  1. My preference varies depending on the occasion and climate. In hot weather, I'll only wear my silicon Tropic-Style strap, or NATO. Cooler weather, and I'll wear SS or plastic bracelet, or a leather strap, and for a formal occasion, I'd only wear a leather strap :)

+1. I've been rocking the 312 on a black 4-ring NATO and it's comfortable and visually appealing. But if it ever needs dressing up, the OEM black croc is waiting in the wings ;)

  2. Looking forward to hearing more about these Freddy. What was the process to get your custom inserts made? Did you have to go to an audiologist for the mold?

The UE customs require you to visit an audiologist who will take a particular type of mold of your ear canal. The description is on their site, once you click on 'further details'.

The monitors themselves are very interesting, they have several variants, I think the one's Freddy chose are top of the line (and not at all cheap), they have three independent drivers in each module (bass, mid, highs) as well as miniature crossovers. It's insane.

On a slightly different topic, you all talk about vintage speakers for your home setups, but the studios that mixed most of the music you listen to, did so most probably on Yamaha NS-10m studio monitors. Why not just get yourselves a pair of those or a pair of studio reference monitors if you're interested in flat response? I never got all this business about speakers. The problem is that all of them have their unique characters, but if you want a true representation of the music as it was performed, wouldn't it be best to try and replicate the exact conditions in the studio at the time? Just some thoughts ;)

  3. as long as the user is comfortable with it, it's not ridiculous in their mind. For example:

    panerai_image.1832376.jpg

Forgive me if this is a photo of one of our brethren, but that bony little wrist looks ridiculous with a 60mm giant strapped to it. The Movado-looking piece is a little smaller but still absolutely ridiculous. The overhang is crazy!

  4. geo1nah2a thats some AWESOME photography u got there! mind blowing them up to wallpapersizes???

hows the feel of this watch in size compared to ie the UPO?? wears bigger or smaller?

Same, can you make us a 1920 * 1200 of the first image? Looks fantastic!

  5. Hey guys,

I'm looking to buy the new ceramic PAM292K rep. But what's the deal with the black seal logo?

Every rep I've seen (perfectclones, puretime, etc) hasn't got that black seal logo on it. However, when I look up gen pics, some have it and some don't!

I've tried looking it up with the search function on this forum, but no luck. Anyone that can enlighten me?

    Thnx!

The version with the logo is a special edition, i've only ever seen it on the PVD model.

I have a Swiss-powered stainless model without the 'PiG' logo, it's the PAM 183H and doesn't have the logo. Personally, it looks ridiculous but commands almost double the price in the gens compared to models without it.

  6. My gen Omega Planet Ocean (less than 1 yr old) got all fogged up after a 100ft cold water dive. That never happened with the reps I water proof myself ;)

I would take it back and ask for a full refund... It says 600m on the dial and it's worth thousands of dollars. It did not fulfill its primary purpose at 30m, then it needs to go back.

I doubt it would pass a 5ATM (50m) waterproofing test. Did they not check it at the factory? I would have had it tested professionally, gotten a certification that it failed, and go into the AD with the watch in the box with the certificate and say 'I'll take another please'. Abysmal...

As for self-waterproofing... Have you been trained as a watchsmith? Are you certified to waterproof Omega watches? (I'm assuming not :)) then why is it that you can waterproof a REPLICA of an Omega and get it more waterproof than what a factory one is?

It boggles the mind, it really does. Imagine how many people there are who don't dive with their watches, who would have much the same problem. It would be rather coincidental if you lucked out on a bad apple AND was into diving.

I go back to my previous point. What on Earth are we paying for with gens? Imperfections should go as the inverse square of cost. Pay hundreds (reps), expect niggles, pay thousands (gens), expect a lot...
