  1. Frankly, I'm a little surprised the thread has survived as long as it has...
  2. Believe me... I certainly don't mind the fact that you have taken the time to thoroughly service and overhaul my El Primeros and VJ23! It's good peace of mind for me... Knowing that everything was cleaned and oiled properly, mainspring changed, etc., parts inspected for wear/damage and so forth... Is your way the right way? Well... For me, yes, it is. As we both know, the EP400/3019 is an odd creature, and there are some graphite lubricated points that shouldn't be cleaned (as per Zenith). So, the only way to properly do the job is to tear everything down... Replace the barrel/mainspring as recommended, and lubricate with the correct oils... So... For your expertise and knowledge, I am willing to pay more, and willing to wait a few days longer for completion. Knowing that my movements have been thoroughly gone over, inspected (and signed off with a clean bill of health) is worth the price of admission in my eyes...
  3. It would be inevitable for some replicas to land in pawn broker's hands... To mitigate this risk, they'd have to employ someone who is an expert in every brand. Since watches are probably a smaller portion of overall inventory (compared to jewelry, electronics, guns, or whatever else they deal in- Some here even deal in cars, boats, recreational motor vehicles, etc), there is good chance that not all items can be validated properly. To put it in perspective- There are some secondary market watch dealers who sometimes also get taken, only because it's difficult to be on top of every brand and watch model out there (and watches are all they deal with). So... Buyer beware... And absolutely- Seller beware! Karma has a funny way of coming back to bite one in the ass, and the pawnbroker's recovery team is probably not a group of individuals one wants to meet with face to face...
  4. I thought it was a roller coaster on Magic Mountain?
  5. Excellent work from 2 of RWG's best! All the watches look fantastic... But that SMP looks especially nice! HD... Is that one of your frankens?
  6. Hey gang... So... Where do I sign up for some vintage Heuers??
  7. Have to agree... The Constellation is a great piece. Always receive compliments when I wear mine...
  8. Great job on the 'Gauss, M!! Looks fantastic!
  9. Modern or vintage? I'd suggest going with genuine... The look/appearance of gen parts is unrivaled. These parts will cost a little more than their aftermarket counterparts, but they are definitely worth it... Vintage/1680/1665/5513 Modern/16610
  10. A 16610 bracelet (93150/non-SEL and 93250/SEL) should be brushed (vertical).
  11. The infamous 913/ff collection! Some very nice, very choice examples! Extremely drool worthy! But... The 1911 BTR stand out the most (at least to me). What a gorgeous timepiece... So... I have to ask... Which one gets the most wrist time?
  12. Heh heh... I think Maradona is also maybe a teensy weensy bit eccentric... But... Back on topic... reelamore... Now that you've finished this beauty... What's next?? I know you have some interesting things planned...
  13. I have it on good authority that servicing a tourbillon is not for the average watchmaker, or the feint of heart. That tourbillon cage is very touchy... Very delicate, and very difficult to assemble. Not just anyone can do this kind of work...
  14. Gave this old thing some wrist time yesterday... Today... I'm thinking this one... And then... Back to the Cosmo twins...
  15. Hiya gang! Not wanting to hijack reelamore's post too much... Yeah... My center seconds hands are slightly off- The white is slightly after 12:00 and the black is slightly before 12:00. I don't really mind, however... Maybe the next time I crack the cases open, I'll center them up, but for now they don't bother me enough to justify taking everything apart to correct... BTW... My pair are daily beaters... I alternate every other day, but admit to wearing both at the same time (one on each wrist) some days. My co-workers find it amusing... But they know I'm slightly eccentric as well...
