  1. The differences become VERY apparent when dealing in a $100k PN 6239! Lack of box and paps can cost a seller dearly on a watch of that level...
  2. Let's hope Pharrel doesn't follow the same financial planning path as Scott Storch.
  3. Ultimately, the value of papers relative to the watch depends on which model you are dealing with. The higher the collectibility/value/demand for the item, the more important it becomes to have a full, complete package (i.e. box, papers, hang tags, calendar, etc. PLUS RSC papers for service history). And it also depends on the brand as well; with Rolex, having this provenance is critical from a collector's/investor's standpoint. I've seen some examples differ 30%+ in price with or without these items. For brands such as Patek, it's a little less important to have the original papers as they can issue an extract from the archives if you send in the watch. The thing with RSC papers alone is that it's not exactly what collectors consider to be a reflection on provenance. Granted, it proves that a watch has been in and out of a Service Center and has received a clean bill of health; however, it does not guarantee that a watch has been tampered with after the service has been done. Case in point- RSC's have stopped documenting exotic dialed watches as it has become common place for unscrupulous individuals to obtain paperwork confirming the presence of a certain dial type (i.e. red sub, DRSD, Newman, etc) and to then swap dials with a repaint or aftermarket dial and sell as original; the ramifications coming back to the RSC as a liability is something that Rolex wanted to wash it's hands of; as they had provided statement in writing of a certain dial which sells at a premium to be authentic it holds them accountable. Also, it has been known that some of the service centers were servicing watches with non-original dials as well, and simply letting them pass through. So, in this sense, the RSC paperwork is not what one considers definitive and why some collectors tend to pass on pieces that come only with RSC papers.
  4. Great thing about these vintage models; popping off the bezel to swap inserts is a snap. So, whichever you get, you should also pick up some inserts to go along with
  5. So, what did you end up affixing the insert with?
  6. EPZ- I think $50 is being a bit generous, isn't it?
  7. Very interesting piece! I find myself quite intrigued...
  8. Personally, I like #3; nice patina, papers, box, tags, etc, yet still in relatively nice, clean shape. Price... $7k?
  9. LOL @ 1 Offer made! Wonder how low ball that offer is?
  10. Long time no see! Not an MBW per se, but....
  11. My experience in ladies' DJ dials is limited; the lip fastening style is the only one I've seen...
  12. If I recall correct, the (gen) ladies DJ dials have no dial feet...
  13. Oops! Yes... Misread the price. $14k US/
  14. I think Audi uses a 4,000K temp HID/xenon; pretty blue in terms of hue
  15. Yes indeed, kind sir Provenance is key! And folks who are seriously looking for a full meal deal watch (full B&P, service history papers, and an even bigger plus for returned old parts) end up paying the premium for such pieces, though the peace of mind is usually worth it for such examples. Those are the vault queens That said, I think the watch in question here is far from it's €14,000 price tag...
  16. You know... I'm really starting to gain an appreciation for the new Bluey. Sorry, I don't have anything else to add, gio, but the more I look at this, the more I think I could live with one of these
  17. Grab a cup of coffee (or drink of choice) and spend some time reading through this forum. I think you'll find several different options for a nice Sub, and depending on what your criteria are for a watch, I am certain you'll find something that fits your requirement! For what it's worth, there are many available in different price ranges: -Noobmariner -Euromariner -MBW/MBK -PT Supreme -WM9 Of course, if you have any questions regarding specifics on any of the ones referenced (or not ref'd), there are many available who can assist with answers! Cheers and have fun...
  18. For me, the regular daily stuff seems to include... Probably wearing a watch on each wrist to keep them both wound throughout the day. Or wiping off the crystal with a small cloth to keep it dust free... Usually 3 - 10 times within a minute. I've also been known to stand in front of the watch box around midnight to watch the date changing on the watches that have them. My wife's favorite, however is when I'm staring at one of my watches and she asks what time it is, only to hear me reply 'uh, I dunno, let me check'. Usually get a pretty funny eye rolling from that one. BTW- For charging up lume, I find that using one of my car's HID headlights works really well. You can really get those markers charged up in just a few seconds...
  19. Agreed, though I bring up the 'All Original' issue as that is what the seller has stated on his auction. Now, the term can be interpreted in several ways; for me, all original means just that- All parts on the watch are as it came when new- No replacements. However, someone else's opinion on it might be 'all original Rolex parts'; e.g. no aftermarket parts fitted, but replacement parts are okay since it's all genuine. In my opinion, and this is my standpoint for vintage Rolex examples, a watch stated as all original should be just that; if it's not (and clearly this watch isn't), then it's misrepresented. With that said, I have to wonder what else is not as it would seem Yes, I know... It's a matter of semantics. But that's how I interpreted it.
  20. Old 127 with tall bevel: New 127 with small bevel: The old is what should be on a watch that is claimed to be 'all original', in my opinion.
