  1. Take into account the cost of servicing the movement (which is likely to be necessary) and you're coming up on the price of what that $150 movement would have cost anyways. That's also considering that the movement is in decent working order as-is with no need to replace parts, etc. However, if you're buying the 'brand new' movement from a parts house like Ofrei, then you need to be aware that in many cases, these aren't exactly new movements either...
  2. The price of becoming an early adaptor... *sigh* Wonder how many AD's are selling at above MSRP? Or at MSRP for that matter?
  3. It's also interesting to note that the Rolex market in general seems to sort of flow in cycles. For the past few months over the Summer, I've been seeing a bit of a lull in sales on the secondary market; some nice pieces have been sitting for a while with weekly reductions at times. Granted, this isn't applicable to all models across the board, however it is worth while to note that this trend is actually taking place with some models that one would typically consider to be 'in-demand'. If you're looking for a good deal on watches, an IWJG show may net some good results. Granted you have to become a member...
  4. Something interesting on the new 5513 MBK dial that stood out to me was the fact that the indicies were actually lumed.
  5. Didn't know that as well. Thought it was all pressed together using the friction pins. Learn something new every day
  6. Interesting. If you're using a genuine gasket, that should fit perfect with the 16800/16610 retaining ring. Genuine gasket fitting the case would indicate that the diameter of the case lip to hold the gasket is of correct measurement. If that's of correct measurement, the O.D. should be of correct size to allow the retaining ring to properly seat and seal; especially if it's NOS. Very odd...
  7. There's just something about a nice 1675... No matter which bracelet is fitted!
  8. Yup. Make sure it's the Height 2/C2 gasket and it should work with no problem.
  9. Nope. Never tried dealing the price down. I just ended up going elsewhere for what I wanted
  10. Glad to see that, as drilling lug holes is my least favorite thing to do. I dislike it so much, in fact that I always send mine out to Ziggy as he does a much nicer job of it than I could anyways
  11. Wow! Great work! That's a phenominal piece, and even more amazing is the amount work invested. Good stuff!
  12. The Euromariner should be able to accept a gen crystal with no problem provided that the correct gasket is used. And, of course the WM9 does, but you knew that already
  13. *drroooooooool* Amazing. Simply incredible piece there. Gen movement and dial, nice crown, CG... Basically, everything. That's a keeper if I've ever seen one!
  14. There's something to be said for good QC, no doubt.
  15. On the 12:00 side of the bracelet, the links are indeed connected to the clasp via a springbar. This is the case for rep and gen Rolex models. Chances are, you may just have a faulty springbar.
  16. And back at ya! I tip my hat to your's as well
  17. Absolutely beautiful. In a time where mass production and CAD/CNC technology, it's refreshing to see the work of artisans in a sincere form. The engraving on that Elgin is gorgeous!
  18. Hmmmm... This reminds me. I may have an El Primero coming due soon...
  19. Very intriguing project! I'm quite interested to see this one turn out. It should be a great final product once completed!
