  1. If bigger is your thing... Maybe the new 44mm Nautis like the 5980 chronograph might be better suited to taste...
  2. Amazing what a simple set of hands can do for a watch! Great PO's, fellas!
  3. alt.watch... Congrats on finishing up your project! I agree... 2824 is a great fit, and one that I turn to often for these types of frankens. Great fit... Little hassle... Good stuff indeed. Next one I do, I'll probably give stilty's 2892 suggestion a go... I especially like how that caliber fills up the case. Please post some pics of your project! All the best... R
  4. I must admit... Sometimes I feel a little stagnated; but it's more to do with my general interest in watches than what's going on with the forum. There's always something to discuss, and I do so enjoy posting amongst friends
  5. I ain't exactly a PAM guy... But I could become one... I'd probably be down for one!
  6. Going slightly off topic here... I think we need to get another Mile High GTG coordinated. TT, Rocket.... What say you guys?
  7. Ahhhh... The IWC. Yeah... I think I need to add that one to my list as well... That was a great watch...
  8. Tony, That's my point. The watch you have is very nice, yes... But posting on a well known gen forum and getting offers to buy the watch? Veteran members and collectors know what to look for... They have to... Otherwise, they risk parting with large sums of money for a misrepresented item, which, no one I know really enjoys doing. If I posted my DW with gen parts (which, yes, happens to be the correct 37.1mm diameter, 19mm lugs and asymmetric pushers), I am sure that someone would probably suspect something. Could they specifically identify the problem? Maybe not right away or maybe not without inspecting in person, but the experienced would probably have that gut feeling that something's not quite right.
  9. Somehow... I doubt it. Please post the link.... I'd love to see that thread...
  10. <- Definitely jealous!! I think I might have to pull the trigger on the Nauti Jumbo as well... Expect an email soon, euno
  11. Went home for lunch... Took the Daytona off and put this one on in it's place... Fish tail... This watch usually serves as my desk clock... But, I figured it's ben a while since I gave it some wrist time...
  12. From my standpoint... I'd personally do the TT 16613. Why? 1) You can still shape the CG's if necessary (on the all gold 16618 you cannot due to the plating) 2) You can easily replace the dial and bezel insert with genuine parts (which are also easily found and usually sell for $400 for the set). 3) Same goes for the crown and tube. 4) It makes for a versatile watch- Just a subtle bit of bling, but not too over the top that you couldn't wear it with casual clothes as well as smart business attire. TT is not typically my style... But if I was going to do a Sub with Gold, that would be my choice...
  13. a few weeks back, kruzer stopped into town and we had dinner; it was at this time that I had the opportunity to see this watch in person; ... And there is no doubt in my mind that the dial is genuine. BTW, falco... You did a great job on this watch. Very well done!
  14. Heh... R11co... I do sometimes miss the Ti Seawolf... But, it was just way too large for my wrist. Had it been a more proportionate watch for me... I would have no doubt kept it Still... It is one of those nice, rare pieces that seldom comes around... A nice collectible watch, and highly coveted. One that deserves wrist time... As well as a great owner who will appreciate it. I have no doubts that it went to the right person... And no regrets on that one at all, my friend Cheers!
  15. I know that we've all, at some point, sold a watch that initially thought would not be missed, but looking back wish it were still in the watch box. For me... I have a few... Old TW Best AP Royal Oak Nick Faldo (15190) Frankenstein 7928 Tudor Sub 2893 GMT PAM29 All I have left to remember these are old pics... Anyone else have old memories to share?
  16. I wear one of these (if not both) pretty much all the time, regardless of what I'm doing... However- I won't wear either if I'm detailing our cars (for obvious reasons), or if we're swimming, in which case I wear this one: My favorite diver
  17. Regardless of version- There are no good 116520 Daytona reps around. I've had 7 of these over the past few years sicne the secs @ 6:00 debuted (yes, I was one of the dummies who paid $1k+ for one when they came out); thick, thin, bad dials, good dials.... But now... I own none (only my EP400's and V23 6265). Why? They just don't compare... 116509 Old pics... Their quality dates them
  18. Not wanting to hijack the thread too badly, but here are some (reposted) pics I took comparing a Secs/6:00 116520 (with mod 7750) to my gen cased El Primero 400 frankenstein (16520)... As rags mentioned, the rep is significantly thicker than it's genuine counterpart... The bezel, case and caseback all add a hefty, chunky look to the watch. Gen case/rehaut: Rep case/rehaut: It's funny that we always complain about shallow rehauts on the 16610 Subs, yet here on this watch, the deep rehaut is what I'd do without Gen case profile: Rep case profile: The profile of the rep case looks like it's a little bloated... And a comparo from the top... The 116520 rep has one of the nicer dials I've seen... And as mentioned prior, the finish and quality of these watches are quite nice. It's a heavy mofo... Heavier than a gen 16622 Rolesium Yacht-Master... And, it's got some presence on the wrist.
  19. The El P Daytonas are just so much fun to build... The challenge of finding the parts is what makes it so enjoyable (and sometimes a little nerve racking)...
  20. Tuesday! Vintage and modern... Left wrist- Right wrist-
  21. Great collection! I myself would like to see the AP's a bit more...
  22. You can always change the movement out with an ETA 2836. All you need then are some hands (90/150/25); the datewheel overlay transfers over just fine, and the tube/stem lines up perfect. I did one for a friend of mine sometime ago...
  23. Hee hee... Yeah, sometimes I do switch things up a bit... Shocking, I know Happy Tuesday!
  24. Fantastic Aqua, euno. I'd like to get one to keep my other Patek company
  25. Yeah... A bit predictable... Wut can I say?
