I'm more curious for pics of the best looking guy in this fourm...

I did post a glimpse of me in a pic..I didnt want a full on pic as it would have been too much too soon for you guys...

But the mods and admin all agreed it would be better if I removed it as it was unfair to all you guys on here....and the internet in general as if anyone doing a search might end up seeing the pic and that could cause shock waves across the world..

So to avoid that Admin decided that to ensure that if I never posted a pic of myself that he would give me a 50 % discount...on top of that when explaining that discount to me he realised just how great I was at maths and offered me an additional 80% discount on top of the other discount.... so overall I am paying just over $500 a month...

Which is a 165% discount off the normal price I would pay...so I am pleased..as Admin was so kind and helpful in giving me such a great deal... but he knew he couldnt pull the wool over my eyes as I am a superlative mathematician and I know my numbers....

It is or certainly was more common an issue in the past..I have heard of it less of late...but it is one reason guys always say service your rep when you get it...as you may avoid a little damage or poor craftsmanship making things even worse...

I think what many forget is that when we ask for a Swiss ... we dont always get what we pay for.... now most time this aint the dealers fault... unless they offer to check and even for them to tell sometimes they have to break the watch open and strip..which of course they wont !

The reason is that in some cases when getting a Swiss what you are actually getting is a hybrid of a Swiss... it is not what you would get out of a sealed ETA bag.... its the chinese version and with that you carry the risk of it being a mix and match of Swiss and Clone and maybe even not a Swiss at all... I had one just the other day that was on an ETA base plate but most of the innards were clone...yet it was from a watch advertised as a full Swiss...

Then you need to add into that the fact that these guys literally throw them together from a box of parts...I sh*t you not......

The fact guys say ... I have had these for years and never had a problem is either not quite as accurate as it sounds (as that statement relies on many factors to be actually valid) or the guy has been extremely lucky

It doesnt surprise me mate to be honest and I am not sure if it is happening less or is not being reported as much etc.... but it was the reason most guys here would always say get it serviced when you get it if you can..so as to avoid damage being made worse by a gearing issue etc... I know sometimes it can come that bad anyway but it is prudent for any watch you intend to keep and also underlines when buying a watch the value...the true value of a service...

BUT if you are paying more for a service be careful...check who did it? Do you know of them? What exactly was done? As sometimes a service is just a strip and clean and oil... which means you still have some crap parts possibly in the movement... someone like Zig would replace parts he thought needed it but most watch smiths wont do that unless you ask specifically.. s dont assume a service is all it cracks itself up to be... some guys even pseudo service themselves so it is important to check that the extra you pay for a serviced watch is worth it

I got caught myself a few weeks back on a watch being sold as serviced.... It was in [censored] order and the guy had paid £160 for it to be serviced and the thing was dirty and parts glued in etc ..It was a s*hite job... I am not sure who did it now but it was a UK watch smith as seller was Brit on RWI ... he wasnt to know but blimey with all the other issues I wish i hadnt bought the damn thing !!...I did get a partial refund but it still doesnt cover the issues I inherited in it let alone the time I will need to spend on it...even the lugs were glued in... no screws nothing... and again all that I think was from the guy who serviced it... !!

So on top of that ... watch who you get to service your reps ... Alex at UKwatchservices is a good guy and most importantly he knows his limitations which is a good sign..an dhis comms is good.. he is not a modder though just servicing and general watch services..

Going back to the point though its also like using the date etc or other dont's during certain times etc on Clone stuff ... The most times the gearing teeth cant take it...

It certainly wouldnt work for me mate...as each reply is specific to the member..

for example I get a 50% discount for being the best looking guy on the forum...

They are all well known strap makers, I have used them all and been well chuffed with results and thier straps are great value (not budget) if you contact them direct they can do all you ask..the only thing to agree is the leather... I think Ricard had some brandy brown leather in stock...

