  1. Stilty, what are the dial seat lengths for an H5?
  2. Oh good to know Andy! That's making it even easier to make the decision then!!!
  3. Well that's as good of a reason as any MG! Turns out Yuki has discontinued the availability of the 6542 cases so off to find another source I guess. I would really love a bakelite bezel GMT!!! They have such a character to them and the pics of Freddy's are amazing!
  4. Interesting looking Doxa (at least it looks like a Doxa - Nanuq?) Can be found here
  5. Hmmmm....just saw BK's post in your Explorer thread about only being able to get the asian movement Explorer II's. Maybe that would be a good base watch for an ETA 2893-2 upgrade
  6. Of course, as soon as I finished typing that, BT goes and puts up an absolutely stunning photo of the Black Dial Explorer II! Dammit! Hmmm....decisions desicions. Of course, the Noob Explorer is going to be a rare beast soon, isn't it?
  7. I thought about an Explorer II as well, but I think I like the GMT's a little more. Of course, a 1655 would be awesome, but a little tougher to pull off I think without spending some serious coin.
  8. Hi folks, So I have acquired on of Andy's 2893-2 movements and now I am contemplating which GMT watch I want to build. Definitely want to build a Rolex, but I can't decide on which model to do. I would really love a 1675 but there don't seem to be too many options out there to build a good franken of the 1675. I saw concepta's awesome franken GMT IIc that was for sale, and I really like that one, but I am afraid it might be a touch bit too dressy for day to day wear. My favorite is the 6542 with the bakelite pepsi bezel and Yuki has a really nice case set for sale. Of course, the other option would just be a standard GMT Master II with pepsi dial. I guess one great option would be to go with the BK Transformer and ship him the movement. Just wondering if the modders out there had any thoughts or suggestions for me?
  9. What's weird is that I have ordered several times from that site and I have always received my items within a week! Very odd that they would let something like this slip through the cracks
  10. Just got an email from the company asking me if I still have not received my books. So, finally some sort of response from them.
  11. Hi folks, I have given my SMP Bond Watch to my "soon-to-be" father in-law. It is a quite nice rep that I've had for a while now. Some time ago, I needed the 2824 movement so I removed it and then replaced it a few months later. In removing the hands, I kind of messed them up a bit. In trying to straighten and clean them up, I just messed them up more. I must say I am getting much better at removing and re-installing hands, but after many a trial and error, I would really like to put new hands on this watch before my father in-law goes back to Peru. Anyone know where I can source hands for this one? They would be for an ETA 2824-2 movement. Thanks!

  13. Awesome pic!!! Yes, not guessing at exposure sure is handy! Just got a WhiBal card and Nikon Capture NX2 editing software so guessing at the White Balance will also be a thing of the past! NX2 is an insane program! So far really loving it!
  14. I stand corrected. Philosopher is correct. A manual lens WILL stay at its set aperture when reversed. The BR-4 and BR-6 are handy though as they keep the lens fully opened to make it easier to focus, and then you can stop it down to the set aperture.
  15. My two also have not yet arrived and still zero response to my repeated email PM's to the company.
  16. With regards to the aperture, unfortunately that won't work. The aperture ring is closed by a small little lever by the camera itself. Once the lens is removed, it closes right down to the smallest setting. A manual lens is difficult as well. Without the lens being mounted to the camera body, the lens stays fully stopped down. You can hold the lever on a manual lens to the preset f-stop though, or, again, Nikon makes an adapter ring that has a stop down lever. You set the aperture, move the lever to fully open the lens so you can focus and meter, and then when you are ready to take the picture, you move the lever and it stops down the lens to the preset setting. Not sure, but Canon must make something similar to this. The Nikon adapters are the BR-4 or BR-6. Pics are in the beginning of the thread
  17. Very nice!!! For the exposed rear elements, I don't know about Canon, but Nikon makes an adapter that you mount to the back of the lens that allows you to mount a 52mm Filter to it so you can keep it dust free. Nice find for $5!
  18. First rep was an Omega De Ville Co-Axial. I loved it! I was so enthralled by it and amazed at the quality for a $60.00 watch. That lasted for about 5 hours when I finally got home and, like most of us here, went online in search of pics of the gen. That's when the tears started flowing. I was so sad that it wasn't even close That was last February. It wasn't until May that I finally found a home here at RWG. Here's a quick pic of the De Vile (no that's not a typo) I must admit - it looks good in a photo though! Definitely one of my favorite pictures I have taken in a while!
  19. Sweet pictorial J! Like Ubi I am always fascinated and intrigued by the "behind-the-scenes" work done in this hobby!
  20. Andy that is one very sexy pair you've got there!!! Really fantastic job! The crystal looks amazing on the 1680. Very nice and clear! Nice quality for the Cousins Crystal!
  21. For those interested, Wormhole Remote is definitely for real. Just installed it, but no iPad to play with. However, I did find a good review about it here
  22. One of my favorites for sure Ubi! Congrats on a great find! Is this one from J&W?
  23. +1 ..... more pics!!!
  24. I have access to one at work. If you want to send me a file I can try and print one for you. Just let me know what sort of transfer paper I need to purchase.
