Sounds like there is a clearance issue with the date overay and the dial on those specific days. The datewheel overlay (which is a thin metal calendar disc glued to the ETA datewheel) is used to reposition the location of the date to better match that of a Rolex's. This overlay may be either lifting, or not affixed down correctly on those particular date, hence causing the date change to stick, as the overlay is rubbing/coming into contact with the back of the dial. Not the most difficult fix, but the movement does need to come out of the case and dial and hands removed to access.

If you want a great value for your money, look into the VW Phaeton with the W12. It has the same Quattro AWD system as the A8, but was essentially the production test bed for the Bentley Continental (GT and Flying Spur); the chassis is shared amongst the three models, but the Phaeton was used as the test basis prior to rolling out production with the Flying B. The Phaeton has suffered large depreciation; you can pick one up for relatively little money, but have a vehicle which shares much of the DNA structure as the Bentleys. BTW- We are on our 3rd Audi (I bought my wife an '04 A4 1.8TQ Avant 6sd Sport) and I think this will be our last German. Even with our extended CPO warranty, every service visit ends up costing us between $500 and $1k. This last time we had to replace a number of items, including: -All 4 coil packs -Fuel pump -Fuel filter -Battery -Coolant flange (again- our 2nd time in 5k miles) Our prior visit required: -Timing belt -Water pump -New valve cover gasket What's more, we have to bring the car back again, as our fuel gauge is now problematic. Wife's next car will likely be a Lexus...

True solid 18k WG DD's do exist. Pricey, but they're available. Also, it's possible to build them as well, though it's not the most cost effective project to partake in; I could obtain a gen 1803 for what it would cost to build a 3155 based piece. As for plated models- It would have to be a case with rhodium flashing, though as mentioned prior, this is cost prohibitive. And no such thing as WG plating...

I have a very sharp, somewhat thin blade that I use to wedge between the link. Once wedged in, I spread the link apart and then follow up with a blunt edged blade to spread them further. I would highly recommend against using something like a razor blade; too brittle and you risk the blade snapping or flinging fragments of a broken blade as a result. Hope this helps! Cheers, R

Essentially, what I did on mine was: TW Best SELs, which I modified by re-surfacing WM9 outer first links (these do not have a ref stamed on them, which would be correct for the model year Sub I built) Noob main links WM9 clasp And if you're interested to see how these things go together, here is one of my WM9 SELs dissected: As for the dial- Simply a matter of removing the dial feet and securing to place. The DW overlay lines right up, as the rep dial has the same date position. I have a gen 295C installed to my case with rep dial and overlay and everything lines up just right... I'd buy that model, no question.

I fit the entire set up on mine (WM9), no problem; retaining ring, washer, click bezel ring and insert. Absolutely no hassle. Even added a gen crystal to boot.

Yes; 7928 is also a good choice, but still very traditional. At any rate, Tudors are pretty easy to build...

7021 and 9411 should have the Cyclope 125; the 7016, 7928 94010 have the Tropic 19. That said, the T-19 is a good replacement on the 7021 and 9411/0 for those who don't want a cyclops...
