  1. I had the old batch with a new bacth dial and a GEN ETA movement with standard deleted second hand (i forget the movement number) and a new date wheel too. Was without doubt the best rep of these i've seen.
  2. Yeah, i hoped that after sending the Alaska back to Omega 3 times and them having it for 9 months in total it would be ok, but it wasn't. Then i hoped an entire new watch/package would sort it...but that was broken today too. I even bought an Apollo 40th edition in the middle of it all too...which was broken and they couldn't repair it when they said they could. Washing my hands of them now. Never again. Sold all my Speedys (standard, Snoopy, and Cal321) to a dealer a few weeks ago as i was so disgusted with the brand. I was gonna keep the new Alaska as it would obviously appreciate in value hugely in the next few years, but even the thought of it in my safe gathering dust was too much to bear so the AD is sending me a cheque/refund tomorrow now. The only Speedmaster i never had any bother with was my Cal321 model which was faultless and i cannot sing it's praises enough, it was a lovely watch
  3. Yes, there has been a big swing towards people buying vintage DJ's this year already. The people i know who move a lot of them are selling a lot more, and also finding that they can realise higher prices.
  4. You were right about the tracking. Unless you use an courier, adding tracking actually slows down the delivery and adds to the risk. It's always quicker to ship without tracking when sending from a decent Western country to another. I think you made a mistake by not describing the package as watches though. They all still get X-rayed and a package with 3 watches in described as something else is going to get attention/opened - it's obviously got something to hide. It's best to declare it as a gift with description of "Used watch for parts" or along those lines and not send more than 1 watch per package. When you say surface mail, do you mean not airmail, as in by boat? If so it could take a ridiculously long time so there may be hope yet when you combine this with the UK strikes (maybe).
  5. I've just received my 6th new Omega since 2002 at my AD today. It was broken and faulty. Just like the other 5 were. So that's about $35,000 i've spent on new Omega's and NOT ONE of them has been any good. Fuming? Yes. Was really looking forward to picking it up today, now i'm gutted....yet again. Also got a 5513 from VDB and my Pepsi GMT back from modding with Domi though this week so they are cheering me up a bit...
  6. Actually, sadly i won't be posting any pics The brand new watch/box/set supplied by Omega was once again faulty. That's 6/6 brand new Speedmasters from Omega faulty from new for me now since 2002. They are lovely watches when they work but Omega can no longer make them properly and without fault. They cannot repair them either. They are utterly useless. If you want a Speedmaster don't whatever you do buy a new one, it will simply be a useless POS. Get a nice old vintage one instead and save yourself a lot of bother and trouble. My AD has told me they have had 3 other cases/customers with the same experience(s) as me in the last month alone too.
  7. I've purchased a few gens in the last few years. All useless and broken from new. I'm actually picking up my "new" Alsaka tomorrow. The one i bought this time last year fell to bits and kept breaking (i only actually had it for 3/12 months, the rest of the time it was back at Omega being "repaired") so they've given me a whole new one/package. We'll see how this one goes.... I'll post some pics tomorrow.
  8. Visually the differences are not so good shock protection on the asian and less teeth on the reduction wheel. Some might say that the Asian isn't as smooth either, but on a vintage watch that may be a good thing. The Asian won't be regulated or lubricated as well from new of course. A handy pic guide from BK
  9. Good work, looking swish. I've also joined the no-date club this week but can't claim to have done any of the work myself
  10. If you can make a cheap watch look that good, i want to see some pics you take of the expensive ones
  11. Good advice ^^^ above. Swiss ETA DJ's are only about $200 from dealers and they can get you any combination of dial, bezel, bracelet etc that you could want. Also, there are loads of gen dials on Ebay, see what takes your fancy if you're prepared to do some work...
  12. I live in the middle of nowhere, further from the phone exchange than Broadband/DSL is claimed to be able to work and where cable services will never be laid. My speed is measured in Kb's, not Mb's. South Korea has the fastest internet.
  13. How can he have such good taste with the 6263 above, but such bad with the Gaytona there I'm imagining the blue dial 6263 on a blue stiched black leather strap...mmmmmmmm......
  14. Other than in NahPiek you won't find any decent reps being retailed to the public in Bangkok.
  15. That's what i thought. Here's a unit with 7753 Visably much further apart.
  16. Do you know if the sub dial spacing is the same on the 7753 as the EP400, or are they further apart/not as tightly grouped?
  17. I bought the 40th anniv, but returned it as is was broken and Omega couldn't fix it. Was gonna get the Solar impulse but am put off by the unreliable butchered Piaget movement. Also it hardly seems like a 44mm watch, it wears the same as a normal speedy, plus it's about $1000 over priced. Nice to look at - awful to own.
  18. Nice, there was another 1530 on there that sold for $500 last week too.
  19. Why swap? I thought the 2678 was to allow the correct crown height that 2824 and 2836 do not?
  20. Not that i know of. That's based on the modders/repairers on RG though....maybe there are others on here that do it?
  21. Is that GEN or a franken?
  22. I've never bothered to look for watches when i go to the 'Dam. Hope you have fun whatever you do If you haven't got a hotel booked yet, do stay in the Grand Hotel Krasnapolsky on 'Dam square...nothing else in the centre really compares
