It doesn't tug on my arm hairs. The rep did, but not the gen. Not sure why. Maybe it has something to do with stretch. This one doesn't have much at all...
"temerity - excessive confidence or boldness; audacity" - They use big words up there in AK! Wow! Not only do I learn about watches here - my vocabulary also gets a boost!
Yes I am, kinda. Because of the height of the crystal and the "pressers" (the little plastic pieces that go in the press), I am using the presser by hand - putting it on the retaining ring and using my hand and body weight to press the ring flush...works pretty well...
Cool - I've sanded the retaining ring down to 30.25. We'll see if it cracks this time. Good thing Clarks 1680 crystals are so cheap! I just received an order of 6, so I'll have a lot of testing options
I just logged in because I too am having some 1680 retaining ring Issues. I have a Yuki case and I keep getting horizontal cracks underneath the retaining ring. I am using Clarks crystals, which measure out at 30.30. My retaining ring mics at around 30.20. Is that too much compression? Anybody have genuine rolex numbers floating around on this measurement?
It's like a warm bath because your brain turns off. I've gone swimming-not the right word...I've gone drowning in a just thawed lake (~40 degrees) and my brain couldn't process it. I just kept getting "pins and needles" that would start at my finger tips on one hand and the go up my arm to my ear, across the top of my head, back down to the other fingers and then reverse and do it again. That was a weird experience.
I think I've got to visit 49th State! I just need to convince the wife that she'll have just as much fun as visiting the 50th...that probably isn't going to happen! Women!
+1. This is the way to do it. The other trick is patience. I almost jumped the gun a couple of times, but waiting until the right one comes along is the trick. I ended up buying a full Rolex 1500 for the 1570 and sold the parts I didnt need. Ended up costing me less for the 1570 using this method then finding a loose 1570. But as always YMMV.
I think 97-98 is Z and 9 is toward the end of the production run, so I'd say late 97 to mid 98 as they switched to W sometime during 98 I believe, but this thing has like 0 stretch! I was a little nervous picking it up as he said it has some stretch, but it is really minimal!
