  1. Yes, the rotor is engraved, as is the mainplate with the movement reference (79350). Aside from that, there's not much else...
  2. Maybe post a WTB. I know of a couple of forum members who have swapped out their dials for gen. Maybe one such member had the white font...
  3. Shaving the outer diameter of the dial has no physical impact on placement of the datewindow, as long as the trimming is done evenly around the edge/diameter. Of course, if you take .5mm off the left or right side only, that will shift the position accordingly, but trimming in this manner would not make any logical sense An MBW 1680 dial is 26mm to fit their cases.
  4. The MBW or ETZ overlay will line the date up with most any dial that has the datewindow in the same position as genuine.
  5. Oddly enough, I think MBW's white 1680 dial is quite decent. Pretty close to the real deal with that one.
  6. The 1655 LHOOQ posted looks like it's just a Sub case with Explorer style bezel fitted. The gen 1655 and 1675 are distinct and unique cases; the dial opening, crystal and bezel are all significantly larger than your typical Sub.
  7. Actually, the dial diameter in the 1680 red looks too small! The insert hole for the pearl is too large to accept the yuki pearl (or genuine acrylic pearl for that matter).
  8. Here is my 3714 with genuine 79350 transplanted: Movement ref under the balance wheel:
  9. CGs look okay, but they will still need shaping. Lugs need to be drilled for springbars, and the crown and tube will also likely need to be changed. No idea what will fit as far as dials go...
  10. One of these days... I'm going to have to pick up one of these beautiful Subs... Your pics make it hard to resist...
  11. Oooh! Looks like it even fits rather well! We must have similar sized wrists? Glad to see this watch go to a good home, my friend! It wasn't having a very pleasurable time in my collection collecting all that dust and what not. At least I know it's in good hands with you, D! Cheers and enjoy... //ubi
  12. Let's see if I can achieve consistent results first! I'll try to give insert #2 a go this week as time permits...
  13. Yes- The center hole on the dial will fit over the hour/minute/seconds pinions.
  14. Ultimately, I would forego any red variant and just opt for the white font dial. A genuine white font dial will be easier and less expensive to procure and will make more sense for a franken project; if you're going the route of using a gen 1570, a rep or aftermarket dial just isn't doing justice to your project, and the price of red dials are cost prohibitive; they just don't make sense to use for a franken (in my opinion).
  15. Should be the same part for those models.
  16. kamber, If I have a spare clasp end link, I'll send it your way. I will have to check the spares though. As for ladies watches... Errrr, there aren't too many that I keep current on, mostly because the vast majority have CZs on them or other frilly stuff. Mrs. Ubi is a minimalist when it comes to watches, so she likes plain, simple SS or ceramic, no 'diamonds' or bling. For the time being she's content with her J12, and I'm currently building her TW Best ladies DJ into a franken... In the past, she's tried the 40mm PAMs: Just a bit too big and top heavy for her liking though. None the less, that might also be a nice option
  17. Ahhh... Probably $200-ish for just the clasp...
  18. Neat home brewed project, jmb!
  19. jmb- Let me experiment with a few more inserts that I have. If I can consistently get decent results, I'd be more than happy to age yours for you if you like? chief- Man, that is a smokin' hot SD!
  20. If you are using an MBW 5513 POLEX (originally fitted with a 2836-2), swapping in the 2846 sans datewheel will be no prob whatsoever. Stem lines right up, no issues.
  21. Yep... Ceramic breaks! Mrs. Ubi can attest to that! J12 #1: J12 #2: Thankfully we have spares and spares of our spares!
  22. Hmmmm... 1520 should be fairly close in fit? That's the non-date movement, though I am not sure how it would compare to a 1570 with the date module removed Interesting... Very, very interesting...
