Oh, not this time, both clasps are true representation of their genuine counterparts, rep makers have done a very good job actually. The genuine 'old-style' deployment clasp was flatter and thinner, for some reason Panerai decided to change the shape of the "wings" to the ones that fit smaller wrists better, but dig into the larger ones. Mind you, at 6.75" my wrist is considered mid-size, or average. I also thought the change in a design of rep deployment on these new A7753 Daylights was a bit strange especially following the claims that it was copied from the original...until I went to AD and tried the gen - it was identical to a new rep clasp

I have both old and new style. I wouldn't exactly say the new design is better. The contour of the wings on the old ones when folded follows the wrist underside much nicer IMO, as it's flatter and doesn't dig into the wrist at the wing edges like the new one. The new clasp is also thicker and heavier, for me it's a slight drawback, but that's me. However, I have to admit the overall brushed satin finish is more uniform and engraving on the new one is much closer to the gen. The clasp engagement/disengagement using side push buttons feels more gen-ish on the new ones, indeed. I may do a quick review sometime in not so distant future if I my current work/family schedule allows me to. cheers, b

Mate, you're more than welcome to post, with 4 years of lurking and reading some of our drivel posted here I'm sure you know a thing or two about reps to be able to write about them...no worries. Just look at PeteM for example...the guy has been a lurker all his life not only on rep forums, and now he can't stop talking and writing - LOL!

Yeah, I'm not sure about the mov't on those new 111 we're all anxiously awaiting. Andrew said it will have a "brand new finish" but that's still to be seen as what exactly that means. One thing I could bet on is that it will be based on A6497-2, higher-beat like the gen. I'm not expecting to see ETA based one at all, but could be wrong. It's also touted as a 1:1 copy from the 'gen-in-hand'...made by the same maker of A7753 Daylights, which should be a good thing Fingers crossed it all comes out OK in the end.

The main problem is - these aren't 1950s...not even close. They're poor cousins of the 47mm original, and something simply had to give to be able to squeeze the 1950-style watch into a 44mm case and make it automatic. The crown is super thin as it's, firstly - smaller, and secondly thinner as it needs a lot of travel when extended outwards from the case for time, date and 2nd time zone adjustment. Hmm, if you asked me this few weeks ago I'd say - keep it for sure, as there's hardly any possibility of sourcing something better as-new in the future, except if you're lucky to find a nice old second hand EL Fiddy as W pointed out above. However the recent rumors are that the Cartel is building a new 127 Fiddy, to be released after 2011 Chinese New Year. This one has reportedly being copied from the 'gen-in-hand'. It's yet to be seen, but the fact that its being made by the same maker of the A7753 Daylights, it sounds promising. Either or, I'd still keep that movement. It's a proven workhorse, it uses Swiss ETA as a base, and the bridge decoration is little better compared to previously released ETA-based E-series mov'ts. Also, according to the latest update from DSN, the E-series ETA6497 mov'ts aren't available any more. cheers, b

DSN Fiddy, mate. The dial, the hands and the very badly distorted xtal all point to the fact. Also, he was one of the very few from GZ that was offering his Fiddy with 3rd gen E-series ETA6497-1 mov't. The case is good though, and again points to his Fiddy from mid to late 2009, before the cases with incorrectly shaped (blunt) corners started flodding the market. The dial txt while light gray it' still closer to the real deal than the recent Fiddy rep dials with beige/light brown txt. It's a nice Fiddy nevertheless, however I'd put it into a 'middle of the road' category, IMO. I owned this rep Fiddy model as well, as part of my 5 Fiddy binge madness during the last 4-5 years, sold all but one. cheers, b

To do exactly what? I think you misunderstood the post from Gert-Jan...it's already great as is, and he was referring to the ring areas on three little chrono hands, not the cannon pin. Have a look at my photo above. All is good, cheers! b

The DW should be dark blue, a shade darker than the dial. The gen 224 case is fully polished including the chrono pushers, except for the slanted brushed ring area on the caseback and the CG lever, both of which are brushed.

They fixed that glaring fault, haven't they...after most of us already bought one...b'stards!!! I just close one eye when looking at the dial, LOL! On the other hand, it seems to be a one step forward two steps back in a well known GZ fashion once again, the dial lume has now become radioactive-green in color, non-matching with hands...?! Though that could be the photo effect...not sure about it All things considered, it's still one heck of a watch for under $400. cheers, b

It ain't genuine, it's DSN stock 27A CB Pdnb, mate that Jakob CB looks much better than DSN, it's still a little wrong for the 27/28 model though as it appears that he used this time a raised Pam-auto CBs which come with DSN 24/25 Submersibles. That said, it's probably the closest 27/28 PR rep caseback available these days, excluding old-school and EL ones. The next run from Jakob looks very promising, with the correct 1:1 CB replication, height, thickness, weight, perlage finish amd 'swiss made' etching inside the CB as per gen, is also rumored. Can't wait to see that one materialize

The dial print and form looks quite good, and the case has some nice finish and lines, the rest of it I couldn't care less about, but than again I never liked these even in their genuine form ...also, adding a GMT function on top of 7750 mov't is never a good thing, a disaster waiting to happen

Guys, may I use this thread to give you an update and heads-up on Leo and his current personal situation. His father is very sick, and Leo spends most of the time next to his bed in hospital...everything else in his life (including his hobbies etc) is put in hold for now.
