  1. Great mods, Euno! Amazing the difference a crystal can make!!
  2. These are fantastic! And the skills and talents showcased truly remarkable! There is an artistry in the world of horlogerie that I fear may be a dying breed... CNC and machines are producing more for less, but without the character and personal touch that the human hand can achieve... BTW... The 'Dressing the Watch' clip is (in my opinion) required viewing. Neat to see how they produce a Panerai dial...
  3. I've been dreaming of this one for several years now... I've resigned myself to the fact that the only way I'll have one is to buy a gen... Which I'll probably end up doing sooner or later...
  4. @RT... Hmmmmmm... Please, please... Do tell I do have an MBK Nauti en route... But who's to say I don't want... More?
  5. Gorgeous! Gorgeous! Gorgeous! Can't wait to get mine!!!
  6. Thanks, wadan! I picked up the blue dial... Kinda hard to capture the color/irridescence in these pics; I'll try to get some in the sunlight So far I'm lovin' mine (and I'm sure you're loving yours as well)
  7. Watch in the auction pics looks legit... But there's still no guarantee that the seller is! As with anything... Always best to do lots of research on a high dollar item... And if it's too good to be true... Well, you know it probably is...
  8. 22-MAY-2007 Hey gang... Just getting a head start on the midweek wrist check... Today I have on my new-to-me MBK Royal Oak Jumbo. It's basically the same as the old TW Best piece... And yes, it has gold color screws (which don't actually bother me) and a few other small flaws that I can live with. As anyone who has ever seen one of these in person can attest- This is an exquisite piece. Very well executed and nice finish. The feel is smooth and details precise. To top it all off, the irridescence of the dial is unreal. I love it! Only modification that I have made to date was to remove one of the permanent links on the 6:00 side of the bracelet. This was done to eliminate some binding while on the wrist (subsequently an extra removable link was added to the 12:00 side to allow the clasp to sit flat against the bottom of my wrist). The process in removing the permanent link is bit stressful as there's really no room for error, and the possibility of runing my new toy was imminent... However, I got it taken care of A couple of extras... Kind of a nice change to the usual...
  9. On a Unitas 6497, there is a small set screw on the back plate that is in close proximity to the stem. This screw needs to be unthreaded a few turns (but not completely) and the stem/crown can be pulled from the movement. Once you have the stem/crown out, you can pin-vice it and unthread the crown. I'll try and see if I can dig up pics of said set screw... Though I bet someone will probably beat me to it...
  10. 2824/2836/2846/2892 etc. etc. should all carry the 90/150/25 sized pinions for hands. It's the common size for most ETAs within the 28xx line.
  11. D- Now THAT'S how to do a great watch!! Here's to childhood dreams becoming reality... Cheers, R
  12. Congrats! The dial, insert and pearl all hold a special place in my heart (as they once were a part of my 1680, long ago)... Great 1680! You're on quite the MBW roll these days Stephane!
  13. I don't think the continuous running of the stopwatch has any detriment on power reserve...
  14. Vintage Omega Seamaster300 165-024- Genuine and all original from 1967... MBW 1665- Modded with lots of gen goodies... DW 6265 frankenstein- V23 transplanted and modded with gen parts
  15. rofl.... QC?? What QC?? BTW... That clasp is a keeper... Likely to become one of those anomaly collector's items...
  16. Jumbie- That Rolex DateJust is a TW Best custom... River and EL were sourcing these, and I believe they can still get them.
  17. Gorgeous pair of PAMs, W! Quite possibly the best 29 and 63 combo I've ever seen! Can we get a full break down of mods done to those bad boys?
  18. Ludo... Seeing this watch brings back old (I say old, but in reality, only a couple years from when we first got our DW's) memories... A much less complicated time for reps... This watch made some big excitement when they were discovered (thanks to you). The feeling of nostalgia is an interesting thing...
  19. Amazing stuff... Rob, you haven't just restored the watch... You've granted it a new life... And the history of the timepiece can now live on for generations to come. This is the kind of stuff that one can't put a price tag on...
  20. You know Doc... I've always fancied Genta's Royal Oak... But it's taken me some time to warm up to the Nautilus. It has been a watch that I became intrigued with, though the styling has always been a little... Awkward. After having mulled the idea around a bit, and with a generous gift from a fellow forum member, I have really come to appreciate the Nautilus as well; enough so that getting one of these exquisite MBK Jumbos has really rekindled my interest in watches in general (as well as another incoming Genta designed piece that I am eager to receive). As much as I love Rolex... I find myself looking to fill some other slots in my watch box of more obscure nature... A little balance to the collection, per se...
  21. What is this 'Entourage' that you gents speak of? EDIT: Nm... I just Google'd it and the answers set forth...
  22. Same here... Just couldn't resist temptation any longer...
