  1. No love for the TWs then?

I'd get a Franken too, this looks a bit gaudy. Plus I don't like that they are produced in CN but cost as much as some Frankens.

Get a Seiko or a Citizen if you want a great watch. Seiko Kinetics look like this one, but MUCH more stylish and integrated design...

  2. Ok I'll be the noob....are there genuine counterparts for these watches?

    Ken

The three double-dials are modeled on MB&F watches, which are very cool. The last 50mm covertible watch also has a counterpart in the gen world which I have read about before. Not sure of their accuracies with respect to the gens, but definitely a bit of fun.

The killers are those horrible looking straps. But I reckon If you removed them and sent them to a good strapmaker for sizing, you'd have a really unique piece :)

  3. I'll wait till about 300+++ views and I'll give out her CeLL #~:winkiss:

Dated a girl who took these types of pics of herself. Turned out to be a hugely self-absorbed fruitcake. I would say avoid at all costs. As for giving her one, well... That's a different story... :)

  4. @subbiesrock: and sometimes you have to pay to get boobs that it pays to have ;)

    Touché Mel :)

Are you perchance providing this information based on personal experience? Or simply providing with a delightful truism? I suspect if it's the former and not the latter, you've just jumped a further couple of rungs in forum popularity ;)

  5. I never got an introduction like this... :(

    Welcome aboard melissa :)

Sometimes it pays to have boobs, eh Plai? ;)

Welcome to the forum Mel. We look forward to your wrsitshots.

...sometimes it's nice to see a hairless wrist, especially with some of the gorillas that post... :bangin:

    I KID gents, I KID! :drinks::thumbsupsmileyanim:

  6. Forget Tourneau, what about the stranglehold Rolex have over the US market... check this out, was posted on a gen forum a little while ago: http://www.justice.gov/usao/nye/pr/2011/2011mar10.html

    United States Attorney's Office

    Eastern District of New York

    March 10, 2011

    PRESS RELEASE

SELLER OF GRAY MARKET ROLEX WATCHES AGREES TO FORFEIT OVER $1.9 MILLION IN MERCHANDISE AND PAY A $325,000 PENALTY

Loretta E. Lynch, United States Attorney for the Eastern District of New York, today announced that Boneta, Inc., a privately owned business located in New York City’s Diamond District, has agreed to forfeit over $1.9 million worth of illegally imported Rolex watches and watch parts and to pay a $325,000 penalty, pursuant to a settlement agreement with the United States. In addition, Boneta has consented to increased penalties for any future illegal importations of trademarked merchandise.

Boneta came to the attention of law enforcement after its owner, Erik Boneta, attempted to import shipments of “gray market” Rolex watches from Hong Kong through John F. Kennedy International Airport. This merchandise was authorized by Rolex for sale only outside the United States, typically at prices lower than those charged for comparable items authorized for sale within the United States. Following the seizure of the shipments, Homeland Security Investigation (HSI) agents conducted an investigation into Boneta’s import activity. The investigation led to a search of Boneta’s offices, where HSI agents seized in excess of 200 Rolex watches as well as an assortment of hundreds of Rolex watch parts.

“We will enforce the laws that prohibit the illegal importation of trademarked merchandise at the border and where the merchandise is sold,” stated United States Attorney Lynch. Ms. Lynch expressed her grateful appreciation to U.S. Customs and Border Protection for its assistance in the investigation and the resolution of this matter.

“HSI’s effort to enforce laws protecting copyright and trademark holders is a long term commitment,” said James T. Hayes, Jr., Special Agent-in-Charge of HSI in New York. “Our goal is to put an end to the ability of companies like Boneta, Inc., to perpetrate such illegal conduct.”

So in summary, this Boneta group was importing watches from a place that Rolex allowed to sell for a cheaper price than normal. This is illegal because?

I can't believe that there is a law in place whose purpose is nothing more than to maximize a companies' profit. If this Boneta wants to buy watches and sell them for a profit, isn't that the definition of a free market economy? Rolex are seriously twisting the screws on their dealers from all sides.

  7. IMO, it's different when the dealers post videos and users post videos.

Dealers do it so there's a value-add to their service and QC process. It reassures the consumer and at the same time gives a good idea what we're getting into.

I honestly can't think of any good reason for a user to post a guide like that and invite more scrutiny to the forum. And broadcasting the name of the forum is just silly.

Actually it's not good that the dealers post online either, but they don't reference the forums. This clown referenced the forum directly, which is a big no no

  8. What a retard... The title for those interested is 'Replica Panerai watch' at the 'Tube.

Things like this put a lot of heat on the forums and dealers and is just unnecessary. The man has an Australian accent. His mispronunciation of three of the four companies he mentioned screams 'moron', and I doubt he is a member of RWG. The most recent video comment IS probably from one of our forum colleagues though :)

  9. Well, sure. He ran successful large scale businesses in the private sector prior to becoming president. He also ran unsuccessful businesses. He had a wide breadth of experience, and saw first hand how business practices can succeed and fail.

I suppose all the liberals (Diane Frankenfeinstein, John Edwards, Upchuck Schumer (if I'm not mistaken), et. al.) on the Senate Intelligence Committee who deemed the intelligence credible in 2001 that identified Saddam an imminent threat were in on the Bush/Cheney business opportunity as well?

I couldn't agree more. The issue is that the war serves the longer-term bipartisan interests of the US and the West in general. By creating a further presence in the Middle East and securing the flow of a significant percentage of the World's oil reserves, it allows energy to be sold in a free-market economy. Establishing a democratically-elected government and ousting a dictator would be much more conducive to this outcome. I would not e surprised if the Liberals on the commitee agreed on WMDs, nor was I surprised when they blamed their intel analysts on bad information. WMDs never mattered.

As far as the short terms of politicians and its broader implications, I couldn't have said it better. The US is in a difficult financial position and nothing but a long, protracted depression and a serious tightening of the purse will see her through. Dismantling the Fed would be a start in the right direction.

  10. True, Ken. And yet we elected a President to the world's most powerful economy with zero business experience.

Are you suggesting your former president's business acumen was better?

Just watched Oliver Stone's 'W' yesterday evening. Clearly liberally biased, but interesting viewing nevertheless. I'm not sure if business acumen is a quality one should want in a President. Bush/Cheney certainly had enough foresight to seize the business opportunity that presented itself in the Middle East.
