  1. Anyone in the EU can do this? I need the lume dots (well, 2 of them) replacing on a MQ PN dial. I guess they're not really "lume" either but just something that looks like old Tri. @ OP - Love the RS in your profile pic, most fun car i've ever driven!
  2. Be wary that now they're getting pretty cheap they are being bought by people who are more likely to skimp on service and maintenance costs or who can't afford to spend the £££ necessary to keep them in top condition. Tyres are a good indicator - if it's not got matching premium brand rubber on every corner anymore then the owner isn't looking after the rest of the car either.
  3. 7835 can be cheaper. I've got a full length one I don't need if you're interested.
  4. The bracelet is the sticking point. None of the rep one's are that good. The WM9 one is the best but still not great imo.You have to treat it very carefully to keep it looking good. It picks up scratches very easily. The wrap is good but there's only so many times you can polish it. The WM9 bezel is also not that good. You need to replace it with a solid 18K rep bezel or a gen one imo. The TC case + gen bezel, dial, crystal, crown etc mentioned above is the way to go if you want to build from scratch but you'll still be stuck for a bracelet unless you like the strapped look.
  5. That's DW. I just ordered and received some hands from him this week. Next week maybe I wouldn't be so lucky.
  6. It would fool most people most of the time if the watch "fitted" the image of someone who'd have a gen. Don't see the point of keeping one as a safe queen though. It's not a rare vintage piece, hard to replace or a delicate dress watch.
  7. Yes the Blue insert is awesome too. You get the feeling though that Phillip probably has a bucket of Mk1 inserts just lying around Let the dissenters commence
  8. http://www.network54.com/Forum/207593/message/1404916265/The+%26quot%3BPan+Am%26quot%3B+Rolex+Cosmograph+Daytona... As someone on VRF says.......for sure they coolest Daytona ever.
  9. Mayer has some "Mayer dial" PN's, named after him by the WIS's on VRF. Rolex do not say these are fake dials (neither do they say they are genuine though) but a lot of vintage Rolex WIS types do say they are fake. Mayer has offered to buy any PN Daytona with a Mayer dial from any collector who has one but thinks the Mayer dials are fake for a high value ($60K springs to mind)....none have taken him up on this afaik. These are not the watches he bought from Robert Maron that are now part of his legal action - they are different references that Rolex do say have fake parts on. For info on the dials just search on TRF, VRF etc.....pages of discussion and argument. In a nutshell if they are fake they're pretty much perfect other than them being 3-C-ROC instead of 3-C-RCO. Obviously a lot of debate around this....why make a perfect fake dial but with a reference that supposedly doesn't exist for example. I haven't looked at the one on Ebay closely enough yet to compare to a confirmed Mayer dial but at first glance it does look like one.
  10. Yes all true, the mystery continues. And of course Rolex do not say the dials are fake and we know how carefree they are about declaring parts as fake as Mayer found out on some of his other watches. How much did Mayer day he would pay for any Mayer dial PN's? Could be money to be made if the one on Ebay is a true Mayer dial
  11. No, if it is a true Mayer dial then that's the whole problem, they're really, really good. Mayers whole argument is basically who'd make such a good fake dial but then only make a handfull of them and then completely disappear and never make any more or any other similar dials.
  12. Yes the big books always look great until you see the price! I guess a Mk1 or Mk2 would suit a 6263 PN as they're similar but unless you could confirm that they also had Mk3 from new the Mk3 would stand out as not period correct.
  13. Interesting, thanks, i'll stick with the fat torpedo hands then. Just need to know how quickly they progressed from Mk1 -> 2 -> 3 bezels really now!
  14. Hey guys, I'm curious as to the progression of bezels on 6263 PN's. What years/serials did they move from Mk1, to Mk2, to Mk3 bezels? Also, what about the sub-dial hands.....did they start with the thin hands and then switch to the fatter one's or vice versa......or was it random fitment? Thanks!
  15. Very interesting. Considering the relatively small number of say V72 626X cases that must be in demand compared to say rep Sub cases it makes sense that there is not 3 or 4 actual producers (I won't say "factories" as we know that is not true) of these.
  16. Aw man, I bought a "gen" 702 and tube from Ebay and it turned out to be an Athaya one, sorry I let it go a little while ago
  17. And here it is after getting it back from fitting today
  18. Ordered, paid by wire and delivered from Viet to UK in 2 days via UPS a cpl weeks ago. He even sent a second delivery of hands UPS cause he forgot them the first time.
  19. Site still working fine for me. Bought a PN dial and handset from him a cpl weeks ago, everything as described and as per pics, 2 day delivery via UPS.
  20. Ditto the above, good all original one's of these have been up for $7K+ from the usual suspects on TRF/VRF lately. Even average one's make $5k easy.
  21. Just ordered this bezel. Looks like great rep of a Mk1. Thanks to fabioliveri for the info!
  22. That bezel isn't bad. Got a link to the dealer please? Can't find any seller on Ebay called Darja Do you have a pic of the side profile please?
