  1. Hope there's good lighting Stephane ...a thunder storm is heading in tonight.. it's 11:10 pm and after 12 am we expect some heavy rains.. hope I got enough natural lighting tomorow.. see you all tomorrow.. AC L
  2. yes .. I have looked at different pics of the genuine 202a and have seen the genuine in person also.. else I wouldn't of made the comments in my pictorials of the PVD version. for the sake of discussion view the genuine PVD.. this is the buckle, it was in the direct.. rather strong flash.. and it absorbs the light and "flattens" in color and texture, the pic has been enlarged, and a little blurred, but see the flatness of the PVD.. something that the DLC cannot perform in this type of lighting. the same effect on my 202A pvd coating.. this is very very strong natural lighting.. streaming through the window.. and the PVD flattens out instead of contributing to more sheen and glare another angle, some of the pvd looks grey but still rather flat.. and the portions in the most light again flattens maybe take a pic in strong lighting streaming through a window , and outside in the sunlight and see how the DLC fairs.. the pic of the genuine in the thread is outdoors.. I think you need the same lighting with pvd and DLC to compare ..else you may get the same look with totally different lighting.. but side by side in the exact lighting I think DLC and PVD react differently.. ergo the genuine effect is lost with DLC.. although an amazing coating, not the same effect.. AC/L
  3. It's a different look though.. DLC.. hard for me to see that it looks like PVD, in pics or in person it still looks like a enameled grey.. in person PVD and DLC look very very different.. DLC has a grey sheen to it, a "hardened" looking surface, non porous, like comparing flat black paint to enamel.. put it in indirect strong natural lighting and it shines a bit much (in pics) as well as in person.. .. unlike PVD which "absorbs" light, and appears more porous, and the PVD will appear to turn to a different shade as it absorbs the light waves... I like the DLC look but no matter how you play it .. it still has a totally different look from PVD... harder finish .. not only in physical looks but in practical purpose .. DLC is a harder coating ergo the look reflects the element of the coating .. more sheen .. I would suggest a PVD coat over the DLC.. if you want it to look like the real deal..a DLC coat may look good but no matter what you do it still looks like DLC.. AC L
  4. thanks cool.... the ceramic like insert' engraving does look deeper.. I have to pull out my last version though, to compare it... the back Ti is darker than others I've had.. I'll see if I can get it in the most realistic lighting.. AC/L
  5. Before I do the complete review of the Newest version of the DSSD.... I'll post a preview with these lume shots.. since I took them in Hawaii's twilight, and I'll be shooting the rest of the pics tomorrow.. this version is from Joshua and Perfect Clones. Have a look at the blue lume.. the lume on this version does not start out green and cool to blue.. it is blue from the initial charge.. exposure was under .25 second.. the first shot of the dial was done in lesser lighting.. the close ups were taken in added natural lighting. full pictorial review coming up next. AC/Lani
  6. I think if your going for the genuine OEM look PVD is the way to go.. if you don't mind the greyish shinnier look with DLC..it is a nice look, PVD and DLC is like oranges and pineapples .. viewing the genuine PVD.. it does look quite different from any DLC coating.. it's going to be interesting to see what the PVD looks with a year or so of good wear.. the OEM crown I have on my 202A is faded just from age.. so I hope the PVD will do the same.. that would be a real vintage look looks good though regardless of the coating.. AC L
  7. this one was gifted to me.. I'm working on some cases .. sample should arrive in a week or two.. in time for Ziggy's January run.. I'll let you know by pm mil,..... hopefully all you would need would be a DSN case back.. and a FGD dial.. the eta's are available through Ofrei or other internet vendors.. the crystal can be ordered from DSN also.. Sorry I took so long to get back to you.. been going nutz this week.. AC/L
  8. double post...
  9. sorry I took so long armin.. from the outline .. it does look very good.. the bezel appears to be without the bevel on top.. go for it if you already haven't.. I just cannibalized an old DSN pvd case set for the higher profile crystal.. stripped the AR and now, it's in my 202A.. ....and now it is perfect.. AC L
  10. I like the box second hand .. but the beveled CG on the newer model is way cool.. AC/L
  11. Thank you Gio !! Have a safe an Joyful Holiday Season ALL.. AC/L

  13. Thank you BT!! this was one was the much heralded XXL over a year ago maybe 2... I have never seen it with a bracelet .. the genuine pics I've seen have the rubber tire tread straps.. it would awesome on a nice ss bracelet like the ebel variety me thinks.. I like the way the sub dials change shades from silver to grey depending on the lighting AC/L

that is what it appears to be Andy.. although this one was not "heralded" so I'm wondering if the makers will bother with another "V" .. dunno if it has the world wide popularity that we hold for it. sent for a 3717 crown a couple of days ago.. but I don't know if it will fit the tube is made as one with this case set.. we'll see. there are multiple flaws.. the gen bezel is beveled, the rep is not.. not much attention to detail on this one.. but that is the nature of reps.. L
  17. Those 9411 Tudor hands look surprisingly good... I was just sitting looking at the dial today and "mustard" is the exact word that came to mind...I will need a servicing soon .. the rotor is sticky although there is more than enough oil in the movement.. needs a full servicing by ZM.. is that a modern bracelet you have on there ?? it looks good,.. maybe I can ping doxa and see if they will sell a bracelet with proof of my Doxa's it would be more comfortable and look better than the rubber strap I have on there now.. thanks for posting your beauties Arthur !!! AC R
  18. it is totally sad to surf in sewage debri.. I have seen the flora in the ocean change.. plus long line commercial fishing boats altering the food chain, more and more shark attacks in the last 25 years..all for commercial profit.. local fishermen cannot make a living anymore. Man's inhumanity to Man .. another species self destructing.. "Malama the Aina" ... "Take care of the Land".. the "Life of the land is so precious" .. else, what can we leave for future generations ??? more than just electronic games I hope..

  20. From the Artic to the Pacific reef coral.. effects are being felt .. I notice the coral or lack of new growth since I was a kid.. the oceans are slowly dying... R

  22. I have 2 out of 5 of these Daytona's still working.. they are ticking time bombs ... these are truly "luck" of the draw.. with the good luck being slim to none. that's just thought's on this particular modded movement.. good lesson to take from this is get to the reviews of the movements before deciding on another purchase. these seconds @6 movements are really non serviceable...so buyer beware of these.. it was outlined in full in past movement reviews.. hope you find a way to settle your issues.. AC/L
  23. Just some fast pics of my Chopard GTXXL relumed, Movt. service and on a HK Hornback, after so long, I finally got around to getting the mod done.. thanks for viewing AC/Lani
  24. Arthur that is one good looking and functional "tool" timepiece.. very direct in it's design! Quite different form the normal divers..that mesh bracelet is absolutely gorgeous.. that must play a big role in the balance of the watch.. Live Strong and Wear it Well!! AC/L
