  1. And without giving too much away... The answer would be 'yes'
  2. As in, a Pre-V style strap (with sewn in buckle) or a genuine Pre-V strap? The latter is going to be near impossible at sane price points. But for Pre-V style, there's some options out there... Dirk Deluxe with old PVD logo buckle. Some MP strap of sorts. I'd also check with Frogman for some nice Pre-V style straps...
  3. I pondered the idea of going with a gen heritage, but the lack of Tudor dealers in the U.S. made up my mind for me
  4. Thanks gang. Not much to share on this one; it's an ND build, v7734 and so on. Fantastic watch that wears quite nicely; the thick, big block style case is what really does it for me on this one. I'm finding myself getting lost in the day whilst admiring the lugs and CGs! The dial as fitted is a nice little upgrade; a bit different from Yuki's, as there are subtle differences that I prefer on mine (most notably the fonts, the date window and the shape of the subdial register blocks); this one has the hour markers placed closer to the chapter now as well. Indeed, the crystal on this is incorrect; it's a domed, no date crystal of some sort. Almost has a T39 type profile to it, but it's pretty big in terms of diameter; way too large to be a T39. Definitely a keeper for me. Ronin- I'll bring this one to our next meet so you can see it up close. Cheers! //ubi
  5. Looking great and I very much so enjoyed reading your first week spent with this one. Looking forward to seeing how the 1680 turns out as well! All the best, //ubi
  6. Just rec'd this guy last week... Since I had dismantled my 9411 Snowflake, I figured it was a good opportunity to displace one Tudor with another I've got a hollow Oysterlink for this one, but I actually find that I prefer it on the G10 forwhatever odd reason. I have also found the squared lugs and the thick, chunky case to be especially pleasing as well. The overall aesthetic of the watch may be a bit dated, but in my opinion, it's 70's style of inspiration have held up fairly well considering that Tudor is releasing a modern rendition of the 7031. I have a few things that I would like to change/modify/upgrade in the coming months; bezel, pushers, crystal, hands and I'm also working on commissioning a custom dial as well. All in due time, I suppose... Certainly, for now a very pleasurable piece to wear and enjoy as-is Thanks for looking! //ubi
  7. Thanks gents, for the kind mention of the Tudor. It's one that I've been after for a while and finially couldn't resist any longer. I particularly enjoy it as it's a little different from most of the other watches in my predominantly black dial collection. Have a great weekend! //ubi
  8. Nicely done! Looks great That gen dial really makes the entire package quite stunning!
  9. I would not recommend that seller... They're terrible...
  10. Kick starting the weekend wrist check a little early... Fri- Sat- Sun- Have a great weekend! //ubi
  11. Today I am reminded as to why I dislike slow set dates so much. Especially when the watch is displaying the 2nd, and it's the 1st (and I really want to wear this one today)... At least it's not a double slow DD...
  12. This is because the gen Rolex 3135 uses an axle for the rotor weight as opposed to the ETA's ball bearing rotor...
  13. True, but I just think we could extend a little more courtesy and respect to three long term dealers that have been with us through thick and thin. 'Cartel' isn't exactly a flattering term, unless one were going out of their way to be notorious...
  14. Besides, reps and the sort are more interesting. It's fun to have a 5 page long thread discussing the details and dissecting the subject in question. I enjoy building and posting my franken projects, complete with build pics and the sort, and discussing the process in which they were constructed. I very much so enjoy reading on the projects that others share on the forum as well. I would be bored to tears with posts of gen watches with 5 pages of nothing but 'oooh, looks nice! congrats' posts, simply because there's nothing technical or interesting in those types of threds. Just a lot of back patting and high fives. Internet brofist applicable as well. I guess that's why I don't visit the gen forums much anymore (vintage forums being the exception, because there is a lot technical and interesting content contained in those forums)... But my comment is more to do with modern gens... When you have purchased perfection out of the box, there's nothing more to do except wear it. Bob's, Steve's and George's brand new gen Breitling B0s are all the same. Not much to really talk about...

    wm9

WM9 is my first pref... I no longer have it, but if I were inclined to build another, that would be my preferred first choice to start with, no doubt. Needs some mods (the above was modded with gen parts), but once finished, it's a hard one to beat...
  16. 2824 or 2892 should work; those datewheels are flat, whereas the 2836 is slightly raised. The 2836 wheel will still work with the 2824/2892/2893, though you may potentially run into datewheel clearance issues under the dial, dial feet problems (if you raise/space the dial to clear the datewheel, you might not have enough of the dial foot/peg to secure with the clamp), and also pinion height issues. 2824 datewheel on the left; 2836 on the right: If you're stacking an overlay on top of that, then the clearance issues are even worse.
  17. Hmmmm... Maybe 'cartel' isn't the right term for them anymore. As good dealers who have been with us for several years, I think perhaps we should move away from that label.
  18. I can assure you that this was not by his own choosing
  19. OMG.... I'm dyin' over here! Tears... I've not laughed this hard in a long while...
