  1. For some reason, after a week of Tudors I felt this one calling to me!
  2. Glad you're out of the "slammer" and here's wishing you a speedy recovery!
  3. A month ago I bought my wife a gen Tudor Princess Oysterdate for her birthday but the gen band was waaay too small so I stuck a rep Ladies Datejust band on it. Finally, with the help of a RepGeek Bro., I was able to put the watch back into all gen condition. I acquired another almost identical Tudor folded link bracelet and was able to make one properly sized bracelet by mixing and matching links from both bands. The wife really likes the slinky way the folded link band feels and says it gives the watch more "character". Thanks for looking...
  4. I was able (under microscope) to measure dimension "E" (page 13) as 1.60 mm so reading across to the left I guess I need hour wheel with height of 1.56 mm! Of course, Jules Borel lists most of the hour wheels at $4.60 for three or more but THIS one is $6.40! At Cousins it's less than half that which will more than make up for the postage. Is it safe to assume that the "spring washer" comes with the wheel?
  5. Thanks, Zig! When measuring the cannon pin is it's height measured from the top of the small gear, top of large gear, or the entire assembly? Looking at the tech sheet I think I've got it figured out...
  6. Hmmm, there's so many, but this is related (sorta) to one of Lani's: "Badgers? Badgers? We don't need no steenkin' badgers! UHF
  7. R - Yeah. The seller has already made an "adjustment" for the cost of hour wheels but every one is missing. I have gotten movements from ofrei that ship with the hour wheel and washer not installed. The seller seemed surprised and distressed that they were ALL missing and I am getting the impression that when he checked all of the ones he had on hand were in like condition.
  8. Master Hack, maybe, but thank you. I'm still learning this whole watch thing in real life I make what amounts to very large pipe bombs...
  9. I have some ETA 2671 movements that are missing hour wheels. I looked at cousins and discovered there are about 4-5 different height hour wheels! How do I determine which one I need? I'm assuming I need to measure the canon pinion height and maybe subtract the thickness of the gear on the bottom of the hour wheel or...
  10. +2 on cluttered and hate it in person. Glad I only bought a $50 one...
  11. LH, I was just thinking about that, it didn't really strike me until I posted the profile views! I'll probably grind them down to more follow the general profile of the end-links
  12. I have no watches with straps, I personally don't like straps, but this one just looks right!
  13. After a suggestion from alligoat I ordered a pair of lumed Dauphine style hands from ofrei and decided on a black sweep hand after looking at tons of pics. I "gently aged" the case and also brushed out the old dead lume and slathered on some Glow, Inc., V10 lume. I can now see it in the dark but I'm a bit disappointed in the V10 stuff but the hands are like a beacon... Here is a "ingredient list" and some final pics. 1 - Vintage Tudor no-date Oyster dial (flea-bay) 1 - 34mm a21j Tudor Prince Oysterdate for case and crown (unapproved vendor) 1 - Clark 25-12 crystal (flea-bay) 1 - ETA 2783 movement (flea-bay) 1 - Dauphine style lumed hour hand (ofrei) 1 - Dauphine style lumed minute hand (ofrei) 1 - Black sweep hand (ofrei) 1 - Smooth bezel (homebrew) 1 - ETA 2783 stem (Jules Borel) 1 - Movement ring/spacer (homebrew) 1 - Dial/rehaut spacer (homebrew) What better place for a Tudor to rest... Back to a more mundane background...
  14. Looks good enough to eat! Mmmmm, "Count Chocula"!

    The Abyss

Geeze, this has left Brian speechless!
  16. Yeah, she might mis-hear me and think I said "tart funds"! I'm running out of places to hide watches...
  17. Hmmm, looks tasty! I wish I hadn't already spent my stipend - I need to ask wife.gov for a raise...
  18. Still wearing the old Vintage Tudor.

    The Abyss

Has very high "coolness factor"! I love ideas that were thought up "outside the box".
  20. I'm fairly happy about the way my vintage Tudor turned out but the dial just looked out of place in a nice new shiny case! Today I decided to attempt to rectify that issue. I don't belong to the "toss it out in the driveway and run over it with the truck for a few days" camp, rather I like an aged watch to look like a well cared for old watch with a nice crystal. Today I made attempt number one at putting some "dignified" age on the case and bracelet. I stuck a piece of duct tape over the crystal, put a heavy leather glove on my hand, put the watch onto my fist, and mashed the watch into a 5 gallon bucket of lathe chips so put some lite random scratching on the case and band. This bucket is full of mostly 303 stainless shavings. Since this swarf is about the same hardness as the case it doesn't gouge it, just leaves some light scratching. After the swarf treatment I then buffed the case with a green Scotch-Brite followed by 0000 steel wool. I think I've accomplished my goal of winding up with some light somewhat hard to see scratching and dulling down the overall sheen. The dial no longer looks out of place with this case and band, although I do think I'm going to dull the band a bit more.
  21. I think I posted a tutorial about changing a tube and I have a "fat" 7mm crown/tube set you can have...
  22. Hmmm, what else is up Uber-Ubi's sleeve...
  23. I figured I'd give this some wrist time to make sure the movement worked OK and kept "wound" properly. So far, after a day, it's dead on as far as time-keeping...
  24. Just ordered a set of luminous gold dauphine style hands and a black sweep hand.
  25. Yes, the markers seem to be identical on that watch so I'll look around for some hands that are similar to that. Seems I've seen some on ofrei close to that style. Thanks for the link to that one. I kinda like this old 2783. It has a very strong easily heard "tick" and so far it's keeping perfect time. I just wish it hacked...
