  1. Pass me the sick bag!
  2. Jeez! I won, I won! Probably the first raffle I've ever won in my life. Thanks whoop my friday night g&t will taste that much sweeter! Three cheers for the whoopster
  3. Couldn't agree more. That is a cool watch in the true sense of the word. Wear it well and in good health.
  4. Great article. Thanks for the thread! @ Freddy333 care to share the build spec for your Mk 1? I didn't know those 300mph bezels had been repped! Then again I hadn't particularly been looking. I do remember when I worked in a vintage watch dealership in London and being shown an underline Mk 1 'tona, as I recall the co-owner (one Mr N. Urul) was not keen on buying it as it was not an easy piece to sell on which totally concurs with the written article. Can't remember if he bought it or not but I bet it was around £4-5k at the time!
  5. I'd like: 1x 1016 1x 5514 Comex Please
  6. If we're talking about HH's flat tops I'd like four.
  7. Just for clarity's sake, the sub dial spacing on a 7750 Daytona is not correct when compared to the gen/V72 version. The difference is small but noticeable the to the 'trained' eye.
  8. What handset are you using, I'm going from memory but they look great and I need a set for my (budding 1016 build). Cheers.
  9. If you need a pusher shoot me a PM. Bizarrely I've got one spare.
  10. Gen pushers are verrry expensive. Decent replacements are available from Ofrei and Cousins. Talk to the experts about thread sizes though, can be a minefield.
  11. Thanks for help and advices chaps, I've PM'd cc33 to take him up on his kind offer and I'll send the hand to my watchsmith and let him deal with it. He's very experienced and I'm sure he'll fathom it out. Will let you know how it turns out.
  12. He said the previous watchmaker had 'forced it on' somehow and it wouldn't come off without breaking it. He was very scathing about his work. To be honest I don't know what to believe.
  13. I've got a friends V72 powered silver 6263 with my watchsmith and he's had to break the large centre chrono seconds hand to remove the movement for servicing. He is adamant it wasn't his fault and says the watchmaker who assembled the piece was a 'butcher' - but that's another story. Anyway, I need to replace that broken seconds hand and get it to my watchsmith toute suite! Anybody able to sell me one quickly? Odd request I know but if you don't ask - you don't get. Cheers all.
  14. As far as I understand it, and there are much more knowledgeable people round these parts than I,lets start with terminology. There are datewheels and there are datewheel overlays. Two seperate things. A genuine rolex circa 1970's (give or take..) will contain a datewheel,of a certain font and background. If a rep is made today using an eta movement a rolex datewheel will not fit on the eta so the clever chaps on this forum have solved the problem in a couple of ways (to my knowledge - there may be others). One way is to print a thin overlay that can be glued onto an eta datewheel, this overlay would appear more authentic ie like the original rolex datewheel by using the correct font. Another way this has been solved is by removing the print on the eta datewheel and using a transfer to re-apply the date numbers using the period correct font. Hope this makes sense. Experts please feel free to point out any errors I may have made in my explanation (highly likely!) As to the gen datewheels they were made with both white and brushed steel backgrounds.
  15. I'd say you have quite a keen eye. That's a good thing. However, in the rep world if you want to iron out these (some say) minor imperfections you have to spend $$$. Sometimes not huge amounts but the bottom line is, if you want near perfection then get your wallet out, oh, and do your research, that's part of the fun! If you think you'll get near perfection for a couple of hundred bucks then you're going to be sorely disappointed.
  16. Welcome mech500 you're in the right place.
  17. Also note it has correct 7 adjustment holes in the clasp as opposed to the usual (wrong) 6.
  18. Brilliant stuff! Keep up the good work
