Wow isnt that something ... I hope it passes the test of time and is reliable.
It reminds me .. about 2 weeks ago (I forget where) I saw a "Rolex Clone" movement with a red gear screwed directly to the balance cock. I almost fell out of my chair laughing.
In the two and a half years I've been on the forum, I've never seen Ubi do anything but be helpful and generous to a fault. My hat's off to him and people like him in the community.
The PT vintage series 1680 is always left-justified. The date window in the dial is way too small on that watch. It needs to be opened up to the bottom and to the left. Also, it is set up to ETA specs so the Clark crystal is always going to be too far right with the cyclops.
The only option you have that I'm aware of is to replace the PT dial and the datewheel. I have not done this myself but perhaps an ingod44 dial and JMB's datewheel will fix this LONG LIVED PT 1680 datewheel/window fiasco.
Be careful you dont spend too much modding the ones you don't love. You always will lose money on a modded watch when you re-sell it.
the modders here generally do a good job with lume, but Zigmeister does ... this ...
Ziggy can mix custom lume colors for daytime appearance and nighttime appearance. I believe I've seen black lume from him in the past. It doesnt have to be white.
They make pads and pinpoint pens for refinishing titanium BUT ... isnt the surface of the C-passion bead blasted and NOT brushed??
I'm pretty sure you'd have to bead blast it again to fix that. Brushing would make it look worse.
That is so unusual ... I cant explain it. I can go to the pages I've linked, and looking at the webstore, I'm certainly not logged in.
I'd go to the RWI sales thread and ask the store owner what the deal is, if you are truly interested.
If you look at the picture .... you will see that the sticker is not cut to the proper shape and hangs over the edge of the rotor. it's not an engraved rotor.
Compare it to the gen 1680 dial for sale right now on this forum .. the gen not only has a beveled date window, it has a pyramid step in it as well. I dont think Ive seen any rep 1680 dials with the step reproduced.
This does happen .. it's only double-sided tape in there. When I used Cape Cod cloth on my DSSD, it dissolved the tape.
Many people swear by Gorilla Glue, just be careful to not use too much and to clamp it down until it's dry. Gorilla Glue expands as it sets and will not look good at all if you dont clamp it firmly. If you use too much it will expand out of the seams and be visible.
You could go directly to a dealer and ask to buy this part. Many times they will sell spares. Watch International is well known for agreeing to sell parts.
The best thing to learn is that the trusted dealers on this forum (and others) have been doing business with members for years and have a proven track record of honesty and service.
You can buy from any Internet place you want to, but ... 85% chance you will be screwed over.
You know that Incabloc brand springs come in various flavors and ETA uses them interchangeably ... there's the plain Incabloc "classic" and the Incabloc "Novodiac" style ... when you get a gen movement, it could have either style.
BK has access to the latest (v6-7?) Noobfactory inserts ... I believe. I bought one second-hand from a member here. It's a great looking insert with a good little pearl dome.
Shoot him (BKLM1234) a PM and ask.
