  1. Just looked through my parts bin; I only have an insert for the larger, men's size J12 (white), and the 33mm (which I have to keep as a spare for my wife's watch; believe me, I'll need it at some point or another)...
  2. Happy Birthday, buddy! Hope it's a great one! Cheers! //ubi
  3. Slap 4 rings on that silver rig, and you're not too far off (though technically, it's Mrs. Ubi's car)
  4. Just got off the phone with him The big guy is doing well, but extremely busy! His time has been largely consumed between work, moving and life in general; just not enough hours in the day for ol' Lani. I did recently send him a watch; a small reminder to not forget his interest in all things horological! Hopefully we'll see him back online soon.
  5. He's been busy with life in general; quite a lot going on. But I've got to give him a call shortly anyways, so I'll let him know that he's missed
  6. I've gota few that would work with 20mm lugs, however the uPO's lugs measure 22mm if I am not mistaken. Just to clarify, the uPO is the larger, 45mm case. I am also US based; if you want to try them, the springbars would be gratis (just let me know where to mail them via PM). Or, you can order an assortment from Ofrei that would be inclusive of multiple sizes. This would ensure that you get at least a few of what you need and then some...
  7. NASCAR style fonts... That's a good way to describe it, Ronin!
  8. Oh, and maybe Liberace (back when he was alive)...
  9. That would be the usual Jacob & Co. owner...
  10. George, After reading this post, my brain is feeling like
  11. I think a well known Rolex dealer in NYC has one of these for his personal watch... It's an unusual watch, but somehow I kind of find it to be fascinating in it's own odd way
  12. Actually, several! at least 4 open spots...
  13. I've been reducing my collection a bit as well; quite a lot just got trimmed off in lieu of new projects coming on board. Seems to be a constant state of ebb and flow...
  14. How bad is the clasp engraving? do you have a pic? Rep clasps are not great in this regard; usually a bit shallow and obviously achieved using laser engraving. Here is mine on my franken: Unfortunately, not a lot of options out there for correcting this, short of going gen for the parts.
  15. If you're set on having an acrylic/plexi crystal Submariner, I would highly recommend getting the appropriate watch to go with it (in this case, that would be a 1680 for Date or 5513 for no date). That would be the best approach. If you do want to try retrofitting an acrylic crystal to a modern 16610-style Sub, you can also purchase an acrylic sheet from one of the parts suppliers, and some (like Jules Borel) will even cut to your specification I believe. I would just recommend doing this on a watch that is not a WM9 Maybe go for one of the lower cost CN Subs instead....
  16. You're after springbars, and those should be fairly easy to source. I don't recall what size is needed for the 45mm PO, but I believe that model should have 22mm lugs, depending on the version you have. Not sure that I have any on hand in that size, but if I do, I can send you a couple sets...
  17. Oh, that's true. The rep 4th gen bracelet is pretty crummy. I had forgotten about that...
  18. I encourage all to be creative and give different methods a try!
  19. Don't get me wrong; V1 is not perfect by any means. But with some work and gen parts, it's a great watch!
  20. Let's hope the wait is worth it! Honestly, I am not sure I will be buying one to wear... But maybe more as a novelty to fill a spot in the watch box
  21. I would not rely on Bob Maron to be... 'ahem' a reputible source of watches. I've seen a number of odd and questionable things advertised for sale on their site; either mis-referenced (such as a plastic crystal 16800, which doesn't exist), or flat out incorrect watches being sold as original when they are clearly not Granted, he does have some decent stuff every now and then, I am just not confident that they do their due diligence on all of their offerings.
  22. OSR- I am curious to see the new 42mm as well. Not sure that I'll be doing another, but it will be interesting to see how it stacks up against the 4th generation!
  23. I would concur that there were many positive qualities of the V1 that are unmatched. The major downside to the V1 was the crown height/position; just a little too low, unfortunately. I also miss mine at times...
