  1. I have to say- Projects like this are never cheap, nor are they easy There comes a point where money becomes less of a determining factor, and simply being able to complete a project to see it through to the end is the motivation to finish. This is especially true when you've got a year+ worth of time invested into the project; that's something that is oft times not taken into account in the total spend, and that's a resource you can never get back. Besides... When a project is spread out like this, picking up parts here and there is a little less impacting in terms of cost; certainly not the same as paying that amount all at once. The total amount looks big in the overall picture, but when spread out, it's not so bad- Especially since we're talking gen parts here. And significantly less than the gen's $17k price tag. Much respect for Marcus' work on this. Expensive? Yes. But exclusivity has it's price
  2. Great review! The POrikaa, at the price Narikaa offers these at, is an amazing value for the money! Hope your Uncle enjoys his new gift I'm certain he'll be blown away by this one!
  3. I'll be sure to let him know that you're all pulling for him! I am certain it will help lift his spirits a bit... Knowing that people are thinking of him You guys are the best... R
  4. Spoke with him the other day. He was expecting to be moved out of the ICU and into General Care. A good sign that he's improving. He sends his regards, and I suspect he misses his time on the forum very much. I'll probably call him tomorrow to see how he's feeling.
  5. Good stuff for sure, Pugs! The modding bug can go dormant, but it will never go away entirely What's next?
  6. I think these types of posts are interesting, if only to gauge how far the rep industry has come. The topic of 'most convincing' or 'best replica' is a constantly moving target as factories improve their quality and rate of production. This is an ever evolving industry... As such, the list of 'best' is likely not to remain static. Personally, I don't have any thoughts on 'most convincing out of the box rep' as I can never leave a watch alone anyways. They all have their faults no matter how minimal. The day when reps are perfect is the day I'll probably be bored
  7. The MBW RO Jumbo is a very nice watch, but it does have some flaws- -Case construction -Gold bezel screws -Hands are incorrect in terms of shape and finish -Genuine 15202/2121 does not have a seconds hand. If you can look past those flaws, it's a nice watch- Great feel to it and the brushing on the case is well done. Before I parted with mine, I modded the movement with a new cannon pin to eliminate the seconds hand... I wish someone would do a nice, accurate Classic Royal Oak (36mm and Jumbo) with the correct case construction, etc. They were able to do it with the Nautilus... The RO isn't much different.
  8. The 18k ROO on bracelet (e.g. 25721BA) is like a solid gold brick! An amazing piece... Any pics of the 36mm for your wife?
  9. I recently had a parcel going to the UK that was charged fees; odd as that had never happened to me before. For what it's worth, the parcel cleared fairly quickly otherwise...
  10. Looking good, Pugs! As for white tritium markers... Those are all original. No relume work, etc. The tone and color of the tritium is not dependant on age, per se; rather, the tritium may change in these attributes from exposure to humidity and other elements. This is why an original dial in a well sealed and water/air tight 30 year old watch can still have white indicies/markers, whereas a replacement dial that's been sitting in a parts bin for 10 years can have creamy off white to dark coffee toned markers.
  11. That Jaxa wrench will work fine for Omega casebacks.
  12. Spoke with Lani on the phone today; good news as they are going to be moving him out of the ICU today and into general care. Slow but steady...
  13. I think the case numbers for the 42mm are: 168.1651 168.1653 Hope this helps
  14. Sounds like fun! I bet your son loved it, B!
  15. More parts arrived today... Update to follow soon...
  16. Web definitions of the term 'ubiquitous' and some wiki entries for mine...
