  1. Fantastic! A wonderful companion to your gorgeous Tudor chrono!
  2. We have watch modders... And we have phone modders. I love this place.
  3. If they can make a no date model like the fantasy photoshop that elprimerozen posted, I'd likely buy one for the novelty, regardless of it being correct or not.
  4. Definitely agree with that. The larger 16.5'" size of the UT and UT clone makes handling the movement much easier for someone starting out.
  5. Could very well be. Or simply differences in parts batches, etc. Difficult to say why things aren't consistent... And any theories on our part regarding the matter will be nothing more than conjecture, unfortunately.
  6. tr4- The washer provides pressure and resistance to the bezel to keep it from spinning freely. The way the bezel physically functions is that to turn it or adjust it, one needs to press the bezel down against the case to rotate. The washer acts as a sort of spring to hold it in place. Most parts suppliers should carry a washer for the 1665 and 1680/5512/5513. Should be less than $10.00, though count on it being aftermarket. Or get with Chris to see what your options are... Hope this helps! Cheers, R
  7. The old 16610? That one was traded almost a year ago. I had been turned off of Subs for a while, but the WM9 was too tempting to pass up. I'm glad I gave it a try; high buy in price, but all said and done, it's a fun piece! Thank you, sir. Your kind words are appreciated!
  8. I can vouch for the WM9... Easily modded with gen parts.
  9. Yeah... Not all of Rolex's new models have the rehaut engraving. You should have the little bar code printed on on the protective sticker on the side of the case (opposite of the crown). Dunno about the caseback sticker, though I do know that some Asian markets (i.e. Japan) have a region specific sticker they affix to the back (and this is not a hologram, BTW). Edit: After a quick search, I think I may have found an example of your caseback sticker. Does it look like this?
  10. The absence of that washer may simply be an oversight from production.
  11. The SRSD's likely never saw any RSC's during the time of R&D; rather, these were sent directly back to Rolex S.A. for tear down along with diver analyisis/feedback from the individual specifically assigned to the watch for testing. Since these were prototype pieces for development, parts were exchanged regularly, and hence why original examples are so few and far between. There are a few pieces that were left untouched without updates; reason or rationale behind this is unknown.
  12. How is the bezel attached to the case? With the bezel removed, do you see a thick metal stepped ring around the crystal like this?
  13. Regarding the phone software- Anyway to upgrade to the SymbianOS?
  14. P.S. The Watch Repair & Upgrade section may be of interesting reading to you as well. I would recommend spending some time researching that forum as there is quite a lot of knowledge within. Good luck. R
  15. You will likely need a movement ring/spacer and case clamps. FWIW, Ofrei sells a kit of sorts that includes everything you need, including the movement specific to the case they provide. Might be best to go this route if this is your first time building; it will definitely eliminate the frustration factor, which will make all the difference with your experience in a project like this.
  16. F.P. Journe... I like this man's way of thinking! A Resonance would be
  17. You'll need a case set suitable for the movement you're planning on using. Not all cases are compatible with all movements; you definitely need one that allows the movement and stem to line up center in the crown tube, otherwise you risk snapping the stem. Just what exactly are you trying to build? That might make for providing an easier answer. As the question stands, it's somewhat vague and difficult to really provide any insight to your inquiry...
  18. I don't think I'm geeky enough to understand. Is it a pixelated interpretation of goatse.cx or sumptin?
  19. There's a gorgeous SS UN Marine Chronometre on bracelet for sale on TZ right now; $3500 and would be a great looking watch on a strap as well. I like the idea of an older Zenith El Primero also; Zenith is a phenominal value for the money! Though I also think a nice 16800 with original matte dial might be an option to consider too (gee, dunno why I would think that ). Decisions like this are difficult as the choice of watch is purely subjective to the buyer; depending on if you want modern, vintage etc. there are a ton of options out there within your price range. However, if I were in your position, I'd keep your current favorite to wear as a daily, sell off the rest of the collection and save up to push your budget into the $10k - $12k range. This will give you something to wear while opening up your options even more. Just my $0.02...
  20. For gen and MOST reps (there are some out there that are incorrect), the LV 50th Anniversary 16610 comes with what is called Maxi Markers (larger than standard indicies) on the dial and Maxi Hands (the minute hand is wider than that of standard). These are actually the same size markers and hands that are on the 16622 YM as well. Standard 16610: 50th Anniversary 16610LV: Both pics ref'd are of genuine examples (not mine).
  21. There are only a few to exist as original, that's for certain! Most are likely to be living as DRSD's, or perhaps on the bottom of an ocean floor somewhere
  22. Looking forward to seeing pics of your long awaited beauty, M! My 16520 pair send their regards
  23. I am at a loss for words. That is one STUNNING work of art!
  24. M serial is supposedly the end of the line for the 16600; there may be some heavy speculation on the collectible nature of this particular production of serial range.
