  1. Not sure, but if the pinions are taller, a longer 4th wheel for the seconds hand would be needed to go along with it. P.S. looking at the pic, those pinions look fairly standard in height...
  2. Let me know when the datewheel arrives...
  3. Case is a tiny one; 34mm unpolished. Value for a watch complete; essentially I bought my 5500 Air King for $890, but I wanted it specifically for the Rolex movement. The case parts were left over so I just pieced together a 5500 Explorer as a residual project... 5500 and 1002s typically sell around that range, though some may sell higher depending on condition, papers, etc.
  4. My choice for the above was primarily because of the dial. Clean, uncluttered and unbranded. The fact that it was stainless steel was what cinched the deal. Lani is now the owner of that piece... Unfortunately, the tourby in any dial variation was a little too formal for me I bet most dealers should be able to get these tourbillons...
  5. White was my choice. Absolutely no doubt. White in the tourbillon always felt a little more versatile for all occassions whereas the black dial seemed more apropo for formal occassions...
  6. You can definitely use it, though the movement looks just like a standard 2783/2784 with a Tudor rotor and roulette wheel fitted. There is no perlage finish and the plates look rather crude (like a standard ETA).
  7. I've built one of those from left over parts from another project... 1002's are typically the Air King cases with 5500 correct for either Air King or Explorer Precision. My case is signed 5500 between the lugs but 1002 on the caseback (which is typical). Funny, as I'm planning on gifting mine to a friend...
  8. 1) I already sent you a datewheel, gratis at my expense. 2) A roulette wheel is not correct for a 9411.
  9. Does it come with the tachy ring fitted to the dial?

Hands need only look good in the watch. How they're delivered is of no concern as long as they're kept straight, scratch free and ready to use.
  11. What I do know: gplracer and I have assisted DW with some small details on his 7031. I've not yet seen any actual case pics, however, so I can't comment on it.

Here's a set of Snowflake lumi hands, NOS and on the cards: 16520 hands: Considering that the replacement parts are not intended for actual public distribution direct from Rolex S.A., but rather to the service centers and watchmakers, there's really no need to make the presentation of such things fancy. The cards are low cost (thus saving them money), and are likely either thrown away once the hands are used or are utilized to hold the old hands they are replacing for storage. They really just need to fulfil a primary objective, which they do albeit rather crudely.
  13. There are NOS crystals still floating about out there, but be prepared for some exorbitant pricing (anywhere from $350 - $525 depending) There are aftermarket crystals out there, but they are the domed ones without cyclops...
  14. No idea where this is even coming from. I never said anything about calling anyone out. I don't go on gen forums to post reps as gens, and I don't bother identifying or pointing out when someone chooses to do so. I only stated that it's a good idea to refrain from doing so. What you choose to do is up to you... I could care less.
  15. In society and life, it is very easy to become cynical and jaded with age and experience; it's messages like this however, that remind me that being a better person should be a way of life, and not just something one practices or makes a best attempt at doing. It absolutely puts things in perspective, and is but one example that perhaps even the smallest of kind gestures from the heart may have long, life changing effects on others. Thanks for the message, R. After having had a very long, difficult day I've had a bit of a sour attitude in general this evening. It's unfortunate for me that this message comes just as I'm about to go to bed, but tomorrow's a new day, and at least I can start with a fresh perspective...
  16. Thanks, sir. It's getting there... Slowly, but surely...
  17. A person is able to do whatever they choose, however it's instances like this that draw an especially bad light to our hobby. We know what we have and we have a forum specifically to discuss these things. There is absolutely no reason for anyone to go onto a gen forum, post a fake trying to pass it off as gen and thus draw unnecessay attention to our forums (of which those gen owners probably already hold a lot of contention for us as it is). If we leave them alone, they'll likely leave us alone. Plus, it accomplishes nothing.

If we've learned anything from RSCs, it's that nothing is consistent. Especially so when considering the differing policies of varying regions. Some do new dials while others may consider reluming old stock. Some will return old parts and some will insist that parts replacement is on an exchange basis only. Some will provide or supply parts to 3rd party authorized watchmakers, and some will refuse. Some will service certain calibers and some will turn them away. Depending on where you are, and who you know, YMMV.
  19. Could it be possible that their staff over there are former Enron executives?

I still find this entire situation quite interesting, as just a day or so before John Brozek was crucified for having a 'repainted' dial fitted in one of the watches he was selling.

Looks as though the movement he started with was that 1560, but ultimately ended up going with the 1570...

Nothing out of the ordinary for an RSC in that regard. New hands are supplied in that manner.

I saw that earlier as well, and was surprised that no one said a word (though plenty of heavy hitters in that thread that know otherwise). I have a feeling they were just trying to be 'polite' (though this seems to be in direct conflict with what the VRF is about, and how Richard handles the sales side of the forum).
  24. To the folks that enjoy posting reps on gen forums and trying to pass them off...