But everything else you ask for can be done by any maker mate.... of course one guy i forgot to mention is Devilseam another member here but i dont know his price range mate..

There are so many mate...the options for strap makers are endless... just look on Risti to see all the great strap makers plus there are so many deals going on for Black friday specials..

I think if it were me I would look to BB an SS version and give it that Ti look...assuming you dont also want the weight reduction too

I dont know if its just me or maybe the finishing techniques of the film but that caseset looks to be different... everso slightly ...I wonder if it has been refined/tweeked but i can see some slight differences or is it just the film or even my eyes !!???

I would say wrist size can be deceptive. I have a smaller wrist but I'm a larger frame guy so I can pull off a 48mm no problems!

Apart from my total agreement with my learned colleague above in the matter of advice ..I would also add that the best advice I could give you would be to get some glasses....

As for advice to others reading this...dont bother opening links ...

personal choice mate.... I never bother... as even after it dont take much to undermine it generally

On another note ..be very gently with the quick date change.... if you can... avoid using it... they are reknowned for breaking and you wont fix it.... I think someone like Domi can make it more robust as long as its still working...

If you water proof then get that Quick change function sorted first as best you can .. as if you dont you will have wasted your money on WP

Its a personal choice but my advice is unless you want to keep them dont go to dealer wait for a cheaper priced one on the m2m sales...these dont resell well .... and you will lose money..

Also be careful not to choose one that actually is just an exposed movement...

The high price reflects the chinese psuedo tourbillon movement only not the quality of the watch necessarily...so do research if you are considering..check out sales threads and general discussions

A pucker tourbillon on a gen starts around $30K on the cheapest gen brands...though seagull do some nice ones starting for around $2000

There is a sticky thread in this section that lists some basic PAM words and terms that might be useful  mate....  Have a look and read...

Fiddy is slang word for fifty...which in turn refers to the style of case first seen in the Vendome era on the 127 which had "1950" on its dial and used a fifties style case..hence Fiddy, it was an homage to the classic vintage PAMs of the fifties and sixties..

MM refers to the destro (left handed) version of the 127 which was the 217...it is sometimes called the Marina Militare again it is on its dial it also has a fifties case and is an homage by OP to the vintage PAMs of the fifties/sixties hence why both have REG TM on the CG as this was first designed and Trademarked in the early fifties... (Basically )

Mods on these 187s vary but generally the common one is to redo the pearl and lume the hands to match the gen.... the rep hand and markers match but on the gen they are different colours (basically )

I thought it might be useful to do a quick update of some expected new PAMs coming in the near future... Please add any you also know of and I can add it or we can just rely on reading all posts..I dont mnd..

There are a few that are just out...

ZF maker has released several updated 300 series PAMs like 312, 351, and GMT versions... more are coming...

KW is doing the same and has released a few too like 351, 312 etc

ZF has just released a new rep of the 389

They are also releasing a new upgraded version of the 305 and around CNY a 382... I would also expect to see some of the 47 sub variants coming out too as it seems logically but i dont know for sure on that...

The Noob 243 could make a return in early next year..they are saying it might but not confirmed

Noob has just released the 372 to follow the H and the 300 makers...

There is also a 'reasonable' rep of the 422 from the 300 makers...

I also heard distant rumours of a 364 but that is only rumours whereas the above is confirmed but awaiting dates in some cases..

So keep your eyes open and check out the dealers sites for these new reps...

Remember you can buy KW reps from any dealer not just KV and the same with ZF reps...

Angus doesnt sell H maker stuff and Josh and Andrew dont sell Noob stuff...

If you want to discuss specific models say like the latest KW 312 against the ZF 312 ...its probably best to start a new thread..

Surely you're joking. The Ebel 1911 Discovery chronograph is widely regarded as one of the most accurate reps you can buy. The caseback is closed so you can't see the movement. The A7750 is a solid movement, and the gen uses the ETA 7750, which is easily swapped into the rep if you feel the need. I never have, and love the rep.
