. sssurfer ... sometime ago I missed out on his first book "Legendary Watches" .. this supposedly has more of the antique vintage and Historic models... it was on the bay for 40 usd and before I could come back to it.. gone.. so i have it on order from a friend that works at a Bookstore . the Second of his books "Panerai Historia" .. "From the depths of the Sea" ... is supposedly of the newer Models... and yes it is In English as well as German..it is actually published by OP.. I just like Nostalgia ... and your country as the rest of Europe has tons of historical facts and origins in time pieces.. so that is "my" interest in "History" .. yes, celebraties brought Panerai into the general publics view... but Panerai made Panerai.... "history" that is "my" opinion and I don't mean to offend anyone elses opinion ... because that is their right I can spend hours in the archives with the original Historical documents of old Hawaii... just to see the Queen Liliuokalani' signature ... or father Damien' .. something about 100 year old documents that turned the tide of history intrigues me ... hence the Historical pictures of the original Panerai timepieces .. captivates me.. but to each his own..
