  1. Original, yes. Dates... I will need to go through my log book and see if I noted the serials. One was purchased on behalf of a friend for whom I helped him purchase.
  2. I have personally seen both in more than one occassion.
  3. Well, the external dimension is of little consequence; a crown from a 1601 would also be 6mm in diameter. However, it's the inside diameter where the crown mates with the tube that will differ. If you have an X serial 162xx for example, I highly doubt it will fit a rep tube...
  4. May I also humbly suggest watching the sales corner here for a pre-owned example of a 5002? Seems that they come up from time to time, and you also have the benefit of a prior owner having examined and lived with the watch (thus helping to mitigate any QC problems). While this is absolutely no guarantee on quality, it does help reduce the risk of issues or problems that can sometimes occur with new watches shipped from the factory. Also, as with anything pre-owned, you'll not have suffered the first owner depreciation rate as well
  5. P- I've been discussing with some folks, and supposedly, there is a plan to start reintroducing the Tudor line in the U.S. starting with the Heritage Chrono. Might be a year or so before we start seeing it come in, however... Think I may swing by the local AD to see if they've rec'd communication on any such news, and if so, possibly start working on getting my name on the list...
  6. P4GTR does. And from what I've seen, he does one heck of a job, too!
  7. NICE!! 3717 franken for me today...
  8. The PVD finish is just stunning! A beautiful work of art!
  9. Assuming you have a gen DJ, is yours a sapphire or acrylic model (e.g. is it a ref 160x, 160xx, 162xx etc)?
  10. Wow, DL! I'm not a huge FM kind of guy, but that's a pretty sweet Conq that you've got there! Super bold with the case/dial/hands contrast!
  11. Hi Catalin, The 9411 is a great project piece; a fun watch that has a lot of character and is a great departure from the usual Rolex Submariner look with it's square indicies and hands. There are a couple of different approaches one can take with the project, all depending on how and where you source your parts. The key is to be diligent in your search and to know what you're after specifically. With regards to your questions: -For a crown, I would suggest using a genuine Rolex 7mm Triplock crown and tube for this project (703-0/7030). The genuine crown and tube have the correct aesthetics, but from a function and feel standpoint, it's worth the small cost alone for these parts. -Locating a 2784 will likely require you to purchase a complete watch to use as a donor for the movement (luckily, these watches are rarely very expensive). You should also consider the 2783, which was fitted to the 9411 models as well. These can be found for as little as $25 at times. The brushed silver datewheel will be a difficult item to locate. -A good watchmaker in the EU... Maybe give Bricciola a try? -If you have a budget of $1k, you may need to get creative in the parts that you purchase. If your goal is to use genuine parts such as dial, hands insert, crystal, etc. the dial alone is going to put you pretty close to the $1k mark. The hands will run $250 minimum for a fair - poor condition trit set, or for a genuine service replacement lumi set (count on $400 for a nice tritium set), and the case will also run around $600 or so from Yuki. A Cyclope 125 genuine service crystal usually runs around $130 on the typical secondary market, though in some cases, they can be found for signifiacntly less and service Lumi inserts are usually around $120 as well (vintage tritium fat font inserts can escalate in price pretty quickly, especially for the blue). A couple of alternatives that you might want to take into consideration- -Using an MBW case instead of the Yuki will give you some breathing room on project capital; a complete MBW can be puchased for half of the Yuki case. The only downside is not having the correct Tudor signed caseback (though sometimes those can be purchased a la carte for a lot less than the difference saved between the two cases). -Aftermarket dials, hands, crystals, inserts etc. will be more affordable, however the aesthetics and overall quality will not be up to genuine standards. If you are not bothered by these differences in details, this is likely your best bet for building a watch within your price threshold. -Jewelry and Watch offers a decent 9411, all complete for $900-ish. That may be a good starting basis for your project for just a little more than the Yuki case alone. This would give you a working, complete watch to start with, and you can slowly upgrade it as time and money permit. -A standard genuine 9411 doesn't cost much more than some of these projects. For best results, save up a little more and just buy gen Normally I'm all about project watches, as that is what makes the hobby fun for me. However, there comes a point where sometimes the economics of a gen watch complete just makes more sense. Hope this helps... //ubi
  12. Thanks for the kind words, gang Woke up this morning to discover that new hands will soon be in my future as well... Cheers! //ubi
  13. Pretty hardcore, Justin! You are a whiz at the lathe, no doubt!
  14. Interesting. A freeze at :24 looks almost like the vintage that was displayed with the new Heritage at Basel; crown seems to have the usual Triplock 'teeth' instead of the knurling on the new style crown, and the orange timer section is at 3:00 instead of 9:00 as on the new model... Perhaps a quick throwback to pay hommage to the original?
  15. Very clever ad spot indeed! A shame there are no U.S. Tudor ADs, though
  16. DJ crown is 6mm However, the big issue is the actual part number used. If this is going on a rep, you will most likely want a 602-0 crown; there's the 603-0 which comes on the DJ's with sapphire crystals, however the big issue here is that they use the smaller tube intended for the 5.3mm crown. Hence, the I.D. opening where the crown mates to the tube is smaller to match. The 602-0 used a larger tube specific to the 6mm crown. The rep tubes are usually around this size. In fact, I've had some gen 602's fit directly to the rep tube in some cases. Kinda hit or miss in that regard. None the less, if you have to replace the tube with gen in order for the crown to mate, the hole drilled for the tube is likely to be closer in size to the 6020 tube anyways...
  17. I'd say go for the Final Cut. Seems they corrected a lot of the editing nuances from the original, but not enough to really detract from the story.

    Au...

One thing is for certain! It is a stunner! The balance and contrast with the case and dial is a very elegant combo. You do have a knack for finding those underlines!
  19. Mrs. Ubi LOVES her J12! First she had it in 38mm (which she broke): And now she has it in a smaller 33mm size (which she still loves, but misses the 'in your face' factor about the 38mm): She's also got these trinkets, but she really only wears the J12...
  20. Hands are going to be a challenge... But I agree. Those are on the list, albeit just a further bit down on the priority schedule. Dial will be swapped as well. While this one isn't bad, I have other plans rosnik- This one started as an NDT...
