  1. TJGR, what type/source/brand of standard 22mm springbars do you recommend since Chief's watch prince's were not the ideal solution. i think i'm going to go this route on my tw classic at this time.
  2. welcome to the forum jec97t. this watch is sold by several dealers. go to that part of the forum and look up trustywatchguy (andrew), Joshua....and click on their sections. You can even click on one of their offerings and look at the bottom of that post to get their websites. Then navigate through the website to the watch that you are wanting. Other dealers like Precious Time who is in the EU carry this piece as well. Pick a dealer and then pick the watch.
  3. vacuum, those are very nice!!!! wear them all well!!
  4. arch & ubi, how are you going to offer these? are you going to go by responses to this thread or are you going to post in the Offers section? as i've communicate before, i need 2 but it appears from all the responses, there is high demand and you will blow through your first run of these. just thought i'd ask......
  5. that is a handsome strap!!! i like how you can get it with the optional deployant clasp. also at the bottom of that page it shows a pic of the trick springbar design used to keep the end flush against the watch case at the lugs. nice!!!!
  6. thanks by-tor.....you are indeed thorough.....that mini-review is exactly what i was looking for!!! i wonder how deep the between-lug holes are?.....hmmmmmm.......maybe this is another use for the drill press that i bought.
  7. ah....thanks r11co. i thought something was either wrong with my eyes or there were pixels dropping out of my monitor.
  8. thanks by-tor for the review and thanks r11co for the input about the bracelet and the ar coating. i have been waiting for the changes to slow so i can buy a black PO 45. your review indicates that time is here. it will be my next purchase. (by-tor: the only review you will probably have to do next is review the black rubber strap when it is made available for the 45mm) UPDATE - has anyone seen one of the genuines in person? before i ordered, i looked at the Omega site http://www.omegawatches.com/index.php?id=9...&no_cache=1 i could swear that the end of the seconds hand at the center of the dial, there is a '007' in orange with the PPK bond pistol. are my eyes decieving me?!?!?!
  9. hmmmmmm.....my noob bracelet fit on my 2006 mbw 16610. it took a little work....i was even doing the install after much drinking......but i still got it to fit. i did not have to intentionally bend the springbars.....i just worked the sel around until the bars popped into place.....any bending that might have occurred was un-intentional.
  10. @TJGR, where did you source the 22mm springbar with the proper diameter to fit our rep bracelets? I'm going to give this a try!!
  11. thanks for the link. personally, i have found that i am only good at the disassembly of these fine timepieces..... ....the reassembly doesn't seem to go well for me.
  12. yep.....your sick! i'll have to check my collection and see what you mean. good find!
  13. narikaa had some sticky balls to use to open case backs....i missed out on getting one of them but i instead used a racquet ball.....worked like a charm until i bought a REAL caseback opener. .....l&t, i hope you've had success in opening that thing up so you can drop in the new internals. we want pics when you are finished!
  14. valde pulchre.... gero is puteus translator http://www.tranexp.com:2000/Translate/result.shtml
  15. it really depends on the type of crystal. if it is a sapphire (which i'm sure it is not cuz the original one wouldn't have smashed if it was) then hand pressing is easy for some cases. if it is an acrylic (vintage), then i'd use a rubber block.....some people use a hockey puck with the correct size of hole hollowed out......and a vice to tighten things down, instead of using your hand. you will want to put even pressure on the plastic crystal and the ball of your hand might not apply it evenly.
  16. great start watcher! keep us informed as your project progresses!
  17. what crystal on the 1680 case would you recommend using for the franken-blue ubi?
  18. welcome jdkno. subs are fascinating and you will find that there are a lot of us here that enjoy them. i'm glad that you are researching and then asking good questions. you will find the community here is very willing to help answer your questions as long as you take the initiative to do some homework. ......with that said, here are some answers to a couple of your questions that no one has answered yet. 1) the dial of the reps that approximate the closest to that on the genuine is 28mm in diameter. these are the beautiful dials that are found on the reps like ttk's "noobmariner". the cn reps have larger dials and the date windows are too far to the right when compared to gen's. 2) as far as lug holes, it depends on the case type that your rep is "repping". lug holes were on the 16610 subs prior to 2004. the F series cases came out in 2004 and these do not have lug holes. so, if you buy a 16610 sub rep that is being sold by the dealers now, it will not have lug holes. this has always made me laugh and is in fact the reason i have in my sig the quote by our good forum friend dave gates. there were concerns back then that members didn't want subs with lug holes but wanted the F cases so they would have the latest look. dave provided us with the sage advice that lug holes were not a bad thing. i look back and laugh because the reps with lug holes that he referred are now highly desirable items and better reps than the F-cases of that time. well, if you are lucky enough to acquire a pre-2004 16610 rep, then the 20x2mm springbars to make it correct can be obtained from several sources: ebay is one option. i got my last ones from a member that was selling some. there are some watchsmiths here that also sell them when they do the work to drill the lug holes larger. again, welcome and enjoy the hobby
  19. well, my research and discussions with others (big thanks to one of our frankensub resident experts.... tribal!) have led me to find out that the mbw bezel does not use a 'bent paper clip'-type retaining spring but rather uses a bezel that attaches like the genuine. i also found that the bezel has an o-ring type gasket that goes around the inner circumference of the bezel and it rides against the outer portion of the case (the part where the deep rehaut is) and the crystal. in order to fix the rocking bezel i need to fix the o-ring so it fills the gap between the inner bezel surface and the outer rehaut/case surface. any suggestions of where to get a new o-ring gasket or is my best bet to acquire a new bezel with a better o-ring? any thoughts?
  20. thanks guys. i guess when i send it to have it serviced, i'll get it checked out then.
  21. wight, check it out with some calipers then pm me. i'll buy it from you for $50 if it is a gen superdome.....pm me when you find out.
  22. where are those pics of the new 2006 cases that the dealers posted when they came out? some of the pics showed the inside mechanism of the bezel. i think the mbw has a different mechanism but i just wanted to compare.
  23. my 2006 mbw 16610 has a slight rocking motion to the bezel. if i push on the pearl-section of the bezel, there is a pop and the bezel rocks down slightly. then, if i go 180 degrees to the opposite side of the bezel and press on the "30" marker of the bezel, there is a pop and the bezel rocks down slightly. when i first got this fine piece, not only did it have this bezel rocking issue but also the bezel rotated in the normal counter-clockwise direction but it also would turn in a jerky fashion in the incorrect clockwise direction. i removed the bezel and noticed that there is no retaining spring (the one that looks like a thin un-bent paper clip) but the thin metal washer with the 3 raised tabs that provide the "click" was there. i bent each end of the 3 tabs to a sharper angle and this cured the incorrect clockwise rotation of the bezel, but it did not fix the bezel rocking issue. any thoughts? is there supposed to be a bezel retaining spring on the 2006 mbw cases?
  24. just for my education, what 1665 versions used the superdome? was it only used on a DRSD or was it also used on a 1665 GREAT WHITE?
  25. def getting my money's worth......she has a pair of superdomes!!
