  1. Hmmmm... Think you want just the 42mm PO rubber strap (20mm); the strap for the 45mm uPO was 22mm I thought?
  2. I had one of the old TW Best pieces- Supposed to be 14k gold on the gold bits. Swiss 2892 skeletonized movement transplanted... It was a fun watch, but a bit too small. Plus, the gold just wasn't me... The original dial was a gold-ish tone color with small little 'diamonds' on the markers and dauphane hands. Maybe this is what you are ultimately after? A WTB in the trading zone might net some good results...
  3. Daytona for today... Cheers! //ubi
  4. I would suggest the Seagull in lieu of the 7750. Likely to be less issues with getting everything to work/align properly.
  5. What movement did you originally have in this case? The only other issue that I'd worry about is whether the stem will line up center in the case tube.
  6. I suppose that it's a bit ironic... My favroite piece is truly a frankenstein in every sense of the term. But it's valued to me for reasons far beyond anything I can express in words. The day I sat down and watched him put this one together was one I'll never forget. Maybe he'll have a couple of projects of his own sometime soon Thanks for the kind words, D. Much appreciated!
  7. A 7750 has the following measurements for the pinions: Hour 2.00mm Minute 1.20mm So, the center hole of the dial needs to be a slight bit larger than 2mm. If you are able to broach the center hole, it may work.
  8. Dial looks like it's for a Seagull. I think I gave one to Toad that was just like it. Dunno that an A7750 mod-tricompax would fit it properly... The 7750 has large hour/minute pinions- That dial that you have has a small opening at the center and I don't think it will fit over the pinions regardless whether the subdials lined up with the pinions or not.
  9. TeeJay- Do you have a pic of the watch/dial project you are working on? It should be fairly easy to tell by looking at it...
  10. That is correct regarding the sec at 6:00 7750 for the Daytona rep. Because this movement is replicating the gen 4130, the 9:00 and 3:00 subdials are shifted slightly above axis of center (i.e. they are positioned closer to 10:00 and 2:00); the gen movement has the subdials positioned in the same locations as well. The only reasonable swap for one of these movements is the same modified 7750 movement, which will also be problematic as-is without further modification.
  11. A standard Valjoux/ETA and Asian 7750 has: -Minute counter at 12:00 -Running seconds at 9:00 -Hour counter at 6:00 A tricompax Valjoux/ETA 7753 has: -Running seconds at 9:00 -Hour counter at 6:00 -Minute counter at 3:00 Most reps with the tricompax layout 775x watches are in fact modified 7750's with the minute counter output shifted to 3:00. Because the minute counter is not a constantly running gear like running seconds, the shift in output for this function is less critical. And some reps do in fact have true 7753's inside (they are quite pricey, however). Modified A7750 movements that shift running seconds output to 6:00, 12:00 or 3:00 may exhibit some problems over time; how soon or long that takes is really luck of the draw. For more information regarding these movements, have a look at some of the articles Zigmeister has done on the 7750's. Lots of good reading and disection which outlines where these movements go wrong.
  12. If you have the 116520 daytona rep with the running seconds @ 6:00 7750, then this particular movement is problematic due to the modifications needed to shift the running seconds output to it's unintended location. The standard 7750 has running seconds at 9:00; these are far more reliable as the movement is not altered in any way and the stopwatch functions/subsidiaries are as intended.
  13. Congrats on the 1yr. Anniversary, TeeJay! 3719 for today... Happy hump day!
  14. Whoa! HUGE congrats, DAD! This is a big moment! I remember when our little ones were born. Yeah... It's definitely a life changing experience, but absolutely for the better! Be sure to take lots and lots of pics. Especially at these new born ages, they grow fast and change quickly! Oh, and be ready for some sleepless nights and tired days! Congrats, buddy!!
