  1. This is the one I have: http://www.gnomonwatches.com/product-detail.asp?pid=866
  2. Not swimming but if I wuz I might be wearing something like this...
  3. I wuz too lazy to drill 'em so I figured I'd try to slide it through as a "later" model...
  4. I was looking through the watch box and realized I didn't have anything with a Jubilee Bracelet! Well, that just will not do... I had snagged a rough gray sunburst gen DJ dial for "just in case" and this predicament was the "just in case" I was looking for. I dug out an old rep case, a 2836, and a new rep Jubilee and went to work. The dial, from anything over a foot, looks pretty nice but on close-ups various stains show up and the tritium bumps that still remain are pretty much black. Probably at some later date I'll scrape off the rest and put some dots of more modern lume on it. Here's the pics...
  5. I have no idea, maybe. If you want to go from scratch I may have a couple cases and I can measure what size dial fits.
  6. EMS <> Registered Registered is just First Class with some extra handling safeguards and delivery confirmation.
  7. You say no Rollex so maybe a 34mm Tudor? It would fit a smaller wrist perfectly... I guess I would have what is maybe considered a "normal" wrist in that all tghe reps I've bought fit perfectly with no adjusting.
  8. No, that case now lives somewhere in England. This case was machined "from scratch" out of a chunk of 316L...
  9. A little bit of fantasy for today...
  10. I don't know if a DJ II takes a bigger dial or not, I don't have one to check... It would be larger than the Jumbo but it has possibilities if the dial would fit. I know what you mean about cheap, I thought I had stolen these dials (4 for $75) until I started trying to find a case...
  11. kiplin - You may be screwed! I just took some measurements and a 30mm Tudor dial is meant for a 38mm Jumbo case like the following: The 36mm DJ case takes a dial about 28mm, the "standard" 34 Tudor case takes a dial a bit larger than 27mm, while the "mid-size" 31mm case takes a dial around 25.5mm. That said, it is a nice looking dial and I wish you luck finding a Jumbo case. I have a couple more of the gen dials used in the watch pictured that need cases if you find a stash of 'em.

    DJ Face-lift

krp - When I first got into reps I didn't like/wear anything that didn't have CGs and I have now just about did a 180. I really hate the "big" (over 40mm) watches and to me nothing looks dorkier that a skinny wrist with a huge watch hanging over both sides - sorry! I don't have skinny wrists but I am drawn toward the elegant simplicity and "stealth" of the under 40mm group

Thanks, M, I like it in this case/crystal/bezel than in the sapphire case.

    DJ Face-lift

I have a source in China that I buy rep parts from.
  15. I recently scored a great gen engine-turned bezel on flea-bay and told my wife I was going to have to build a new watch around it. Her response was, "Nice bezel, are you serious!!??" That was followed by one of those "I should have you committed" stares... I decided it reasonable (and prudent) to compromise since I could find no valid argument to rebut her claim that I was unlikely to wear more than one at a time. Since the bezel was for a plexi crystal I decided to transfer my dial to a different case with lug holes. Last time I ordered cases my supplier told me he had DJ cases specifically for 2824 movements so I ordered a few because I figured the stem height should be a bit closer to gen. I did verify that just transferring across the then current 2836/dial combo did indeed put the stem in a serious bind so I swapped the dial and hands over to a 2824. I then drilled lug holes in the rep case, installed the proper Clark crystal, and pressed home the new bezel - it looked fantastic! I have a gen crown laying around somewhere and will install it whenever I find it. Someday I'll find a reasonably priced gen case but for now I think this will do nicely.
  16. Yeah, the TOG has a considerable "cool factor"! Every time I think about getting rid of mine I wind up wearing it for a few days...
  17. I bought one of the a21j Black Dial from Silix about a year ago and it is NOT wokky...
  18. This will be an Air-King weekend...
  19. Back to "small" for today...
