  1. Snapped some pics of some interesting pieces that have dropped by for a brief stay... Arch's PAM49: A gorgeous piece, with some mods; I believe a gen CG and some AR work. Quite the stunner! Spat's EE6263: Watchmaster MM Radiomir Hommage:
  2. My old DW with the MM movement would only accept a Swiss V23 as a drop-in: A V72 could be retrofitted, but there is some mill work required to get the stem to line up right. Also, the pushers will not be inline with the crown from a profile standpoint.
  3. I have no idea how you guys are able to count the teeth so well; I had to count and re-count a few times on mine... 52 teeth on mine from kruzer...
  4. I'm always down for the Big O. Not necessarily talking about the football team, however
  5. Thanks, guys! Stilty- The powertrain inside is a Swiss 2836; while I wish it were a 2892, I can hardly complain Cheers, R
  6. A very small updated pic with a new seconds and minute hand installed: Much, much better compared to the old:
  7. Just food for thought; Rolex's latest in-house 4130 is designed with a ball bearing rotor. In my opinion, that design aspect would have to have been chosen for a reason
  8. kruz- That would definitely be the issue with subcontracting parts out; it's difficult to standardize anything. As a brand example, look at Rolex! It took them many, many decades to bring everything in house; even after everything was integrated and consolidated, they still have issues of inconsistency, and this is with their new stuff! So... Who's to really know?
  9. More or less as I had suspected, then Those Breits wear huge on my wrist! But only due to the profile of the case... I may have to put this Ebel into consideration and on the list...
  10. Looks like the rep factories aren't the only ones with the 'one step forward, three steps back' philosophy Seriously; there are some aspects that I like about the new case (tighter build tolerances, ceramic bezel), but there are far more that I find myself detracted with- thicker, clumsier looking lugs, ROLEX engraved rehaut, half height CG's and what is the deal with that pearl?!?! That'll be the first thing that gets knocked off. I'm trying to look at the new design from a neutral position and with an open mind, but I'm finding it not easy to conform. This one, like the DSSD may take a while to grow on me... Until then... Make it a 16610 for me!
  11. For a watch like the Deep Sea, it's only going to attract attention, especially from the die hard Rolex WIS. That said, why would someone want to draw attention to themselves wearing a rep like that? The DSSD is not to my personal taste, but it does have technical and functional merit. It may be one of those watches that I warm up to eventually, but for now, it's just a bit too... Eccentric(?) for me.
  12. Personally, I like the pick, and I'm eager to see what she's able to bring to the table! This should be an interesting race, to say the least! P.S. For a 44 year old mother of 5, she's looking pretty dang good. Kind of has that Tina Fey look. Dunno what it is about a girl in glasses, but Wish my wife would wear hers a little more often...
  13. Interesting; there are a number of factors that look to be counter-balancing the size issue. My observations: 1) The overall effect of size has more to do with the bezel and dial, and less to do with the actual case since the measurement of 43mm is likely to be at that outer most tip of the case, which otherwise stays contoured with the round shape of the case. 2) The dial, along with the color coordinated and raised chapter combined with the thin tachy bezel in contrast gives the dial an overall larger appearance and may lend to a slightly larger appearance. 3) Case looks to be relatively thin in comparison to an Oyster case; this may also lend to a slightly smaller look in appearance. Overall, the watch does indeed appear to wear at a comfortable size, and looks very nice! Out of curisoity, from a size standpoint, how does this compare to your SFSO?
  14. There is some overlap with the Superdome 39; some of the early production 1665 whites came with the Superdome 39; later models towards the end of the reference (prior to the 16660) came with the 'flat'. There is also a standard domed 39 which is slotted between the Superdome and flat as well. 1680 comes with a Cyclope 127; there are a few different flavors of these as well. The early iterations came with a 45 degree angle at the top edge of the crystal whereas the later versions had a 90 degree angle with bevel. FWIW- 5512/5513/5514 came with the T-19, as did Tudor 7928's, 7016, etc. etc. Tudor 9411's came with the Cyclope 125 Etcetera, etc. Acrylic crystals press right to the lip of the case via friction; no gaskets, etc. The crystal retaining ring then adds external pressure to the crystal to help seal the case; in some instances, there is an additional rubber gasket that fits under the retaining ring, but this gasket is not applicable to all models (even within the same ref in some cases).
  15. Picked up my Canon Rebel XT earlier this month for less than $500; came with an 18 - 55mm lens and battery. Personally, I love it and have found it to be a great value for the money.
  16. Hmmmm.. When I look at the LeJour, I see a number of other pieces... BP Fifty Fathoms Seiko 62MAS Even a little Omega SMP300...
  17. I need to see if I have any spares sitting around; if I do, I'll let you know and send gratis. I'll check tomorrow evening...
  18. Okay... Dug this one out. It's a bit of an oldie, purchased 4 or so years back from River. Of course, it's been sitting unused due to a broken stem; sheared off right at the crown and I haven't been able to find a suitable replacement for either. I've been considering the idea of parting it out, but I don't have any projects in mind that can use a P3133... Of course, not the most accurate, but still a neat piece in my opinion. Kind of funky, especially with the partially fixed lug bars.
  19. Agree, deltatahoe; the sapphire models, while all very nice, just seem a bit sterile in comparison.
  20. Hey addingwatch- How about some pics of the franken-Pateks you've put together over the years? I recall you had a very nice doctor's watch at some point...
  21. There's just something about the simplicity and charm of a watch that was designed in a different era. Matte dials, plain luminous markers applied directly to the dial... The acrylic crystals... There's just something about the warmth and character of a vintage that a modern iteration just can't caputre... Some past and present over the years....
  22. Agree with w.genzo; I had to replace the entire bezel assembly on mine; retaining ring, washer, spring, bezel ring and insert. The gen bezel ring is not a direct fit to the rep parts...
  23. Both items are legit. $338 ending bid- not bad. I sold my gen dial recently for a similar price; hindsight being 20/20, I had doubts that maybe I underpriced myself, but now I don't feel too bad about it.
