  1. thanks. very simply, i used some masking tape to protect the top side of the insert and i used, very sparingly, a light sanding disc on the dremel and bit by bit, slowly sanded down the underside of the insert, stoping after every few pases to check the fit. it definatly took some time, and i practiced first on 2 mbw insertsm which are exceptionally weaker then a gen insert, which was suprisingly strong, even after being thinned out. it was a pretty simple job, just requires some patience and presicion, like any other mod.
  2. Took some time trimming the insert down to fit properly (so there's a slight lip coming up from the bezel) but it turned out great, didnt need any glue, snapped right in firm and snug, they knew what they were doing when then built these tw classics i tell ya! also getting a bit more skilled with the camera. enjoy
  3. i honestly am so appreciative of all of your help here, but i havent the slightest clue on the whole retapping thing. i know that it is increasing the size of the hole on the case and rethreading it, but i dont feel confident enough to do it, makes me kinda nervous.
  4. tube would not screw in on the 1665 mbw case, got stuck about halfway, and then i couldnt get it out, so now that tube is destroyed, even when i heated it, i had to use pliers to get it out. now i'm nervous to try the other tube, dont want that one to get ruined also.....[censored]
  5. do the mbw cases need the retap as well? cause i am doing one of those also for my 1665
  6. how did you all put the new tube in? just with the same file that you used to remove the old one?
  7. c'mon bro, lie to me :) so how do i go about getting the glue to heat up in order to unscrew the tube? and pardon my french, but what the [censored] is a pin vise? do i ever get to stop buying things for these projects?
  8. Big thanks to Slay, way to come through with these. So, who wants to post a nice tutorial on how to remove the crummy rep tubes and install the new ones??? also, what and how to change the stem for the eta movement to the new crown. photos would be just dandy if anyone has (ubi?? )
  9. feeling the new photos randy, very nice, make me feel warm and cozy inside
  10. Here's a shot i just took after swapping out the movement with my el sub, which has a MUCH better dial, and although i will most likely use the dial and datewheel from my noobmariner once it arrives, this one does great for now. next i will be trimming the cgs, drilling the lugs, checking the inline specs of the rotary girder , putting in a gen bezel insert, gen crown and gen tube, and then i think i"ll be done. the only thing i have to say which is a letdown with this case is the lugholes are not properly centered and they on a slight angle going from the outside of the case to the inside of the lugs, which may or may not be a hassle, anyone else ever have this issue? hope you like so far...
  11. the tool sucks ass, dont waste your money, i got it today, did nada, the bits dont grab at all

  13. is this still going?? haha, here we come tribal, everyones gonna be camping on your lawn, should it be called "rolliestock" "tribalstock" or "repstock"? :)
  14. here are some movements on ebay if you havent looked already. i dont know much about putting together a vintage daytona, but i'm sure those of you who do know whether or not any of these will do the trick Valjoux 72 movements on ebay
  15. i stand corrected, i was not aware that you were speaking about a case without lugholes, duuuuuhhh listen to ubi and jet, they know what they're talking about, i have been smoking the rock for a week straight and i dont know whats going on
  16. i've spent 8 million dollars buying things from them. all delivered by a naked woman in a coconut bikini....
  17. gonna have to drill the lugholes to use those 20mm springbars. there are about 400,000,000 threads on this, so just do a search and you'll be good to go. those springbars will not fit on the stock case, only after drilling.
  18. 70's Watches very strange and interesting designs, and for sale too if you feel like spending a big chunk of change on some not so pretty watches. just thought some of you might enjoy the pics
  19. yeah, the gen bracelets arent as heavy as the reps, but this one is really far from gen, have had at least 3 gens rolex's over the last few years, and this bracelet is a goner. you can have it if you want
