  1. actually i bought this while i was disapointed with vintage rep sub factory "none existent lumes" what i should have done was have my vintage reps relumed! still in two minds whether to sell it or not it just doesent get wrist time!
  2. Wearing this today tauchmiester this does not get much wrist time with a fuctional helium escape valve are sold to divers as a toolwatch and sports watch it passed the pressure test a difficult watch to photograph with its saphire crystal! its not meant to be a rep but its based on the seiko diver classic! movement is citizen automatic! a heavy watch and almost bullet proof! very thick backcase! this is the seiko diver classic it was based on!
  3. Thanks mastergod! for this pricerange rep thats a good price for a crown!
  4. Well Said! and its close for a under 200usd rep out of the box and a good base not everyone will want to or can do a 3000usd plus build franken that at the end of the day is a rep! i spent money on my grail watch 6538 and im planning a superfranken 5512/3 we love our superfrankens but i can only do about two at the most we should enjoy also some of these watches ,are good out of the box not gen as you say ,but a homage to the vintage style rolexes and should be appreciated as nice watches! and different from the highfashion garbage that commands thouusand plus usd! these watches when we are lucky have a nice case/bracelet and an swiss eta what else do we need! i love to have many watches but prefer the vintage themed watches!
  5. Thanks freddy333 iv had problems posting links on here must be doin something wrong!
  6. does anyone know of any gen photos to compare the trusty brown dial milgauss to?
  7. Thanks freddy333 this datejust was a eta modern datejust but with open 6-9 s a fantasy rep no doubt cant remember from were would be perfect to find one again and use the movement with the datewheel!
  8. My trusty sub date the ultimate cost about 388usd was perfect and water resistant i used it for smimming and i had it pressure test to 100m passed but i think its better just getting the swiss eta one at 288ish and having the work done yourself (a service) waterseals ect! i compared it to a friends gen and very little difference with the naked eye even my friend handled it could not tell the difference in quality!
  9. Wow! thats fantastic! well done! that in my book is a gen period! one question were they all with rotating red/black date wheel i have only seen this on a datejust, i wont be using a gen movement in my project but a modern (fxrandys 2893-2) but i will have to get a red/black date wheel!as i want the look of the watch to be as close as possible to the gen!
  10. hi toomuchgear! i had a thin cased 5508 and i gave it to a member,it had a small crown i just dident have a dial to put in it at the time! so the lightning bolt is correct good! and yes its a great brown dial! i have seen a gen with a thick case but with the black dial at a vintage watch road show it too had the small crown!
  11. Great detective work! RWG,s the place to be!!!!
  12. trustys got the new milguass vintage (sub style) with a bond no crown case and wafer dial, black and brown dials in the topgrade vintage section! check it out! the brown one looks ok but did they have the lighning bolt second hand back then?
  13. I prefer the trusty bond watches they have smaller crowns but thick cases the others on eden/idle are not quite correct! the trusty bond this will be perfect for my 6542 gmt project with a few mods, cant find a white dial though! and the trusty crystal looks better i think.
  14. thanks for info about mod, my 2783 early 70s did not have hacking . i have a 2836-2 that had the hacking removed i used to have this in the sub before i had the 2783 in i prefer slow beat in early subs
  15. are your 2846 s hacking none hacking? i take it they are quick setting dates? i would concider using this movement even in a none date project
  16. There are some bargain vintage reps around that with a bit here and there, they could make a great watch 200usd is not much as you say as i too have paid bucks for bits and pieces, i think one of the best buys at the moment is the vintage subs with the 2846 movements i would have considered paying that just for the movement! that bond sub can be worked on to make a super watch after all where is the fun in a ready made perfect watch? our hobbie has to be a project!
  17. Hi fxrAndy sorry i wrote the calibar wrong its a 2783, The 2783 was taken out of a vintage 1973ish omega military watch! and is very similar to the tudor 2784 movement (almost identical) and it is none hacking which i prefer on a vintage sub, i usually remove the hacking from watches that dident have also i on a vintage rep i would convert the fast date change to a slow one! i may use this movement for my tudor project as it would look great with a tudor yuki rotor!
  18. Tudor! i tend to use the nato straps in the winter in cyprus because of the heat you have to wash it every other day!
  19. Still wearing this 2783 slow beat eta powered sub! my beater! Have a nice weekend folks !
  20. trusty sometimes sells case kits for some of his watches but i agree with you all we will be doing is buying a case actually im thinking of ordering the trusty red sub with the 2846 eta slow beat movement and if i get both then i could take the movement and use it for my 6542 project then put the asian into the redsub and with some bits n pcs left over in my drawer build up the redsub and sell it!
  21. I see That trustywatchguys got the new bond sub watches in with clone eta at 188 usd! same thin crown again! but there photo are always better taken!
