Big scare with my GMT II Ceramic Swiss CHS........
Justasgood replied to Justasgood's topic in The Rolex Area
sorry, so. I turn the crown and the hands track as they should. Sudden relief washes over me. Perphaps the fall knocked the hands and they were impeding the sweep of the seconds hand......but no. Still, no heartbeat to be found. I shake it (CPR for a watch)..........wait..........listen...........nothing. Anger once again coarses through me. Think man think...........the gearing seems o.k.......big win there.......the hands aren't jammed.......good........perhaps the impact broke the balance staff......I've got spare movements........that's it.....a heart transplant........dammit......hold on a sec' -

Big scare with my GMT II Ceramic Swiss CHS........
Justasgood replied to Justasgood's topic in The Rolex Area
sorry, where was I.........oh yeah, so I am relieved to see the watch in one piece.......then I notice it.......the time of death....the hands are now as quiet as the room.........no beat......dead! Now I am really [censored]. Angry at myself for dropping it.....angry at the watch for stopping and angry at the floor for not opening up and swallowing me. Thoughts now race........talk of problems with the CHS watches play over and over in my head. Was I a fool for having plopped down my $$ for a watch that had no chance......certainly it needed no help from me. Now what........I unscrew the crown and I am certain that the gearing......so fragile when new.....has to be screwed up......I pull out the crown and to my surprise, shoot, be right back...... -
God love ya man, I am pleased to see your posts again. Get strong, be smart and know that this family will lift you always. You continue to be in my prayers. Kurt

So, I am not a "Bling" kinda guy so when my Swiss GMT II Ceramic with CHS showed up.......I loved it then quickly cooled to it. I mean....sure, it's got a great wrist presence.....but something didn't seem right. The polished center links..... Enter, the mad modder......After 20 minutes with my secret tools....viola! no more bling I must say, to me it made a world of difference. I loved the New/Classic look......then, my world came crashing down.........or to be specific, the watch jumped out of my hands as if to protest it's new look.......a 5' drop that seemed to last for an eternity as my feeble attempts to catch it mid air failed.....down down down down down to my ceramic floor.....the most gut wrenching sound met my ears.....and then......silence, save for my pounding heart and the droplets of sweat falling from my brow. Did that just happen......did I really just drop my newly acquired freshly modded GMT? It did. Thinking that if I don't pick it up and look at it......it won't have suffered......kinda like cutting yourself and when you look, it is a fresh cut ....no blood....and then a torrent of life juice begins to flow. I stood there......scared, angry......and then, I pick it up........I was certain the crytal had shattered.....but no......much worse. Oh, hang on......

It is the center bushing that the screw holds to the movement plate. The bushing is press fit into the rotor. I have a spare rotor.....send me your address, Kurt.

PM sent to resolve this issue. -
Great job Ubi....big surprise there. One question/concern not addressed is when to set the date or better, when NOT to set the date. Don't manually adjust the date between 6:00 p.m. and midnight. Just my .02 Enjoy your new watch and wear it in good health.

No apologies......I think even unintentionally, it's very funny. Made me laugh out loud actually.

Very funny Vdog......I guess that is a shot at the fact that I didn't get my 3717 in trade.......good one

Chris, thanks for reaching out in regards to this matter. I knew you would be in Montreal and I understand the lag in communication. I appreciate your offer but first thigs first: Please confirm that the Sub made it to your place safe and in good working order(I believe you mentioned your wife could take delivery) If it has, then I will give you my paypal info and you can cover the ask price of $175.00 plus PP fee. While I appreciate the value of the 3717 ($240) you offered, I would rather understand how you offered it in trade to me, then sold it for $240 to JohnDorian. Thanks, Kurt. -
I mentioned that when you first got this watch that it was mine originally. I modded it and installed the Gen insert. You have to center it in position, work around the edges with your thumb and when it is all in except the final edge, you need to roll that along a wooden desktop or something similar that won't scratch it and it will seat in place. If you want to ship it to me, I would be glad to install it for you.
-
Now is the perfect time to install your insert. Shouldn't be an issue just be careful to not get any epoxy/glue under the bezel. If it is a Gen insert, you will need to do a little shaving on the backside(so it sits recessed) and around the edge so it seats within the bezel.......Good luck.

You know, a simple "my bad" or, "I got things mixed up" or "It was the Vodka" would have gone a long way with me. If you know me, I am about as easy to get along with as they come. But to log on this morning, and having no less than 3 PM's from regarding this situation and not responding.......well that really begins to bother me. Stay tuned as I have no idea how this will all turn out. BTW, I had at least 2 or 3 people that wanted to buy the Sub.........I am sure they are disappointed as well to hear that it was stolen. -

Let me re-state, ths has nothing to do with John. At the least, perhaps paneraifreak can paypal me the $240 he got when he sold my watch to JD :-) -

I figured that and then you mentioned it in your Dial post.....again, no fault of your's and congrats on a great watch. I am trying to figure out what paneraifreak was thinking and why send me a bogus tracking #. Well, I hope he enjoys the Sub I sent him -

Thanks for the offer.....but I am confused as to what I should do. Paneraifreak offered me his 3717 in trade for my Rolex Two-Tone sub. He sent me the above tracking # and I sent him my watch. Now, it seems that another member bought the same watch offered to me and is now seeking dial recommendations(no fault of his in this odd scheme). I am just curious about what was sent (via the tracking # given to me) to the person in St. Louis, MO. I guess I am out 1 nice sub for being a trusting member.......I guess there is always a first time for everything...........this is the first time I have been scammed. Lucky for all, it won't change who I am or how I treat people. Thanks again for your offer, Kurt. -
Nice work BK....I must say, to have my Franken (see 2nd pic) used as a Gen reference makes me feel I did an o.k. job on mine as well See mine here: http://www.rwg.cc/members/index.php?showto...5823&hl=NDT
