  1. Just in the short amount of time since I posted this, there's quite a few responses, and yes- They all seem to echo the same! This leads me to believe that: 1) We're MEN! It's all about the thrill of the hunt, and once the 'prey' is obtained, it's time to move on, yes? 2) This seems to plague us in terms of a hobbyist's perspective. I suppose that if one were to pose the same inquiry on a car/watch/phone/model/RC/etc forum, the results would likely be similar. 3) It seems to be a common issue amongst us; I don't feel quite so crazy anymore 4) If I added up everything I spent for the past 4 years, I'd have an eye opening experience! Still interested in seeing what folks think on this topic... It's kind of fun! Errr... It also helps me feel a little mroe sane!
  2. Thanks, HD! Maybe when it's finished, I might consider... But by then, it might be too late! I may have fallen in love with it and decide to give it a permanent home Just a few more pics... I LOVE that gen parts fit without any hassle! I must admit that sanding down those gen inserts to fit the rep bezels was among my least favorite things to do. Not so much because of the sanding, but more because it was ruining a perfectly nice part. With this model... Not even a concern any longer...
  3. All I can do is chuckle when I think about the scene where the stewardess is inflating that rep pilot. That's a classic film... No worries about being politically correct since it's an equal opportunity offender They don't make them like they used to....
  4. B- I'm going to say that the pilot on the left is a rep. Look at the crownguards on the guy! They're terrible!
  5. Folks, Regardless of how it's labled, the euromariner/wm9/whatever is a damn good watch. I love mine to death; and I'm not even a huge modern Sub fan to begin with! None the less, simply being able to fit gen parts is the icing on the cake, especially for folks who enjoy modding. My project has been a fun experience thus far; sure it's not perfect out of the box, but that's what makes it great in my opinion. There's room to improve and add your own touch!
  6. Thanks, gang! Your well wishes are VERY much appreciated! I'm past ready to feel better... Sitting around in bed all day is no fun
  7. For me... I find myself constantly rushing out to check the mail box or door stop to see if anything's arrived for me; even if I know I haven't purchased anything in a very long while. I've been thinking about this for a long time, and I believe myself to be a compulsive buyer; this I came to the conclusion while my watch funds (which stay completely autonomous from all other funds and for a reason) came to a screeching halt. Guess those gen vintage dials and parts tend to add up. *sigh* For me... It seems to be more about the acquisition, as once I have a part that I've been searching for/paid for/waiting for in hand, I install it on whatever project I'm working on and before I know it, I'm off starting 3 or 4 other projects with parts in transit. Meanwhile, the part(s) just rec'd go slightly un-noticed (but maybe not necessarily unappreciated). Is that any way to treat a pet project? Or in terms of buying reps... Ever get excited about a new watch, purchase it, receive it, give it a quick once over glance and start looking at everything else that's new (and scheming on what will be the next buy)? Anybody else know what I'm talkin 'bout? I dunno... Maybe I'm just bummin... I think it's time to check myself in.... They have support groups for stuff like this, y'know...
  8. You'll need a 1.5 or 1.6mm screw driver to remove the pins. Fairly easy to do. For that 'just right' adjustment, you might also want to adjust the 12:00 side links via the clasp and the micro-adjustment pin. By experimenting with the different settings, you can get the clasp to sit perfectly centered on your wrist if adjustment via links doesn't do it alone.
  9. urwerk 103.03 for me, thanks. Sure, there's cooler and more expensive watches out there, but I'd be quite pleased to have one of these.
  10. Ehhh... We all hate to wait. But after a while, I think you'll find that the anticipation also kind of makes it fun Just trying to put a positive spin in your situation. Have faith! Cheers...
  11. Thanks, buddy! I'm feeling a lot better already (vs. 2 days ago). Still not 100% but getting there! Thank goodness for the Z-Pak! My personal savior.
  12. I'm currently laying in bed, fighting off bronchitis with the help of a Z-Pak (I initially thought I had some sort of flu). Even though I'm laid out, I figure I still get to play, right? I currently have this rotating around on the watch winder: I have this one on my right wrist to keep it wound: And this one's on the left: Ughhhh.
  13. I think the PO is more of a nod to their vintage heritage, which I thought was a nice touch. I think it could have probably been marketed a little better, but all in all, I see it as an interesting hommage to the original.
  14. One of my favorites as far as Omegas go. The simplicity of this one is what really appeals to me! Very nice! I love it!
  15. As all others have mentioned, this is SOP. Nothing to worry about just yet...
  16. The older, vintage Omegas have the crystals signed Omega. Not sure if this is across certain/all models or not.
  17. Welcome from another mile high member...
  18. I agree with phoband- The watch wears much bigger than 39mm! The case height and overall dial diameter and presence lends to a larger look and feel. I had one of these for sometime; same as pho's, as he turned me onto them. Fantastic watch, and I regret letting mine go as I do miss it. Sadly, it never got much wrist time.
  19. I've researched the build, and I can probably put one together (with a TRUE solid 18k gold case) for around $8.5k. This is with all genuine parts minus the case (i.e. 3155, dial, hands, crystal, crown, etc). I've yet to do it, because I can buy a nice vintage GEN 1803 for the cost to build.
  20. A classic Maciek post! Well done as always!!
  21. Personally speaking, I don't need a seconds hand I am neither a pilot or an aviator; rather, just someone who likes the clean, uncluttered look of not having the seconds hand Ah well... If it can't be done, it can't be done.
  22. Me likeys! Any chance or possibility of a 'base'/no seconds option for the dial? That's one gorgeous pilot!!
