  1. Some of my favourites: HKTAN distressed brown 22mm leather strap (squeezes in 21mm lug width) Other RWG member's 3717 on Timefactors' nato: My Globalwatchband black 20mm gator Also check out kevlar straps with or w/o white stitching, I know some RWG members have them and they look great Would be something like this: Good luck with your choice
  2. Thanks Phoband for enthusiastically sharing my HKTAN strap pics with the members!! I must say I do like the fresh white stitching of the other strap shown. It is more crisp than the golden stitching of my HKTAN. Don't get me wrong, that old-school pilot look is OK for the IWC 3717! But... visiting a Breitling gen forum frequently, I think members are right that gen Breitling owners generally only wear Breitling style straps. I might consider a 22-20mm non-riveted distressed brown leather HKTAN with white stitching that could take a Breitling buckle. The thick >= 5mm brown straps really match the grey dialed ones! Good luck with yours!!
  3. Can anybody with an ongoing 1655 project please advise on the cases he/she uses?
  4. The pictures I see for Andrew's (ETA/Asian) 1655 today show a different bezel font (sans serif?) than most pics shown here before. Can anybody please comment on that?!
  5. I think you are right. But the text and the pics mention 'black' dial. Could it be the lighting?
  6. WAW, look no glass on yours and perfectly aligned hands!!! I want that graphite treatment. Did you do it yourself or a watchsmith?
  7. Yes I must admit that it has a tinted look, that especially shows in outside light conditions. See a comparison of my K2222 AR treated SMP Bond versus the rep AR 3717. Pictures shot in a lighttent that was placed outside in daylight conditions.
  8. Black strap is looking sharp and dressy!! (...unmodded 7750 and still running on 6 for 2 years on over here!!!) AR would make me look at it all day... Nicest dressiest (gen IWC?) leather strap I ever saw a Porto on had a reddish chestnut colour (and not the dark honey you see so soften). Still hope to find one that will do justice to that image...
  9. OK. I would really like to see it on a blue gator or (moo)croc though. I got a black gator (from globalwatchband) and that improved the look of the Porto immediately. Still need an IWC (rep) deployant for that strap, so good news that the 7 days rep one is OK!
  10. Just this weekend a watchmaker pointed me out an IWC Portuguese 7 days in SS with blue hands, numerals and matching croc. AAAHHHHH, I WANT THIS ONE. (It will probably make me sell my other Porto once I get my hands on a decent rep...) Well, let me show you what I mean by showing some gen eyecandy I found on watchprosite and compare them to some pics from Angus. Gen: Rep: Gen vs Rep: Comments I found by RWG members on the rep: SCOOBS1971: "For the money it's quiet nice, but it has a lot of small flaws. Wrong date font and it looks recessed. On the black version the DW should be black. On the white dial versions the silver subdials are wrong and should be in the same color as the dial. Also spacing is a bit off. The shape of the 2, 4 and 7 are off." GEO1NAH2A: "The crown reads "SCAFUIA" With such an open back (read: so distant from the gen), I wish they had made a better effort on the dial/crown. Markers are too big, the date placement is so obviously wrong, and the dials seem low quality. I really wish they made a better effort... " Some other coloured straps will do nicely too!!! Tobacco: Dark honey: (personaly I like that little Volvo touch...) Well, I will have to wait a little I guess...
  11. I would like this darker colour with fresh white stitching!! Now where to get a gen strap w/o difficult questions on serial number or having to show the watch to an AD...
  12. HKTAN also has this 'distressed weathered' brown leather strap. But maybe this look is too vintage for the Skyland
  13. OK, so the light brown rep strap does not have the colour of choice for most of us. And we do want it to look more like in this artistic pic: But, what would be close in colour and style? Here are some suggestions. Please give your reaction or better your best suggestions!! HIRSCH LIBERTY (And without the white end stitching but in different colours) HIRSCH 'HEAVY CALF' RIOS 'JUCHTEN'
  14. One tip on 2.) also try landscape setting (mountain) or DEP setting on your camera. That way most all details (depth) will be sharp and not only the center or focussed area. And of course always a tripod and time controlled shutter i.s.o. your shaky finger ENJOY!
  15. Thanks, can't wait to see your photographic skills unleashed on this beauty...
  16. Totally agree on this. I fell for exactly the same pic shown earlier in this thread with what looked like a dark brown strap. There was a strap made (even in 22mm) by Hirsch that would be perfect: The Livingstone. But they stopped making it. There are some left, but they are hard to find...
  17. Pugwash must be up there as well, still a picture taking example to all of us...
  18. Yep, the light brown rep strap will disappear in my drawer next to the brand new rep strap of the Superocean... (any buyers? ;-) It is on the (5-7mm) thick HKTAN now. Tough watch on tough strap right! The colour is a bit darker grey/brown than my pics show. I found dark grey to be a nice combo with dark brown and the grey-ish black of rubber straps. Black combo's will do fine I a sure!
  19. I have read the topic of this pic. It is actually a black dial, but the other details are indeed stunning alike! (the gen owner claims the rubber strap is an Omega PO strap ?!)
  20. Yeah, the dealers should sent me some models (for free) to make their orders come in, heh, heh. (But then, the quality must be OK as well, or the board members will bury the thing! ) ...please start with a HBB platinum...
  21. Yesterday I presented the shiny new Skyland on it's original bling bracelet. Today, after painstakingly removing the push pins, I put it on some other straps: - On the leather Breitling strap from Angus - On my black rubber Breitling strap from fleeBay - On my HKTAN distressed leather strap Spare shot from yesterday: And some wristhots: And finally the lume shots of the Superocean Steelfish(left) and the Skyland (right): 1st: directly after 'lights-out' 2nd: one minute later: Thanks again for watching!!
  22. Eagle eyes! But yep, '5', '7' and '10' were also done by 'shaky hands' ...
  23. Last year summer I bought a nice ceramic coated J12 ladies from Trusty. It was instantaneous success!! My wife never took it off for another watch since then... The watch goes with a lot of occasions and clothing! But having two small childeren the wear started to show. The ceramic coating came off at corners and other sensitive areas. Also the size: 28mm seemed not in line with the gen ladies version of 33mm. So I started a search for a nice full ceramic version. Again Andrew had the winning ticket. So yesterday it showed up (funny enough together with my new Skyland from Angus!) One day later the giftbox and (rep) papers were delivered. The full ceramic is much nicer, soft shiny and makes the first one look painted. The bezel is centered better than the one of last year, but feels more loosly attached to the case. Also the size is nicer and gives more presence to the watch. Printing on the back is different. Older version seems more 'gen', but I have not yet seen pics of a gen's caseback. I would certainly recommend this model if you are looking for a nice ladies model rep
