  1. I have at least 2 ETA 2789's (not certain on the exact caliber) in my spares bins...gathering dust...didn't know they were hard to find...

2846's are easy to find, but due to the vintage, probably need to be serviced.

As avitt pointed out, the 2846 is normally virtually silent when the rotor turns...

I could be wrong Zig, I should have said I see a lot more 28xx series than 27xx for at the parts houses. You I'm sure know better than me :)

Vyldog, my 2846 is also very quiet in my 1665.

  2. Hi,

i built this Tudor franken last year but the source for the correct case (its nothing like a Rolex sub case) that i used is no longer around but i believe they originated like all other quality cases from Vietnam.

Dial is from Thailand and hands from Classicwatchparts.

Its powered by a 2836 which has been made not to hack and has correct movement engravings. I will check around and let you know if i find something...

Actually i don't think i can call this a franken coz nothing on it is gen... oh apart from the crown. Does that count then?

    Nice PP!

  3. A folded 9315 would probably be original to a 1680 but those are even harder to find one in good condition than a 93150.

I'm of the mind that a good correct rep bracelet isn't so terrible. The fliplock 93150 that comes with new MBK 1665's now are quite nice and I think TTK can source just the bracelet. I have both gen and rep bracelets on my watches and prices are getting so absurd for parts these days I'd rather that money go towards another watch. Just my .02

You can always step out form the pack and get a silicone strap and logo buckle for about $50 or a G10 NATO for $20 and call it a day :D

  4. Well if you have a dial, that's a big step. You should ping Carlsbadrolex about a base case, he recently bought a Jewelryandwatch complete Tudor sub but had some quality issues with it which I think he worked through. I'd drop a slow beat 2846 in there too if the gen hands will fit it.

    Good luck on the project!

The 9041 is one of my favorite watches too, here's my genuine ;)

...to be honest, I am getting a little tired of the Fish. Weekend will be SFSO-free!

    Cute MM watch Vic!

  6. I saw the price at J&W and wonder why does it cost so much? How much would the real thing cost?

I assume their pre-own Rolexes are real, price is very good for a daydate though.

You got a very nice watch, wear it in good health and enjoy.

    Thanks Dvn,

The cost comes from the cases being very accurate and are made in small quantities, it also has genuine pushers and crystal on it and is powered by a valjoux 7734 movement (same as the gen). Those gen parts alone are at least half the cost not to mention the labor to put it together and servicing of the movement.

  7. Wearing my Silix budget 1675 today. Gasp, the vintage purists are rolling their eyes at the bracelet I'm sure. This is the only sport model I think fits with the Jubilee.

This is a work in progress; next is tackling the bezel  and drill out the lug holes. I think the Clarks T116 looks pretty good on it after sanding half the height of it down.
