  1. Gotta love the big Brevey! And the coin edge... Very lovely...
  2. Nice one, J! I love that dial!
  3. Whatever they have to tell themselves to justify or feel better about their purchases is fine with me.
  4. I've done some fairly brief digging on the subject; if you went with a 2836 IHS movement, you should be fairly safe afterall...
  5. I know this has been done before, but it's always fun to post I know we all have certain pieces in our collections that are long term keeps; maybe even permanent. So, I'd like to ask... Which are yours, and why? Do they have a sentimental meaning behind them? Significant for a specific date, or was it incredibly near-impossible to source or build? Let's see those special pieces and the stories behind them... Cheers, //ubi
  6. Great shot of a great watch, ntb!
  7. The person below me has purchased at least one gen watch in their life...
  8. Looking forward to your safe return. All the best!
  9. Froggy, Thanks for taking the time to put the review together! Great pics and excellent write up! Thanks for sharing with us... //ubi
  10. Congrats on 1000, Jkay!! Glad to have you here with us!
  11. Thanks, guys! Well, this one has been taken back down into parts; I had a hell of a time trying to extract the tube from the case, so I'm going to send this one to jmb for the dirty work Once the tube is pulled, I'll work on the CGs, toss a gen crown/tube on and call it done. All that will be needed at that point is to drop it back off with Ronin... As for tinting the hands... I dyed them! started with the lightest of pigments that I had and did a couple of light coats until they were a little closer to the markers in color and tone. Pretty big change from stark white to their current color, despite their subtle appearance...
  12. Vintage SM300 for today...
  13. On a whim, I listed a couple of items for sale this morning; one of which was this NDT dial I had sitting in one of my parts tins. Ronin contacted me with interest, and as he is a local RWG'er, we met up this afternoon where he dropped off his watch for the dial install. We spent a few minutes talking watches and checking out each other's wrist wear for the day (Mrs. Ubi LOVES the Doxa! I have a feeling that one will be moving onto my short list now), and we then went our separate ways. After a quick lunch, I had a bit of spare time before we had to take the kids to swim class this evening, so I figured I'd just get started on this one. So far we have: -NDT dial -MBW hands tinted to match the indicies (hands look lighter in the image thanks to lighting) -Ubi aged insert -Ubi aged pearl Next on my list is to do the CGs, and a few other small modifications... So far, off to a great start! Cheers, //ubi
  14. Correct. The person below me has a 99.99% chance of having seen a grown woman naked.
  15. A datewheel from a 2783 should work fine. I have several here; if you PM me your mailing address, I'd be more than happy to send one your way...
  16. Oyster seems to be rather unanimous! Not too monochromatic?
  17. Fantastic watch, D! Very nice acquisition!
