  1. Ha! I wish.... No, just the panda dial is mine The all black 3714-38 was someone else's that was receiving the same mods at the same time...
  2. The case needs to be machined down to allow the bezel to sit deeper in the case. The following are progress pics of my watch from bricciola: As for the specifics re: measurements, etc. I'm afraid I don't have any idea.
  3. Fascinating pics! The DSSD looks right at home in the elements... Great post, PS!
  4. That's got a very interesting dial. A bit busy, but not unpleasing to the eye. Quite tasteful, actually...
  5. My frankens all have more sentimental value to me than any of my gens, past or present. This is mostly because I build them myself, my own two hands and thus I interact with them far more than I would had I just purchased at the AD. Those that don't understand, probably never will, nor does it really matter to me. I build my watches for me. Much like people who spend a fortune on building cars, or collecting baseball cards or whatever, a hobby is what you make of it.
  6. All stock at the moment; waiting for the right opportunity to start working on this one (i.e. when I start winding down some other projects first).
  7. My pants tighten every time I see that gif...
  8. IWC 3714-04 -Genuine 79350 movement -Rep case modified -Rep dial -TWB kevlar style strap -Chief AR crystal waiting to go in
  9. I know someone that can make custom retainer rings
  10. T-19 might not have the necessary height to fit correctly; you'd be better of getting a helfands T39 (flat style) and adding a bevel to the edge or getting a Clark's T39 SD crystal for relatively low cost solutions. However, I agree with aligoat, and would recommend that you mic the inside and outside diameter of your existing crystal to ensure proper fit. I do know that the crystals I cited will fit an MBW, but if your 1665 is of the newest CN reps I can't say for certain what will or won't fit (I understand there are some examples being delivered with the retaining ring fitted with an additional nylon gasket, and I've yet to see one of these in person otherwise). As for the dial- If your current dial is 26.5mm, the Yuki dial should fit, no problem.
  11. Similar to the 3717 Roll Call, I thought it would be fun to get all the Portu owners together in one spot. I thought it also might be beneficial to capture some data here as well, mostly pertaining to the movement contained inside your watch, any modifications performed for longevity (if using the A7750), and how long you've owned said watch(es). I know there are a few of us out there that own these beauties; please post them if you have them. Cheers! //ubi
  12. The Inge is a great watch; nice and solid, though a bit chunky. Overall quality is great; Swiss ETA 2824 or 2836 are my personal preference, though some people don't mind the Asian clones. As with any rep, there are a couple of small flaws and some things to look for. The first 'flaw' is of course the datewheel font. The rep comes with rounded numbers for the date, whereas the gen has a squared font. Standard rep datewheel: Corrected datewheel with a 'lello' overlay: Aside from that, you should be aware that the clasp has a bit of a weak spot where the clasp blade is joined at the link (it is prone to breaking). There are a couple of other items to watch for, though I didn't group them with the above as these details tend to be inconsistent; i.e. some watches have these problems and some don't. 1) Crooked 12:00 or 6:00 marker 2) outer chapter ring not aligning 100% with the hour markers Aside from that, it's a great watch, and nitpicking aside, very close to gen as-is 'out of the box'. One of our forum members (fxrandy) did a comparison of rep to gen (he has both). That will give you a good idea as to how good this rep is! (EDIT: Looks like Andy beat me to it!) Hope this helps, and welcome to the forum... //ubi
  13. Congrats, BT! I know you've been chasing this one for a while now. And you've finally got it! Looking sharp! So, having had the rep and now the gen, what are your overall impressions of the rep?
  14. A very interesting case; especially for a 16800. $600 BIN sans bezel assembly or any other component may be a bit steep, especially considering that the case appears to need some work to bring it up to snuff (i.e. lugs look as though they need drilling to open up the springbar holes, lugs look a bit too chunky, etc). No idea where this one originates from, however...
  15. Yes- That is for a 16523 two tone case that you purchased. I paid $1200 for my gen 16520 case 4 years ago. 116520 cases on the other hand are a completely different story; it's a completely different case altogether. The price you (or I paid) for an El Primero case is not comparable to a genuine 116520 case; a 116520 is the only case that will accept a 4130 in house movement, and are seldom seen for sale a la carte. When they do come up, they are easily $3500 or more. If you can find one for less, let me know.
  16. Getting started a little early as it's still early evening here in Denver, but what the hey. I figure it's Tuesday on the other side of the globe at least Tues- FGD dialed, Jimmy cased, Swiss powered Dirk strapped Pre-A 002: Cheers, //ubi
  17. Some pics of the datewheels, as promised. 2836 has the stepped lip: This next pic is not so great as the DoF is rather shallow. But it still gets the point across: Hope this helps... Cheers, //ubi
  18. N- I've seen gen 4130's come up for sale, but by the time you're into a 4130 ($4300) with a gen 116520 case ($3500), you'd be left to find a dial, hands, bracelet etc. All said and done you'll be into it for around the same price as buying an outright gen on the low end. As for the 116509 in your pic, the project to gen ratio is only slightly better as the gen is anywhere from $17k to $25k; finding the 18k WG case a la carte is going to be tricky, and even then the case alone is likely going to cost $7k; add in the bracelet and you're probably looking at $10k. Add in the movement, dial, etc. and you're at the low end figure for gen
  19. I'd say welcome, but it looks as though you're quite familiar with the forum already Some great watches owned past, but I have a feeling that more great watches are in your future! Great to have you here
  20. I see them listed on JB's DB for $4.00/per. Looks as though you can also use a stem from a 1530 as well? Not sure about that, but that may be something to investigate...
  21. A 2824 datewheel just won't fit correctly; the gearing/teeth are stepped down to fit into the 2836's channel/ratchet. The flat datewheel for the 2824 lacks that step, and hence won't fit properly. When I get home (and if there is enough daylight), I'll snap some pics to illustrate.
