  1. docdoc- If these gaskets are what you need (and hopefully you're in the U.S.), I'll be more than happy to send them your way...
  2. Think you simply need a crown gasket?
  3. I agree; the Mare has always had a strange appeal to me... A 5218-30X would be killer!
  4. I don't know what it is, but I just love the patina'd look of original, 11 year old PVD that's seen some action... Lots of character in that wear, and ages more gracefully than polished steel...
  5. B was a transitional serial range between T and L dials; either could be correct. Also, some T dials could theoretically have been replaced with an L during service as well...
  6. If the lume is the concern, you can always have them relumed with SL?
  7. 2700euro/3600US is on the lower end of the scale for these watches, but it is within the going rate for your run of the mill 5513. My advice is to keep looking, as you can likely find an example from the early 80's or late 70's with matte dial within the same price range.
  8. While I don't have any comment on this particular watch, I do agree with aero and alli; it takes some imagination and creativity to see past certain pieces 'as-is' to visualize the full potential that a watch may have as a project. Some watches might not look great from the start, but with some work those pieces could result in nice builds.
  9. Dial feet location and hands are all the same for 2824, 2836, 2846, 2892, so interchanging amongst those calibers will physically work for the most part, though the only exception would be fitting to/from a 2892; since the movement is much thinner than the others, the 2892's dial feet are shorter, therefore fitting a 2824 dial to a 2892 will result in having too long of dial feet whereas fitting a dial for a 2892 to a 2824 will result in too short of dial feet (i.e. there will not be enough of the dial foot exposed for the clamp to secure against).
  10. Just as an FYI- There was a small batch of WM9 16610s released with the tiny ETA 2671 fitted. Kind of a ridiculous thing to see, as popping the caseback revealed an itty bitty movement surrounded by a huge spacer, but if you're finding that the hands don't fit a 2836, they could be intended for this strange movement option. Best way to confirm is mic the tube diameters. You should see the usual measurements of 90/150/25 for a 2836/2824/2892. If you see 70/120/20, they're for the 2671.
  11. I concur; frankenwatch to me has always meant gen dial, gen movement (in some cases, gen equivalent movement would qualify as well) or a combination of...
  12. I'm with Gran; skipping the diamonds would be best. However, you could just get a standard Ladies' DJ and if she likes it, find an aftermarket bezel set with genuine diamonds. Pricey? Probably, yes, but then she won't have to worry about whether the fake diamonds pass muster or not. For what it's worth, the plain Ladies' DJ rep is quite nice in it's own right...
  13. Finally; the name matches the avatar Gimmie a call sometime to chit chat... Maybe we need to tie in that other guy from the Island as well
  14. NICE!! This one has some great potential... Can't wait to see the next steps of progression!
  15. I didn't even notice that... The biggest rep of all is the site! Yeah... Steer clear of that one... If you want to purchase from Josh, please follow one of the links in his dealer's section...
  16. Hmmmm... The tihngs that stick out to me: 1) crown guards 2) He valve position 3) screws on the bracelet links 4) insert alignment in the bezel etc etc...
  17. Thanks, gang. The hommage is for a friend of my wife's; One of the hardest working guys I know, puts his wife and son before himself in everything and despite his hard work, I'm not sure that they are living as well as they should be. So, I figure a watch might be a fun way to brighten the day for him. I put this thing together with a helenarou kit and a movement I had that was sitting around in the parts box. It's not much, but hopefully he likes it...
  18. Hmmmm... Looks like a press fit 'rivet' head pin. Not sure that I have anything that will work, but I will check! Wish I had my old clasp still... I'd just give it to you...
  19. Wish I could say; it came already fitted to the movement...
  20. torresp and nanuq- You guys are pulling out the old skool stuff now! I have a few to share as well... I remember when L (halley) first PMd us with the discovery he had made, and recall my jaw dropping in disbelief looking at the 6263 and 6265 he had to share with us. I remember that moment well... 07-26-2005...
  21. I have a long list of folks that I need to thank in no particular order... -Lanikai -kruzer00 -archibald -The Zigmeister -justasgood -valerian -torresp -jmb -hikeUSA -chieftang -TwoTone -dluddy -By-Tor -Nanuq -FxrAndy -Jeff G -w0lf -fishgodeep -V -rmcsherry -concepta -marsupilami -chiman22 -deltatahoe -cornerstone -it's_urabus -Katerchen -deniz21 -Eton -P4GTR -sneed12 -mactower -panerai153 -Ronin -Migge -gplracer And the list can go on and on even longer! These folks have helped me in some form or manner, be it with an obscure part, someone to bounce an idea off of or learn from, treats or even just a friendly PM to say hi. Sometimes that's all one needs to turn a less than ideal day around into a great one. Fact of the matter is, I owe my thanks to the entire membership, as it's the community that makes the time spent here a pleasure. From the bottom of my heart... Thanks, gang!!
