  1. Yeah, I've looked into that as well as e-snipe. Both look pretty good to me!
  2. Man those "cave dwellers" must have planned on being in those caves for days to need that sort of function!!
  3. I'm confused. I don't know that much about Rolex movements at all, but the auction says 1575 movement and yet the picture clearly shows a 1570 movement? Was this a common thing? Is the 1570 just "turned" into a 1575?
  4. I can't believe I just missed this!!! I tried to bid on it, thought I was signed in, but next thing you know, it was over! Did someone here get this one? Damn good price of $849.99!!!!
  5. Looking good V!!! Glad it arrived safe and sound!
  6. Freddy do you know if there was ever a 6542 case made for an ETA movement? As for the white dial thing, I agree, but I am not sure I really care too much about that. However, the cost of the dial may prohibit me from going forward with it It may have to be a traditional black dialed one.
  7. Thanks Andy! I really appreciate that! It's going to be a very long process I think to build this one, but in the end, I am certain it will be worth it.
  8. Wow! That is a huge difference!!! Looks quite spectacular and really finishes off an already exceptional franken! The Gen Strap w/Deployant look great too!
  9. Happy Birthday F!! Hope you have a great day and as always, keep up the great signatures!
  10. This is my concern as well, but I am hoping there is some way to make it work
  11. Yes, apparently the execs were jealous of the pilots and kept taking the GMT's for themselves as they were delivered from Rolex. Juan Trippe, the head of Pan Am noticed one of the watches on the wrist of one of the execs and when asked, the exec exclaimed that they felt shunned. They were just as responsible for the companies successes however they felt as though they were being treated as second class citizens. Trippe was not pleased and ordered all the execs to return the watches so they could be properly distributed to the pilots. However, in order to calm the distraught execs down, Trippe had Rolex make a limited set of watches with white dials. Apparently Rolex was quite thrilled to do so as they had a few number of cases left of the 6542's but had already moved on to the 1675. This enabled them to finally get rid of the last few remaining 6542 cases.
  12. Thanks for the info Nanuq!!! We'll see where it goes!
  13. I was considering it!!! It would be the icing on the cake for sure!!! Also found this dial on the bay, but it's not the albino one. Much cheaper option though
  14. Nice combo LHOOQ! Love the mesh!
  15. Still sitting at a pretty reasonable price. Nanuq, what do you think one of these is worth? I'd hate to bid too much for it, but I don't want to let it go for a steal either
  16. Yup. There is a complete 6542 with Albino dial for sale, or just this dial. Not sure about the movement mod paolo - no expert when it comes to rolex movements! I'm sure someone has a thought about it though. I would still like to know if the 2893-2 will work for this or not.
  17. Still waiting on the details. All I have right now is the pic.....
  18. Hi folks, So after doing a little research and poking around, I think I would like to take on the task of building a franken 6542 GMT Master Pan AM. Here's a pic: I was really intrigued by this watch, and thought to myself there was no way I was going to find the parts for this. I am thinking of using the ETA 2893-2 engine that I bought from FxrAndy as it would be the correct hand stack and a nice reliable movement. Of course, I am not sure if it will fit into any of the available case sets for a 6542. Surprisingly, I happened to find a dial, and wanted some experts opinions on it. Please let me know what you think of this dial:
  19. Still wearing the Vintage Tudor 9411
  20. That is one stunning pair you've got there Jojo!!! Congrats!
  21. How about this 6542? Nice creamy Pan-Am Dial? Very unique and very different!
  22. Paul keep us posted on the progress!
  23. Beautiful looking watch! I am really liking these more and more!!! That caseback is very cool looking. Where did you source that one?
  24. Yes, it is definitely an art! Of course, having good tools helps. I really like jmb's hand setting tools for installing the hands, but I think it's time to bite the bullet and buy a real Bergeon Presto hand remover. I have a "Swiss" Presto hand remover which is what buggered up the hands in the first place. I am surprised I didn't scratch up the dial!
