  1. And here she is on my wrist. I've fallen in love all over again Specs: Old school MBW case shaved CG's drilled lugs, case aged and He valve mod. Slow beat ETA. MBW rivetted 7206 bracelet with 503B end links gen 2mm springbars. Ingod44 great white rail dial aged and re-lumed. Clarks hands lumed to match. PMWF bezel insert with ofrei illumes dot lumed to match. Brushed steel DW with flat top 3's. Gen tube and gen tall coronet 703 crown. Gen T39 superdome.
  2. I looked at ingod44 but his chapter dial has gilt lettering and I wanted white like the Ian Fleming. Also he is out of stock. I don't like the look of the NDTrading dial at all especially don't like their prices! Does look like I'm pis**ng into the wind then. Oh well not the first time.
  3. I am planning a 1016 build and I would like to replicate this watch: I have a JMB case set with movement ring, a 2824 ETA movement, TC handset. As far as I can see the seconds hand is an issue and of course, the dial. Question is, am I pis**ng into the wind or do I stand a chance of achieving my goal? Any help/suggestions as to where I might source the missing bits of the jigsaw would be greatly appreciated. Happy hallowe'en!
  4. He's not ruling anything out but not in the market for a dress watch. He's a businessman, wants solid, reliable, classy, wear it for any occasion mens watch.
  5. Hello esteemed watch freaks. A good friend of mine is in the market for a new watch. He has been down the rep road with a V72 powered 6263 and he got hacked off with it and broke it down and sold the parts. He has vowed never to own a rep again. I think he is wrong but that's for another debate. Anyway, he's going to shell out $6k (maybe a bit more) and he needs guidance so I thought I'd ask anybody who could be bothered to put their 2 cents in. So - what would you go for? Cheers.
  6. Fantastic. Money well spent.
  7. Cheers lhooq, interesting to know. I've not seen his latest offerings, I've been a little out of the lhoop (chortle chortle).
  8. I agree with sputim. If you can find a good, friendly, local watchsmith you can trust, he's worth his weight in gold. Good luck.
  9. One small point - I'd avoid a DW bezel and rather go for a WatchNY. That 110 spacing is a deal breaker for me. Happy hunting.
  10. Nice story panerai153, Mrs Diesel is no farmer, she's a school teacher so the most abrasive thing she comes across is perhaps a bit of glitter and pva glue so she's got no excuse. Anyway I beat her soundly and she's promised it won't happen again.
  11. Wear schmear - these things are supposed to last aren't they? I mean - the damn thing was only about 40 years old!!!
  12. Thanks Kime I couldn't have done it without you

  15. @ Kime - potentially a good idea. I'm a bit concerned about opening up the little joining link and that one snapping as well. What do you reckon?

  17. Contacted Michael and fix will cost $198. Was rather hoping it would be a little less than that. Anybody else got any bright ideas?
  18. When a man is tired of plexi's - he is tired of life
  19. My wife is quite adept at breaking things. She's had plenty of practise and can definitely class herself as an expert in the field. He latest triumph is the gen 7835 bracelet I bought her and fitted to her gen 1952 semi-bubbleback. Anyway here is a photo of her handywork: It's a 19mm by the way. Any suggestions? Thanks.
  20. Thanks for kind comments people. Now - bracelet suggestions? Come on, let's argue it out!