  15. Thanks, deniz... Much appreciated!
  16. Thanks, gents! I'll see if Mrs. Ubi can pick out a dial sometime soon... Progress to be posted as it happens Cheers! R
  17. Indeed... I think the thing that's most difficult is knowing just when to stop. It's easy to get carried away with these things and once too much has been removed, well, that's it. Slow and steady is the only way for me... Constantly checking and re-checking progress as I go. It also helps to not have kids running around and yelling at each other as well
  18. The GST was the first of the great IWC reps to come around, in my humble opinion. These were the trail blazers and as an IWC fanatic, I am grateful for this model as I feel it really paved the way for the many exemplary IWC reps we have today. I wish I still had my white dial GST at times... Maybe I'll have to revisit this one sometime soon... Excellent choice, LHOOQ! Regarding your questions- 1) Not entirely sure, but I think you might be able to adjust from inside the case. Perhaps when you do a day/date wheel swap, you can confirm? 2) Sending the hands out to be lumed is probably the best course of action. 3) 4) Swapping to Swiss ETA day/date wheels should remedy this problem. 5) A gen dial would be tops on this watch! I do see them come up from time to time on the Bay; otherwise, I'm not certain if Concepta can get dials for discontinued pieces like this (might not hurt to at least ask). Cheers! //ubi
  19. Before I start, I have to say that my collection is very small, as I try to keep it within 10 watches or less. My goal is to have a tightly focused core of favorites, so knocking this down to 5 pieces is... Difficult to say the least. As mentioned prior, I have pics posted in every possible corner of the forum... So, I apologize now if any of you guys are sick of seeing these things And if you are tired of seeing these old faces... I'm open to suggestions as to what I should try and build next to break up the monotony First on my list... My 4th Generation 42mm PO franken. This was built on a whim, as I really just wanted to see how far I could take one of these. As a bonus, the bracelet came from RobbieG... So a little sentimental value as well I never knew that I would come to enjoy this one as much as I do. -4th Generation case -Genuine bezel complete -Genuine dial -Genuine hands -2892 datewheel -genuine bracelet Next is my 9411 franken. This is a piece I had built a few years back, but wouldn't come to realize it's significance in my collection until more recently. I built a near exact twin of this same watch for my brother Lanikai; since doing so, a strange, karmatic bond has formed between us in which we can almost expect that when one life occurrence or situation happens with one of us, we can be sure that a similar instance of situation will transpire with the other. It's stranger than fiction and something neither of us can figure out. I figure in order to break free of this strange bond, I'll have to burn the damn watch This piece is comprised of: -MBW case (5513 marked Polex) -ETA 2783 -Genuine dial -Genuine hands (thanks, Zig!) -Genuine T-125 crystal -Genuine insert w/ old pearl -Genuine crown/tube -Case modification -Genuine 580 ends -Genuine 78360 links -Genuine 93150 clasp My next pick is my 16520 franken. This was one of my first builds and remains a favorite. I think I spent a little over a year collecting parts for this thing and finally saw it come to life on my work space. -Genuine case -Genuine dial -Genuine hands -El Primero 400 31j movement -Genuine crown/tube -Genuine bezel -Genuine bracelet (in storage) -Self polished hollow link rep bracelet (the gen bracelet irritates my skin ) My 3717 franken is quite possibly my second favorite watch. This piece is special to me as three extraordinary gents on the forum helped me immensely with parts and build. Thank you, Kruzer00, Lani and Zig! This one has: -V1 EL100 case -Genuine dial -Genuine hands -Swiss 7750 -German ETA D/DW -Chief AR crystal My final piece is a humble one. It's not perfect. It's not accurate to any gen. It's a mish mash of parts, and it's sincere. This is a piece that my son built at the age of 5, with his own two little hands. He did everything from picking the parts he wanted to use, setting the dial, setting the hands, casing the movement and threading on the case back. For that reason alone, this is my most cherished piece... Sorry for the long winded list... Each piece has a bit of interesting background to them which is why they hold a special place in my heart. I have a few pieces that I am working on now that will also likely make the list down the road as they see completion. I guess that's really what makes these builds great in my mind... The path taken to reach the destination... Thanks for allowing me to share... //ubi
  20. I think Mrs. Opti will really enjoy this piece once she has it on her wrist! Pics of this watch only tell half the story; you gotta experience it in person to truly appreciate how great these ceramic J12s are...
  21. Really? I post whore my pieces to death already as it is... Just pick any random posting of mine, and you're sure to see a bunch of pics
  22. Guru- I am sorry for picking up on this late- What size is the J12 that you have? Hit me up via PM and we can go over the specifics. If I have what you need, I'd be more than happy to gift it...
